When App A. Donald was indisposed due to injury, Jockey M. Gray was indisposed, App S. Callow and was unavailable due to engagements at other race meetings, and App S. Willis and App A. Graham were mistakenly declared, Stewards permitted replacements as per the Stewards Race-day Summary. App A. Donald and Jockey M. Gray were advised they would require a medical clearance prior to race-riding again. App S. Callow subsequently reprimanded under AR127(1) for failing to fulfil her engagements.

Race 1:HAPPY 80TH BIRTHDAY BLUEY KNOWLES QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP (870m)
INAZUMA BOY – Began awkwardly and bumped. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Raced wide and without cover for the majority.
INVISIBLE TARGET – Crowded on jumping.
MINE KART CARNAGE – Fractious in the barriers prior to the start being effected and was subsequently slow into stride.
CROATIAN QUEEN – Laid out leaving the 300m.
GOOD GIRL POLLY – Bumped on jumping.
LADY ZAYDI – Trainer A. Sweeney was fined $200 under LR67(1) for the late declaration of rider on the filly. Laid out for some distance near the 600m. Became momentarily awkward placed on heels near the 300m and was obliged to shift wider to obtain clear running.
MISSING BOUNDARIES – When Jockey M. Wishart was unavailable due to delays at the Gold Coast race-meeting and transport difficulties, Stewards permitted Jockey K. Yoshida to be declared the replacement rider. Jockey Wishart was reminded of her obligations under AR127(1) for failing to fulfill an engagement. Began awkwardly. Inclined to lay out for some distance near the 600m.
Race 2: AUSTUMP HOUSE RAISING & RESTUMPING CLASS 1 HANDICAP (1200m)
LIGHTNING RAGE (NZ) – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and passed fit to start. After beginning only fairly was ridden positively in the early stages to obtain a prominent position before obtaining the lead near the 900m. When questioned regarding the performance, Jockey G. Cartwright stated that she had to make some use of the gelding to obtain a forward position, however her mount still proved disappointing in its finishing efforts. Trainer M. Currie stated that, in his opinion, the gelding may be better suited over shorter distances than that of todays event.
DOONA – Raced keenly in the early stages.
DUCHESS BREE – Bumped on jumping before shifting in and bumping again. Shifted out leaving the 100m when not fully clear of ASGOODASYOUGETT which was obliged to steady. Jockey N. Evans was reprimanded under AR131(a) for careless riding.
VIENNESE LOVER – Bumped on jumping.
ASGOODASYOUGETT – Bumped on jumping. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Steadied from heels leaving the 100m.
DIVINE KAMEHALANI – Began awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority.
LITTLE VAIN – Laid out rounding the home-turn.
WORTHY ESSGEE – Bumped near the 550m.
SUPER RUPERT – Began awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority.
DOUBLE COCO – Raced keenly for some distance near the 1100m when being restrained in an effort to obtain a position with cover. Raced wide from the 800m. Laid in near the 550m and bumped.
Race 3:TTC MEMBER ROBYN CAWKWELL BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP (1000m)
ROCONONO – Bumped approaching the 950m. Shifted in to obtain a position closer to the running rail near the 800m when not fully clear of BUTT HEADS, which was obliged to steady. App L. O’Donnell was reprimanded under AR131(a) for careless riding.
SZABO – Shifted in abruptly approaching the 950m before being corrected by its rider, shifted out and bumped. Raced wide for the majority. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off-foreleg. Trainer’s representative B. Andrew was advised the gelding would require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.
CHAMPINSKY – Bumped on jumping. Improved onto heels near the 700m and was obliged to be momentarily steadied. Laid in and away from another runner having to be momentarily steadied leaving the 100m. Jockey J. Stanley advised the mare was inclined to hang-out at various stages throughout the event.
BUTT HEADS – Bumped on jumping. Steadied near the 800m when ROCONOCO shifted in. Raced keenly for some distance near the 600m. Disappointed for clear-running leaving the 200m, when attempting a run between ANNAKURI and DONMORE GIRL, which was laying in, before being shifted in abruptly to improve into a marginal run inside of ANNAKURI and in doing so bumped SO EXTRA which became momentarily unbalanced and bumped the inside running rail. Jockey N. Tomizawa was reprimanded under AR131(a) for careless riding. Crowded for room passing the winning post.
PITAVAGO – Crowded on jumping. Approaching the 300m was momentarily steadied and shifted out and around heels to improve. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
SO EXTRA – Bumped heavily near the 100m and became unbalanced, shifted in and bumped the inside running rail. Approaching the winning post was unable to be fully tested when racing in restricted room to the inside of BUTT HEADS.
DONMORE GIRL – Laid in under pressure passing the 200m.
MY ONE – Crowded for room and became momentarily awkwardly placed on heels soon after the start. Approaching the 300m was momentarily held-up for clear running.
MR EVANS – Bumped on jumping. Raced wide for the majority.
ANNAKURI – Shifted in marginally passing the winning post crowding BUTT HEADS in onto SO EXTRA. Jockey D. Evans was advised to exercise greater care to ensure his mount don’t shift ground in similar circumstances.
MISS HELMUT – Bumped on jumping. Laid out for some distance near the 450m. Raced wide for the majority. Jockey M. Savva was reprimanded under AR132(6)(c) for using her whip when out of contention.
Race 4: SCOTT PIERCE DISABILITY SUPPORT BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP (1625m)
ANYWAY YOU WANT IT – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination at the barriers on the request on the request of the rider and was subsequently declared a late scratching at 6:19pm. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Stewards ordered all monies invested on the gelding be refunded with the following deductions applicable to all successful wagers placed prior to 6:19pm:
38cents for the win
23cents for the place on the winner
23cents for 2nd place
26cents for 3rd place
A subsequent post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have lost its off-fore plate but failed to reveal any other signs of lameness. As such no further action was taken concerning any embargo.
CLUSTER'S REIN – Jockey A. Allen was reprimanded under AR131(b) for failing to ride his mount out fully to the finish. In assessing the matter, Stewards were mindful that Jockey Allen maintained third place, and that his mount was had improved onto the heels of DUMA, which shifted out, over the concluding stages. However, noted Jockey Allen had continued to ride his mount out for several strides after DUMA had shifted into his mounts line of running and were of the view that Jockey Allen had erred by not shifting CLUSTER’S REIN out away from the heels of DUMA over the concluding stages to avail his mount unimpeded running room when it was reasonable and permissible to do so.
ROMAN HEIR – Jockey J. Stanley advised it wasn’t his intention to lead, however after beginning well from the wide barrier and with the lack of any early pace his mount settling further forward than anticipated.
FLYING ROTHE – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages.
DUMA – Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages.
RADIANT QUEEN – Raced keenly for some distance near the 1400m. Raced wide from the 1000m. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
RUBAAHY – Slow to begin. Raced keenly for some distance near the 1400m.
I'M A TINY DANCER – Raced keenly for some distance near the 1400m.
Race 5: CAMPBELL FAMILY SHARKS 50TH QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP (1200m)
BURLEIGH MAGIC – Crowded on jumping before being bumped and becoming momentarily awkward placed on heels soon after. Steadied from heels near the 900m. Momentarily crowded and became awkwardly placed on heels near the 700m and was steadied. Shifted in away from another runner passing the 400m. Crowded near the 100m and bumped.
RHUVAAL – Began awkwardly.
WANT TO BE PROUD – Crowded and obliged to ease near the 900m. Momentarily crowded near the 700m. Bumped near the 300m. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Leaving the 100m, laid in and crowded NOBLE VALOUR.
YOU MIGHT THINK – Bumped on jumping. Raced in restricted room near the 900m when EXPLOSIVE DRAGON shifted in despite the efforts of its rider before being obliged to shift in away from the heels of that runner near the 700m when it again laid in despite the efforts of its rider. Laid in away from another runner approaching the 400m and crowded runners to the inside.
DECRYPT – Buffeted between runners on jumping. Leaving the 900m, shifted in when not fully clear of EXPLOSIVE DRAGON which was then taken in onto LA MANO. Jockey M. Murphy was reprimanded under AR131(a) for careless riding and advised to ensure he is fully clear when shifting ground in similar circumstances. In considering the matter Stewards noted the racing manners of EXPLOSIVE DRAGON at the time of the incident which were considered to have exacerbated the severity of interference. Near the 450m, tightened and taken in onto the running of WIFE IS RIGHT when MYSTERY POWER shifted in despite the efforts of its rider. Jockey M. Murphy was reprimanded under AR131(b) for failing to ride out to the finish. In assessing penalty, Stewards considered Jockey Murphy maintained his fourth-place finish in the race, however, were of the opinion his vigour was far below the expected standard.
FALLGUY – Crowded when weakening near the 100m and was obliged to steady. When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding, Jockey N. Tomizawa stated that he was required to make some use of his gelding in the early stages to obtain a more favourable position which proved detrimental to its finishing efforts. Jockey Tomizawa added further that, in his opinion, the gelding performs best when able to obtain cover in running. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery.
EXPLOSIVE DRAGON – Began awkwardly and bumped. Tightened for room, having to be restrained near the 900m and commence to over-raced and did so for some distance thereafter, shifting in and crowding another runner near the 700m. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Shifted in abruptly near the 50m before being corrected by its rider.
MYSTERY POWER – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after being fractious in the race day tie-ups and passed fit to start. Laid in near the 900m crowding runners to the inside, despite the efforts of its rider. Again, laid in near the 700m crowding runner to the inside despite the efforts of its rider. Hung in abruptly near the 450m carrying DECRYPT inwards onto the line of WIFE IS RIGHT, despite the efforts of its rider. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Raced wide for the majority. Trainer L. Hatch was advised the gelding would now be required to trial prior to racing again.
NOBLE VALOUR – Began awkwardly. From the wide barrier shifted behind runners in the early stages to obtain a position with cover nearer the inside running rail. Raced keenly for some distance near the 1000m. Steadied from heels near the 700m. Was momentarily crowded and became awkwardly placed on heels approaching the 400m having to be steadied and shifted in.
LA MANO – Tightened for room near the 900m having to be steadied before again having to be steadied near the 700m when tightened for room and lost ground. Momentarily awkwardly placed on heels near the 400m. App D Bennett advised that he had been obliged to place his mount under pressure after losing ground near the 700m from which time it failed to respond to his urgings. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. Stable Foreman K Zahmel advised on 28 July that the filly had pulled up well following the event adding that given the fillies small stature and the interference suffered during the run, the stable weren’t overly disappointed with its finishing efforts.
BOOM CRUSHER – Bumped on jumping. Improved onto heels near the 900m and was momentarily steadied and shifted wider. Bumped near the 300m. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Raced wide for the majority.
WIFE IS RIGHT – Bumped on jumping. Tightened for room near the 450m and had to be restrained. Crowded near the 100m, bumped and became momentarily unbalanced.
Race 6: STEELENATION HOME MAINTENANCE BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP (1625m)
FESTIVAL PRINCE – Jockey H. Phillips was fined $400 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using her whip on 9 occasions prior to the 100m. In assessing penalty, Stewards considered Jockey Philips good record in relation to the rule as well as the QRIC Penalty Guidelines.
GRECIAN LASS- Raced keenly when momentarily steadied on being crossed near the 1000m. Laid in under pressure down the running.
CHASING JACKLEY – Raced keenly for some distance near the 1000m when being restrained to obtain a position with cover nearer the inside running rail. App L. O’Donnell advised that, in her opinion, the gelding may have come to the end of its preparation. A post-race veterinary revealed no significant abnormalities. Trainer A. Sweeney was fined $100 under AR165(3) for removing the gelding from the course, before the designated time which necessitated the gelding being bought back to the course to undergo a veterinary examination.
RUBY'S LAD – Crowded on jumping and was slow into stride. Raced wide from the 1200m. On returning to scale Jockey A Allen stated that his mount felt awkward in its action during the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.
START STRUTTING- Held up for clear running approaching the 300m and for a short distance on entering the home straight.
PESHWA – Raced keenly for the majority. Laid out near the 1300m. Improved onto heels near the 500m and was obliged to be ease. Held-up for clear running leaving the 400m before being shifted wider. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
PICK ZA BEANS – Jockey J. Stanley advised the gelding was inclined to over-race throughout the event, adding that, in his opinion, the gelding may benefit from the removal of the blinkers.
AQUARIUS- Slow into stride.
Race 7: AG RIGGING MAIDEN HANDICAP (1625m)
LOOKIN' SHARP – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities outside of an abnormal gait regarding the off-hindleg as identified in previous examinations. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities outside of an abnormal gait regarding the off-hindleg as identified in previous examinations.
REGAL KING – Commenced to over-race near the 1400m before shifting wider carrying POW NOW outwards. Continued to race keenly for some distance thereafter. Commenced to give ground from the 500m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. Trainer W. King was advised that the geldings nominations at Metropolitan and Provincial meetings would now be refused until its form at Country venues improved to Stewards satisfaction.
ANIMAL OF WAR – Bumped near the 300m.
FITASAFIDDLE – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages. Momentarily held-up for clear running near the 300m.
POW NOW – Carried outwards near the 1400m. Raced keenly for some distance thereafter. When being restrained near the 1200m to obtain a position with cover, commenced to again race keenly for some distance. Raced wide for the majority. When questioned regarding the performance, App D. Bennett could offer no specific explanation for the disappointing performance other than the wide run may have proved detrimental to his mounts finishing efforts. App Bennett further added that, in his opinion, the gelding may be better suited to events over shorter distances. Trainer M Nolan advised that, in his opinion, the filly failed to see out the distance of todays event and the intention will be to step the filly back down in distance for future starts.
READY TO THUNDER – From the wide barrier was ridden conservatively in the early stages to obtain a position with cover. Trailed the field throughout in the early stages. Improved onto heels near the 500m and was momentarily steadied. Held-up near the 300m before shifting wider to obtain clear running. When questioned regarding the apparent improved performance, Trainer P. Kimmet stated he was pleasantly surprised by the performance, not having supported the gelding with bookmakers. Mr Kimmet added further that the gelding had been pleasing in its work for some time, however had shown a tendency to race greenly throughout its previous starts.
SUPIDOCHARGED – Hampered on jumping. Momentarily held-up approaching and passing the 300m before being shifted wider to obtain clear running on entering the home straight and bumping. Shifted ground under pressure in the home straight. Raced wide for the majority.
Race 8: MNP SECURITY MAIDEN HANDICAP (1625m)
HEROIC OSCAR – Bumped on jumping and was slow into stride. Laid in near the 350m.
ROCK A BYE IVY – Bumped on jumping.
DOLLY'S FANCY – Bumped on jumping. Raced wide in the early stages.
HELLUVA SOIREE – Bumped on jumping. Laid in under pressure down the running.
LADY PARVATI – Raced wide in the early stages before obtaining cover in a rearward position. Shifted wider from the 800 and raced wide from that point on. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities. Stewards intend to follow up with Trainer C Geran in the coming days regarding the fillies condition.
RED DECEPTION – Began awkwardly and bumped. Raced keenly in the early stages and laid out near the 1300m having to be steadied.
BRAMBLE BAY – After being slow to begin from a wide barrier, was then permitted to stride forward in the early stages and settled in a leading position nearer the inside running rail near the 1400m.
