SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT

Race 1: EMPIRE OF JAPAN BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP  1300m
 
DEPTH CHARGE- A review of the betting records associated with the event identified no activity of interest pertaining to the performance of the gelding and as such Stewards took no further action in that regard. Regarding App Fenlons riding of the gelding, the matter was referred to the Racing Queensland Apprentice Training Team for review and further tuition.
 
 
GENERAL
 
Stewards permitted the following overweights at tonights meeting:
 
Race 3- Jockey J Huxtable +1/2kg
 
 
As Jockey W O’Connell was unable to fulfil his engagements due to illness, replacements were permitted as per Stewards race day summary.
 
 
Trainer M Currie was fined the sum of $200 under the provisions of LR43 in that on the morning of 30 September 2024 he did have unlicensed staff working in his registered stabling address at Toowoomba Turf Club. Additionally, Mr Currie was reprimanded pursuant to LR44 for failing to provide a letter of authority for his runners at tonights meeting.
 
 
 
Race 1: PCP SOLUTIONS BM58 HANDICAP  1300m
 
BEAN ROCKING- App R Thorburn was reminded of his obligations under the provisions of AR128(1) to ensure he arrives on course 45minutes prior to the commencement of his engagements.
 
OLD SALT- Raced wide for the majority.
 
PICADOR- Laid in under pressure own the running proving somewhat difficult to ride out.
 
TOMYDONKA- Momentarily hampered near the 50m.
 
BETTER THAN BOOZE- Raced keenly near the 1000m.
 
TAKARA STAR- Began awkwardly. Laid out under pressure down the running, shifting out near the 50m and momentarily hampering another runner.
 
SAVVY BEE (NZ)- Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. Began awkwardly. Laid in for the majority. Held up for clear running approaching the 400m until a point approaching the 300m.
 
ALL WIN- Connections advised it would be the intention to have the gelding ridden more conservatively than in its most recent starts. Was ridden accordingly.
 
RADIANT QUEEN- Slow into stride and lost ground. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
 
 
Race 2: CHIA-SHENG CHUI CLASS 2 HANDICAP  1000m
 
BELLA BABE- Raced in restricted room and was unable to be ridden out from the 200m until the 100m when obliged to ease from heels.
 
MASTER GEE- Bumped on jumping and became momentarily awkwardly placed on heels soon after.
 
KWAMI- Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Bumped on jumping. Raced keenly in the early stages. Laid in rounding the home turn, becoming momentarily awkwardly placed on heels near the 350m.
 
SECRET SPY- Buffeted on jumping and became awkwardly placed on heels soon after having to be steadied, consequently settled further back in the field than may have been expected. Commenced to shift in near the 200m placing BELLA BABE in restricted room before continuing to shift in and obliging that runner to ease from heels near the 100m. App L Sykes was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding as a result of this incident. When asked to comment on the performance App Sykes advised that, in his opinion, having to settle further back in the field was to the geldings detriment.
 
FLUDWAY- Began awkwardly and bumped. Raced wide for the majority. Jockey K Zechner advised that, in his opinion, being caught wide was a telling factor in the geldings finishing efforts and a fitness benefit would be derived from the run.
 
HUSS ON FIRST- Bumped on jumping. Held up for clear running from the 200m until being shifted wider near the 50m.
 
LETS DANCE JANDY- Bumped on jumping. App O Kendal advised that, in her opinion, her mount was not suited by the fast early tempo which was telling in the finish.
 
VIENNESE LOVER- Bumped on jumping. Laid in soon after the start and crowded SECRET SPY. Raced wide throughout. Finished somewhat tailed off. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
 
 
The racing surface was upgraded to a Good 3 following the running of this event.
 
 
Race 3: THE NITSCHKE FAMILY CLASS 3 HANDICAP  1625m
 
ROMAN DAGGER (NZ)- Slow into stride. Shifted out and bumped near the 400m. A post-race veterinary examination found the gelding to be exhibiting clinical signs of the thumps.
 
CONNEWARRE- Improved onto heels near the 1200m having to be steadied. Improved onto the heels of a tiring runner near the 500m and was held up until being shifted wider passing the 300m.
 
BRINGME- Began awkwardly. After being caught wide in the early stages was permitted to stride forward from the 1300m and settled in a leading position on the inside running rail near the 900m. Laid in under pressure down the running.
 
FIDDLER ONTHE ROOF- Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Laid in under pressure down the running.
 
JUBILANT- Began awkwardly. Raced wide in the early stages before being restrained and settling in a rearward position with cover soon after entering the back straight. Bumped near the 400m.
 
DOONA- After beginning only fairly from the wide barrier was restrained in an effort to obtain a position with cover nearer the inside running rail. Raced keenly in the back straight.
 
GOOD LIFE DIVA- Connections advised it would be the intention to have the mare settle in a more forward position than in is most recent starts should circumstances permit. Was ridden accordingly. Raced keenly when being restrained near the 1400m in an effort to obtain a position with cover and raced keenly for some distance thereafter. Under pressure from the 500m when commencing to weaken.
 
 
Race 4: BURLING BROWN ARCHITECTS QTIS THREE-YEARS-OLD MAIDEN PLATE  1000m
 
DOITLIKEMAXWELL- Blundered on jumping. Laid in near the 900m, despite the efforts of its rider, crowding runners to the inside. When asked to comment on the performance Jockey L Tilley advised that, in his opinion, the gelding may not appreciate the undulating surface having trialled well elsewhere. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
 
ORIENTE- Raced wide for the majority.
 
READY GREY- Trainer R Lipp was reprimanded pursuant to AR102(a) for failing to enact a stable return amending READY GREY’s status to a gelding. Bumped on the hindquarters near the 900m, becoming unbalanced and shifting out. Improved onto heels near the 100m having to be steadied.
 
SHADYVALE AL- Tightened on jumping having to be steadied and lost ground.
 
FULLY SUBSCRIBED- Shifted out and bumped on jumping. Severely tightened for room near the 900m, buffeted and lost some ground. In considering the incident Stewards identified that both RUMI STAR and DOITLIKEMAXWELL were laying in despite the efforts of their riders, as well as READY GREY which shifted out after being bumped on the hindquarters were the primary cause of the tightening. As such no rider/s could be held accountable and no further action was taken.
 
RUMI STAR- Began awkwardly, shifted in and bumped. Laid in away from another runner near the 900m. Held up for clear running near the 300m.
 
WANTSOMEMOREOFIT- Held up for clear running from the 400m until shifting wider leaving the 300m.
 
 
Race 5: GIBSON LIVESTOCK BM70 HANDICAP  1050m
 
WRITTLE- Trainer L Hatch advised that, in his opinion, the heavy weight impost was a telling factor in the finish, adding that the gelding would derive a significant fitness benefit from the run.
 
CHARLIE SPHENE- Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start.
 
RIVER NOIRE- Bumped near the 350m. Raced wide for the majority. On returning to the mounting yard was found to have bled from both nostrils in running. Trainer D Groves was advised that as this was the second such occurrence the mare would be barred from racing in Australia pursuant to AR79.
 
SMILING ZAC (NZ)- Began awkwardly and became awkwardly placed on heels soon after. Raced wide from the 500m.
 
GROOVIN' THE MOO- Bumped passing the 350m.
 
BRAVE WARRIOR- Bumped the inside running rail near the 300m. Improved into a run to the inside of CHARLIE SPHENE leaving the 100m when there was insufficient running room to do so and had to be restrained from heels as a result. App A Graham was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding as a result of this incident. Additionally, the matter will be referred to the Racing Queensland Apprentice Training Team for further tuition.
 
 
Race 6: GEOFF'S FINAL DRIVE MAIDEN HANDICAP  870m
 
ALZURRI- Momentarily hampered near the 50m. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
 
CASUAL MAN- Stewards accepted the reasons provided by Trainer G Banks for the geldings late arrival on course. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination, inclusive of pre-race blood samples, which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Buffeted and lost some ground on jumping.
 
WICKED WINNEY- Momentarily hampered near the 100m.
 
COLONEL PARKER- Laid in near the 400m. App J Molloy was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) in that he did cease riding his mount out for 2 strides near the 50m, before resuming to apply sufficient vigour over the concluding stages. Stewards noted App Molloys actions had no tangible effect on the placings.
 
SUMMER BRIDE- Slow to begin. Obliged to shift wider on entering the home straight to obtain clear running. Continued to shift out further from the 150m, momentarily hampering WICKED WINNY near the 100m and ALZURRI near the 50m. Jockey L Tarrant was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding as a result.
 
PRINCESS LUTETIA- Laid out near the 400m.
 
COLTMAN- Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. When queried regarding the improved performance Trainer L Schwenke advised that the geldings work leading into its two most recent outings had improve notable and after pulling up well from its most recent outing he had expected a forward showing.
 
 
Race 7: VALE JOHN FORDE SNR MAIDEN HANDICAP  1625m
 
NOT A SINGLE DRINK- Buffeted on jumping. Bumped the inside running rail near the 900m. Bumped the inside running rail near the 200m.
 
UNDERINVESTIGATION- Bumped on jumping.
 
POSTMAN'S GAP- Trainer M Currie was reprimanded pursuant to AR102(a) for failing to enact a stable return amending POSTMAN’S GAP’s status to a gelding- Bumped on jumping. Raced keenly in the early stages. Raced wide from the 800m. Laid in under pressure down the running.
 
STARATH- Bumped on jumping. Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Bumped near the 200m.
 
FLYING JEWEL- Raced keenly in the early and middle stages. Laid in approaching the 400m. App C Baker advised her mount travelled only fairly throughout the event. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
 
BANKSIA BEACH- Buffeted on jumping. Improved onto heels near the 350m and was momentarily held up. Laid in under pressure down the running.
 
NYTHE- Bumped on jumping.
