SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT
TOOWOOMBA – SATURDAY, 27TH JULY 2024
Race 8: MNP SECURITY MAIDEN HANDICAP (1625m)
LADY PARVATI- Trainer C Geran advised that the mare had pulled up well following the run adding that the stable were only somewhat disappointed with the performance noting that, in his opinion, LADY PARVATI would derive a fitness benefit from the run, being only second-up in the preparation over the mile.
GENERAL
Jockey G Cartwright was reprimanded pursuant to AR128(1) for failing to arrive on course the prescribed 45minutes prior to her engagement.
Stewards permitted the following overweights at tonights meeting:
Race 3- Jockey A Thompson +1kg
Race 7- Jockey A Allen +1/2kg
Race 1: TTC MEMBER BRIAN DOBLIE BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1300m
Declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow Stewards to consider an objection lodged by connections of 4th placegetter I PROMISE YOU, against 3rd placegetter TALANA citing interference near the 200m and over the concluding stages. After taking evidence from connections and viewing the official patrol footage Stewards determined that TALANA had shifted out when not fully clear of I PROMISE YOU near the 200m causing that runner to be hampered. In relation to the interference incurred by I PROMISE YOU over the concluding stages, Stewards were of the view that it was a result of an outward shift from IT’SMEMARIO and an inward shift from TALANA, which had been taken in marginally by COBURG at that time, and as such could not be attributed solely to TALANA. In considering the matter in its entirety, Stewards could not be comfortably satisfied that the interference incurred by I PROMISE YOU, which was attributable to TALANA, had any tangible effect on the finishing order and as such dismissed the protest and declared correct weight on the Judges semaphored numbers.
I PROMISE YOU- Laid in near the 550m. Shifted out marginally away form heels on entering the home straight. Hampered near the 200m, having to be momentarily steadied and shifted in. Shifted in abruptly soon after and bumped another runner. Momentarily hampered and held up on heels over the concluding stages and subsequently went to the line without being fully tested.
TALANA- Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped before blundering soon after. Raced keenly when being restrained to obtain a position with cover nearer the inside running rail approaching the 1000m. Laid out rounding the home turn. App D Bennett dropped his whip on entering the home straight. Commenced to lay out on entering the home straight and shifted out when not fully clear of I PROMISE YOU near the 200m, before being corrected and shifting back in marginally. App D Bennett was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) as a result of this incident. Bumped by another runner over the concluding stages and shifted in marginally.
IT'SMEMARIO- Held up for clear running from a point approaching the 400m until being shifted wider passing the 350m. Bumped near the 200m. Laid out under pressure over the concluding stages, despite the efforts of its rider.
SUISSE SCANDAL (NZ)- Began awkwardly. Under pressure from the 600m and commenced to yield ground soon after. Was not placed under any pressure in the home straight. Jockey L Tilley advised that, in his opinion, the work required by the gelding to obtain a positive position in the early stages was a telling factor in the finish but was nonetheless disappointing in its finishing efforts. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer M Currie advised that he intended to have the gelding examined by the stable veterinarian in the coming days and undertook to advise the results of that examination.
COBURG- Bumped when crowded on jumping and was slow into stride. Shifted out and away from heels soon after entering the home straight. Laid in under pressure down the running, shifting in and bumping approaching the winning post.
RADIANT QUEEN- Laid in under pressure down the running.
Race 2: EMPIRE OF JAPAN BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1300m
Shortly prior to the running of this event it was identified that several of the course proper lights between the 1600m and 1300m were not operating at full capacity. After conferring with the riding group at the barrier it was determined that adequate natural lighting existed to allow the running of the event. After which remedial efforts were commenced and the issue rectified.
TELEPHONE BOOTH- After beginning only fairly from the wide barrier was ridden conservatively in the early stages to obtain a position with cover nearer the inside running rail.
VONZITHER- Bumped with TIJUANA TWO STEP near the 350m, when that runner was shifting wider to improve and did so on several further occasions before bumping heavily on entering the home straight. Bumped near the 200m. Laid in near the winning post becoming momentarily awkwardly placed on heels.

When asked to comment on the performance Trainer P Nolan advised that, in his opinion, the gelding appreciates greater spacing of its runs noting the shorter turn around as a telling factor in tonights performance.
FLYING ROTHE- Raced keenly and laid out passing the 1600m. Again, laid out when racing keenly passing the 1400m. Laid out from the 600m and proved difficult to ride out. Trainer V Heading was advised that a warning would be placed against the geldings record as a result.
LEERY- Improved onto heels approaching the 400m and was held up for clear running from that point until the 250m. Laid in under pressure down the running.
BRAVE BOY- Bumped on jumping. Raced keenly in the early stages, shifting in and away form heels near the 1900m. Tired noticeably in the home straight. Trainer C Zintillis advised on 4 August that the gelding had pulled up well following the event and intentions would be to continue with the preparation.
ZOU ZOUAMORE- Improved onto heels having to be restrained near the 1600m.
ROYAL GEORGE- Bumped on jumping. Raced wide from the 1500m.

POWER PACK- Raced keenly near the 1300m. Raced keenly on heels near the 1000m and was shifted wider. Laid in approaching the 300m, crowding runners to the inside, despite the efforts of its rider. Laid in on entering the home straight and shifted into the running of LISARO, when not fully clear. App D Bennett was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) as a result of this incident. In considering the matter, Stewards noted an outward shifted from runners to the inside which contributed to the tightening of LISARO. Shifted out and bumped approaching the 200m.
OVERSEAS (NZ)- Raced keenly near the 1300m. Shifted in marginally and crowded HE’S VIRAL near the 1000m. Jockey L Tarrant was advised to exercise greater care in similar circumstances. Tightened and obliged to restrain approaching the 300m.

HE'S VIRAL (NZ)- Crowded and obliged o steady near the 1000m. Raced keenly on heels approaching the 400m.
STAR CHANCE- Shifted out around heels to improve approaching the 300m when not fully clear of OVERSEAS. Jockey M Wishart was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) as a result of this incident. In considering the matter Stewards noted an inward shift form runners to the outside which contributed to the crowding of OVERSEAS. When queried regarding the seemingly improved performance Trainer J Aitkenhead stated that, in her opinion, the gelding benefited from the step up in distance, the favourable barrier draw and the firmer track conditions; compared to recent starts.
Race 5: COOPER COMMERCIAL MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200m
Declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow Trainer B Healey (NEWSBEAT) to view footage of the home straight to determine whether there were grounds for an objection against 3rd placegetter FIELDOFMARS. App D Bennett was reminded of his obligations to stop and straighten his mounts sooner in similar circumstances, as well as advised to cease persisting with employing the whip, in the left hand, on his mounts which have displayed a strong disposition to lay in.
MAJOR FREESTONE- Over-raced on heels near the 800m.
ELLEYANNA- Bumped on jumping. Crowded and bumped leaving the 1000m, having to be steadied. Obliged to momentarily steady and shift in away from heels near the 800m. NITROGEN- Raced keenly in the middle stages. Bumped near the 400m. Stewards noted App D Bennetts elbow became elevated when in close proximity to another rider near the 400m. Stewards determined that as App Bennett was attempting to shift out to improve PELE PRINCESS (App S Callow) was endeavoring to hold its respective line directly to his outside and as App Bennett was riding with a long rein at that time his elbow became elevated as he applied greater pressure on his mount in an effort to shift wider and any contact with his elbow and App Callow was inadvertent. Nonetheless, Stewards advised App Bennett to review his technique to ensure his riding and actions in similar circumstances are at all times beyond reproach. Laid in under pressure down the running.
PELE PRINCESS- Slow to begin before being crowded. Raced keenly near the 1100m. Bumped near the 400m and again near the 300m. Stewards noted App S Callows elbow became elevated when in close proximity to another rider near the 400m. Stewards determined that as NITROGEN (App D Bennett) was attempting to be shifted wider to improve App Callow was endeavouring to hold her mounts line, whilst riding with a long rein, and her elbow became elevated when applying greater pressure to the inside rein to prevent her mount from being shifted wider and any contact with her elbow and App Bennett was inadvertent.
