Race 2- CARPET ONE TOOWOOMBA CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1625m
 
MORDECAI- Jockey A Allen pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR131(b) in that he did fail to ride his mount out to the finish of the event and was subsequently fined the sum of $300. In considering the matter Stewards noted that MORDECAI had been inclined to lay in over the concluding stages of the event, nonetheless it was the determination of Stewards that Jockey Allen had erred by failing to place his mount under any pressure from a point leaving the 50m and that his actions may have cost the gelding 3rd place, though Stewards could not be definitively certain of that fact.
 
 
Jockey M Wishart pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR128(1) in that she did fail to arrive at the Jockey room within the prescribed time, which delayed the saddling of her mount in Race 1. Jockey Wishart was subsequently fined the sum of $200 and advised to ensure she does not commit to rides at different venues which prevent her from arriving on course at suitable times in future.
 
As Jockey C Eaton was not riding at tonights meeting due to injury rider replacements were permitted as per Stewards race day summary. Jockey Eaton was advised she would require a medical clearance prior to race riding again.
 
 
Race 1:GERRY BROWN'S SHELVING & STORAGE CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1200m
 
GLASS OF ROSE- Bumped on jumping. Shifted in marginally leaving the 400m and momentarily crowded JOY MCCOY. Jockey R Jamieson was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. In considering the matter Stewards noted the severity of interference was somewhat disproportionate to the marginal nature of the shift from GLASS OF ROSE, which was quickly corrected by its rider.
 
RUBAAHY- Laid out passing the 900m. Laid in under pressure down the running.
 
IT'SMEMARIO- Bumped on jumping.
 
BOOGA RAY- Was unable to be fully tested over the concluding stages when FLY LIKE HELEN shifted in under pressure, causing the filly to be held up for clear running.
 
JOY MCCOY (NZ)- Bumped on jumping and was taken wider and bumped again. Obliged to restrain when momentarily crowded for room leaving the 400m. Improved onto heels near the 50m having to be steadied and shifted wider.
 
NAUGHTY WORDS- Bumped approaching the 1000m. Bumped on entering the home straight. Raced wide for the majority.
 
DOONA- Began awkwardly shifted out and bumped, before being taken in and being buffeted and crowded between runners having to be steadied. Improved onto heels near the 900m, having to be steadied and shifted wider. On returning to scale Jockey M Wishart advised her mount dislodged the bubble cheeker and subsequently completed the event without that piece of gear.
 
MAKE HASTE- Stood flat footed and was slow into stride. Trainer M Nolan was advised a warning would be placed on the fillies record as a result.
 
FLY LIKE HELEN- Began awkwardly.
 
ABOVE THE WORLD- Laid out marginally on entering the home straight and bumped. Raced wide for the majority.
 
FOREBEARS- Jockey N Fazackerley was fined the sum of $200 under the provisions of AR190(3) in that he did accept the ride on the gelding when unable to fulfil the allocated weight. Stewards permitted Jockey N Fazackerley to ride the gelding 1/2kg over its allocated weight when no other suitable rider was available. Commenced to race fiercely approaching the 1000m, shifted wider despite the efforts of its rider and bumped NAUGHTY WORDS, taking that runner wider on the track, and continued to over-race for some distance. Trainer B Costello was advised a warning would be placed on the geldings racing manners as a result. Commenced to tire from the 400m.
 
TIME FOR JACK- Shifted out on jumping. Improved onto heels having to be steadied near the 900m before being shifted wider.
 
 
Race 2: LIVEWIRED ELECTRICAL BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP         1300m
 
Declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow App M Potgieter to view the patrol footage to ascertain whether there were any grounds for an objection. After viewing the official patrol footage App Potgieter elected not to proceed with any objection and correct weight was subsequently declared on the Judges semaphored numbers.
 
DOCTOR TEEKAY- Shifted out and bumped on jumping.
 
PATMOS ISLAND- Buffeted on jumping. Laid in under pressure down the running.
 
PERFECT ENCOUNTER- When asked to comment on the performance Stable Foreman K Zahmel advised that the mare often performs well over similar trips early in preparations however had come to a point where events over further distances would now be more suitable as is consistent with prior preparations. Jockey L Tilley concurred with Mr Zahmels assessment.
 
MISHANI SPARTAN- Became awkwardly placed on heels soon after the start having to be restrained and shifted in, losing ground as a result. Under pressure from the 900m and proved unable to muster the necessary speed to maintain contact with the field, consequently assumed a trailing position before finishing off fairly. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
 
MOTELL- Momentarily crowded near the 900m. Laid out passing the 800m.
 
THE CATCH- Laid in and away from another runner leaving the 100m.
 
TAKE A PICTURE- Buffeted on jumping. Jockey N Fazackerley advised on returning to scale that he did not place his mount under any undue pressure over the concluding stages as he felt the gelding commence to tire noticeably at that stage. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed a noticeable cough. Trainer P Cox advised the intention would be to send the gelding for an immediate spell. Nonetheless, Mr Cox was advised the gelding would require a veterinary clearance, inclusive of an endoscopic examination, prior to again being permitted to start in a race.
 
FUN SPONGE- Bumped on jumping.
 
Following the running of this event the racing surface was upgraded to a Good 3
 
 
Race 3: WESTERN CLYDESDALES BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP    2000m
 
LUCKY EXCHANGE- Laid in passing the 400m. Laid in under pressure down the running.
 
CLEAR BLONDE- Bumped near the 1750m.
 
MORDECAI- Shifted wider to improve and bumped leaving the 400m. Laid in under pressure down the running.
 
BILPA MOREA (NZ)- Bumped leaving the 400m.
 
ZOU ZOUAMORE- After beginning well from the wide barrier was ridden positively in the early stages in an effort to obtain a forward position nearer the inside running rail, after it became apparent his mount would be posted wide Jockey N Tomizawa urged his mount forward slightly in an effort to obtain a leading position nearer the rail. As a result, the mare commenced to race keenly from the 1600m and assumed a noticeable lead before responding to Jockey Tomizawas effort to be restrained and assumed a more marginal leading position near the 1000m.
 
DESHORENTE- Bumped the inside running rail near the 900m. Laid in on entering the home straight and was obliged to shift in further to avoid heels and obtain clear running as a result.
 
ALERT AND READY- on returning to scale App A Donald advised that her saddle had slipped near the 1000m placing her at a disadvantage from that point.
 
GINASUE- Bumped passing the 1750m. Over-raced on heels for a short distance thereafter. Following the running of this event Jockey G Goomany advised that he had injured a finger and after being examined by QAS officers was deemed unfit to fulfil his remaining engagement. Jockey Goomany was advised a medical clearance would be required prior to his again being permitted to ride in races.
 
 
Race 4: MNP SECURITY QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1200m
 
CURIOUS MAGIC- Laid in under pressure passing the 100m. Though no tangible interference occurred, Jockey L Tarrant was nonetheless advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances.
 
VELOCE METEOR- Shifted in around heels to improve near the 150m.
 
GERALDINE'S WISH- Held up for clear running approaching the 300m. Shifted wider on entering the home straight.
 
NO MORE SCOTCH- Began awkwardly.
 
POW NOW- Raced wide for the majority.
 
ROCK A BYE IVY- Shifted in and bumped on jumping. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
 
SHOUTS ALL DAY- Held up for clear running approaching the 300m.
 
WINDOW TAPPER- Bumped on jumping.
 
ZOUWALER- Laid in rounding the home turn. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed the gelding to be exhibiting clinical signs of the Thumps.
 
 
Race 5: RACING NATION ON POWERFM MAIDEN HANDICAP  1300m
 
DOWNEY- Fractious in the barrier and reared prior to the start. Trainer M Currie was advised a warning would be placed on the geldings barrier manners as a result.
 
FREYA'S MAGIC- After beginning on terms with the field from the wide barrier was ridden positively in the early stages and settled in a leading position on the inside running rail near the 900m.
 
PEACH GALANTES- Had difficulty obtaining clear running from the 150m, bumped the inside running rail near the 100m when attempting to improve into a narrow run and was held up from that point on, consequently went to the line without being full tested.
 
DUMA- Steadied soon after the start to assume a position with cover near the inside running rail. Laid in rounding the home turn and momentarily held up on entering the home straight before being shifted wider.
 
SUNCRAFT- Steadied soon after the start to assume a position with cover near the inside running rail. Momentarily crowded approaching the 900m.
 
GAELIC THUNDER- Raced keenly near the 1100m when being restrained in an effort to obtain a position with cover nearer the inside running rail.
 
MONTAGLIARI- App L Sykes was fined the sum of $400 under the provisions of AR143(14)(a) in that he failed to claim any of his allowance on the mare. In considering penalty Stewards noted App Sykes poor record in relation to the rule. Raced wide for the majority.
 
 
Race 6: SUBZERO AIRCONDITIONING BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP  870m
 
Correct weight was delayed to allow Stewards to consider a protest lodged by Trainer S Kirkwood, Trainer of 3rd placegetter NICCI DE ROSA, against 2nd placegetter LADY INVADER, citing interference over the concluding stages. After taking evidence from connections of both runners and reviewing the patrol footage Stewards noted that passing the 50m LADY INVADER did shift out under pressure and bump slightly with NICCI DE ROSA. After considering the beaten margin, the location of the interference, the manner in which bother runners where finishing the race off leading into and subsequent to the contact between them at the 50m, and the minor nature of the bump, Stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that the interference had any tangible effect on the finishing order and subsequently dismissed the protest and declared correct weight on the Judges semaphored numbers.
 
HAYAI UMA- Fractious in the barrier. Raced wide for the majority. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no significant abnormalities outside of the presence of blood in the fillies mouth, likely as a result of being fractious in the barrier. Trainer P Webster advised it would be the intention to send the filly for an immediate spell. Nonetheless, Mr Webster was advised a warning would be placed on the fillies barrier manners.
 
TOKYO SINS- Stood flat footed and began awkwardly. Trainer C Geran was advised a warning would be placed on the mare as a result. Momentarily held up for clear running on entering the home straight before bumping several times when improving into a narrow run, whilst laying in.
 
LADY INVADER- Bumped passing the 350m. Laid out under pressure and bumped passing the 50m. Raced wide for the majority.
 
ISLAND TIDE- Bumped passing the 350m. Bumped on the hindquarters when entering the home straight.
 
NICCI DE ROSA- Bumped passing the 50m.
 
HOKUSAI- Bumped on the hindquarters when entering the home straight.
 
 
Race 7: PRYDE'S EASIFEED MAIDEN PLATE   1050m
 
REGAL KING- Began awkwardly.
 
OUTTA BEAUTY- Slow to begin.
 
MEASURED- Shifted in abruptly near the 900m to obtain a position with cover nearer the inside running rail. Though no tangible interference occurred App J Molloy was advised to exercise greater care and desist from such abrupt shifts in future. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
 
QUEEN OF THE SKIES- Raced keenly for a short distance when being steadied in an effort to obtain cover near the 800m.
 
RAPT IN PINK- Slow to begin. Became awkwardly placed on heels approaching the 400m and was obliged to ease, before again becoming awkwardly placed on heels approaching the 300m having to be eased.
 
SOUTHBROOK FLYER- Improved onto heels near the 800m having to be steadied and shifted wider. Raced wide for the majority. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
 
SUNFYRE- Slow to begin. Raced wide for the majority.
