CROATIAN QUEEN- Bumped on jumping. Momentarily shifted in and away from another runner leaving the 100m.

LADY BOSSA NOVA- Buffeted on jumping.

MRS KAJUDO- Bumped on jumping.

Race 2: HANNAS TOOWOOMBA BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP  1000m

Declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow Stewards to view footage of the start to ensure all runners were afforded a fair start. After viewing the footage Stewards were satisfied all runners were afforded a fair start and correct weight as declared on the Judges semaphored numbers.

DOLLOP- Bumped on jumping.

LAURIE- Reared as the start was effected, causing Jockey L Tarrant to become unbalanced, and lost ground. Trainer M Kropp was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding as a result.

MORT DOYLE- Was declared a late scratching at 1:47pm when unable to be loaded onto the horse transport vehicle.

FESTIVAL PRINCE- Bumped on jumping. Tightened and obliged to restrain leaving the 800m. Laid in under pressure down the running proving somewhat difficult to ride out.

LAST CHANCE SALOON- Was declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at 4:56pm after becoming fractious in the race-day tie-ups and sustaining an injury to the off-hind. Prior to the declaration of correct weight all monies invested on the gelding were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applicable to all successful wagers placed prior to 4:56pm:

31cents in the dollar for the win
21cents in the dollar for the place

Trainer D Vandyke was advised the gelding would require a veterinary clearance prior to again being permitted to start in a race.

GROOMED- Fractious in the barrier. Began awkwardly and was slow into stride.

AL PAL'S GAL- Laid in rounding the home turn. On returning to scale App O Webb advised she had dropped her whip near the 200m. When queried regarding the tactics adopted Trainers representative K Kropp advised that it had not been the intention for the mare to lead in such a manner however after beginning well and being ridden positively as per instructions, the apparent lack of pace in the early stages resulting in the mare settling in a leading position with minimal effort and from that point was always going to be competitive in the finish. App O Webb concurred with Ms Kropps comments.

INCOMPARABLE- Stewards queried App J Molloys riding of the gelding in the home straight, noting a particular lack of vigour over the final 200m. App Molloy advised that he felt his mount weakening from the 400m and as such elected not to place the gelding under any undue pressure. App Molloy also noted, with his experience riding the gelding, that, in his opinion, the gelding may have come to the end of its preparation and possibly career. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer T Dougall advised on 23rd June that the gelding had pulled up well following the event however stated connections would now consider the immediate racing future of the gelding with consideration to be given to retirement.

NICCI DE ROSA- App S Callow was found guilty of a charge pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding in that leaving the 800m she did permit her mount to shift in, dictating the line of ANNAKURI in onto the running of FESTIVAL PRINCE which was tightened and obliged to restrain and lost its rightful running. App Callows license to ride in races was subsequently suspended for a period of 7 days to commence 28 June, up to and including 4 July. In considering penalty Stewards noted App Callows status as an apprentice, her record in relation to the rule, the general circumstances of the incident, and the degree of carelessness which was deemed to be in the low range. App Callow was advised of her right to an appeal. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which reveal a laceration to the off-hind hock consistent with being galloped on in running.

ANNAKURI- Crowded and taken in, having to be eased leaving the 800m. Laid out rounding the home turn.

Race 3: LASER CLINICS AUSTRALIA CLASS 2 HANDICAP         1100m

Declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow Stewards to view the photo finish for 3rd place. After viewing the official photo finish image Stewards were satisfied with the Judges semaphored placings and correct weight was subsequently declared.

SNEAKY SHARK- Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped.

I AM MASON- Shifted in leaving the 900m momentarily crowding TEMPLEMORE. Jockey N Tomizawa was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. Shifted out on entering the home straight and bumped. Raced wide for the majority.

KITRI- Eased when racing tight between runners near the 900m before being shifted in to obtain a position nearer the inside running rail with cover. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer M Nolan advised on 24th June that the filly had pulled up well following the event, adding that KITRI would now likely be sent for an immediate spell.

TEMPLEMORE- Momentarily crowded leaving the 900m. Laid in under pressure down the running.

BEEBEE DAZZLER- Buffeted on jumping. Laid in under pressure down the running.

MONEY BEAR- Began awkwardly.

Race 4: LAWRENCE & HANSON BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP  1625m

TOP BOY- Buffeted on jumping. Momentarily crowded near the 1400m. Raced keenly down the back straight. Shifted out marginally near the 700m and bumped. Laid in momentarily near the 400m. Shifted inside of heels leaving the 400m to obtain clear running on the inside running rail.

POWER PACK- Bumped passing the 700m. Shifted in and away from another runner near the 250m. Raced wide for the majority.

TOKYO BANDIT- Laid in near the 900m becoming momentarily awkwardly placed on heels. Trainer L Hatch advised, in light of tonights performance, it would be the intention to send the gelding for an immediate spell. Jockey L Tilley concurred with Mr Hatchs assessment stating, in his opinion, the gelding had come to the end of its preparation. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

SPRAY GUN- Buffeted on jumping. Momentarily crowded near the 800m. Raced keenly on heels approaching the 700m. Shifted out when not fully clear of CRY ME A RIVER leaving the 600m. App D Bennett was severely reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) as a result of this incident. In considering the matter Stewards were unable to conclusively determine, with the available anecdotal evidence tendered by Jockey G Cartwright (CRY ME A RIVER) and the available patrol footage, that CRY ME A RIVER had secured the position directly to the outside of SPRAY GUN prior to the incident occurring, nonetheless, Stewards were satisfied App Bennetts lack of care and the abruptness of his shift demonstrated a culpable level of carelessness.

HOTFOOT PERFORMER- Hung in under pressure down the running, shifted in passing the 150m and inconvenienced PELE PRINCESS, before being corrected by its rider. App D McGillivray was severely reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) as a result of this incident and advised that safety of horse and rider is paramount and must always be the priority in such circumstances. In considering the matter Stewards noted the racing manners of the gelding at the time of the incident as well as App McGillivrays efforts to correct his mount which were deemed to be mitigating factors in the incident.

PELE PRINCESS- Raced keenly on heels approaching the 1200m before being shifted out and bumping another runner and being crowded before being eased and shifted wider leaving the 1200m and racing wide from that point on. Inconvenienced near the 150m.

SHALZER- Began awkwardly before being buffeted and having to be eased, consequently settled further back in the field than may have been expected. Momentarily crowded near the 800m. App A Donald was severely reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(5) in that she did use her whip in an excessive manner throughout the event. In considering the matter Stewards noted App Donalds limited use of the whip prior to the 100m.

CATCH CRIES (NZ)- Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Lain in marginally near the 800m when racing keenly. On returning to scale Jockey S Apthorpe advised his saddle had slipped near the 1000m, placing him at a slight disadvantage in his efforts to settle his mount from racing keenly.

Race 6: QUEENSLAND ELECTRICAL SOLUTIONS MAIDEN PLAT  1200m

FIRST TO MARS- Restrained from the wide gait in an effort to obtain cover and a position nearer the inside running rail. Bumped approaching the 400m, shifted wider and bumped again.

LOOKIN' SHARP- Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination which revealed an abnormal gait with reference to the off-hind which was consistent with previous veterinary examinations. Bumped on jumping, shifted in and bumped again. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed no abnormalities outside of the previously identified gait abnormality. On returning to scale App A Donald advised that she had been struck in the face by her mount on exiting the barrier. App Donald was subsequently examined by QAS officers and stood down from her remaining engagement. App Donald was advised she would require a medical clearance clearing her of any injury, concussion or concussion symptoms prior to again being permitted to ride in a race.
