TOOWOOMBA 6TH JULY 2024

WEATHER – Fine TRACK RATING – Soft 5 RAIL – Out 5metres the entire

OFFICIALS

Chairman of Stewards – C Warren

Stewards – J Childs, T Preston & D MacDonald

Race 1: MOORE TRAILERS QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD HANDICAP 1100m

PALEFACE RINGO- Laid in under pressure down the running. Stewards queried App L Skyes tactics in the middle stages, specifically why he permitted his mount to drift back in the field during the middle stages when it appeared more preferable to settle in a position outside the leader or in a one-out one-back position. App Sykes, in the presence of Senior rider Jockey J Stanley, concurred with Stewards and agreed with the benefit of hindsight it would have been more preferable to have maintained a more forward position during the middle stages of the event.

BETTA THAN PRESLEY- Slow into stride and buffeted on jumping. Momentarily crowded near the 600m. Held up on heels in the early stages of the home straight before shifting in and again becoming momentarily held up on heels before shifting out and bumped near the 150m. Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages. Stewards queried Jockey N Tomizawas riding in the early and middle stages of the home straight. Specifically, why he persisted with efforts to obtain a run to the outside of REIGNING ALPHA in the early stages of the home straight when there appeared ample room to the inside of that runner, and also why Jockey Tomizawa, after shifting to the inside of that runner passing the 200m, again shifted out to obtain a run to the outside of REIGNING ALPHA passing the 150m and consequently bumped with I’LLTELLYOUSO. Jockey Tomizawa stated, he had intended to shift to the inside of REIGNING ALPHA on entering the home straight but when that runner commenced to lay in on straightening he elected to attempt a run to the outside. Shortly after however, REIGNING ALPHA ceased laying in and shifted out slightly and I’LLTELLYOUSO laid in marginally meaning he was unable to improve to the outside of RIEGNING ALPHA. Jockey Tomozawa further stated he then shifted inside of REIGNING ALPHA but in doing so erred when changing his hold causing his mount to shift out and contact I’LLLTELLYOUSO. Stewards noted the explanation.
