QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT TOOWOOMBA TURF CLUB SATURDAY 19TH OCTOBER 2024 WEATHER – Fine TRACK RATING – Good 4; Good 3 following Race 2 RAIL – Out 4metres the entire OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – C WarrenStewards – J Childs & C Taylor GENERAL As App L Sykes was unable to claim his full allowance on GOOD DAY MAE in Race 6 Stewards permitted App S Willis to be substituted as rider of the filly. App Sykes was fined the sum of $200 under the provisions of AR143(14)(a), Stewards noted the early notification of his inability to satisfy the weight as a mitigating factor. Additionally, Stewards advised App Sykes that his minimum riding weight would now be raised from 52kg to 53.5kg due to his extremely poor record in relation to the rule. Race 1: TILLY'S EARTHMOVING SPARE PARTS CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1200m GRAND METEOR- Bumped on several occasions near the 500m. SUPER QUICK- Bumped on jumping. Shifted out to improve near the 300m and bumped. GAZZA'S DIAMOND- Bumped on jumping. Shifted in under pressure near the 100m tightening runners to the inside. App R Thorburn was severely reprimanded for careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) and advised to employ corrective efforts at a far earlier juncture when his mounts commence to shift. When asked to comment on the performance App Thorburn advised his mount travelled well but failed to let down over the final furlong. Stable representative B Mackie advised that consideration would now be given to freshening the mare prior to racing again. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. SIR BEVERIDGE- Raced wide for the majority. LA MANO- Bumped on jumping. Raced wide from the 800m. Bumped on several occasions near the 500m. Bumped on the hindquarters leaving the 300m and became unbalanced. Tightened and obliged to restrain near the 100m. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. BOOM BOOM BELLA- Became momentarily awkwardly placed on heels soon after the start. TORRENTIAL- Bumped on jumping. MY MOSES- Crowded near the 100m. Race 2: MAKTRANS QLD BM60 HANDICAP 1100m FAST FUSION- After beginning well but being caught wide in the early stages was steadied was steadied to obtain a position with cover just off the pace. DEVIL'S RITE- Began awkwardly. Laid in under pressure down the running. COMMAND APPROVED- Began awkwardly. Laid in and bumped the inside running rail near the 500m. Laid in and away from another runner approaching the winning post, bumping the inside running rail and becoming unbalanced. MACHINE HEAD- Raced keenly in the early and middle stages, over-racing near the 600m. FIERY RING- Began awkwardly. Shifted in when not fully clear of ROWDASH near the 900m. App D Bennett was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) as a result of this incident. Bumped the inside running rail leaving the 900m. Held up for clear running from the 450m until a point approaching the 300m. ROWDASH- Obliged to steady from heels near the 900m. The racing surface was upgraded to a Good 3 following this event. Race 3: CARRINGTON ROAD BAKEAWAY MAIDEN HANDICAP 1000m POWIAS- Laid out rounding the home turn. ORIENTE- Bumped on jumping. After beginning only fairly was ridden positively in the early stages to obtain a forward position and was posted wide until a point near the 450m when shifted in when not fully clear of KOOL BRUCE. Jockey N Tomizawa was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) for careless riding as a result of this incident. SHE'S GOT LYRICS- Bumped and crowded on jumping. Bumped near the 450m before improving onto heels and having to be steadied. Crowded and became momentarily awkwardly placed on heels near the 200m. CAPITAL BEAUTY- After beginning only fairly from the wide barrier was ridden conservatively to obtain a rearward position nearer the inside running rail. Had difficulty obtaining clear running leaving the 200m. ALZURRI- Bumped on jumping. FRODASH- Was late arriving on course after proving difficult to load on the horse transport vehicle. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination, inclusive of pre-race blood samples, and was passed fit to start. Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the middle stages. Improved onto heels near the 450m, shifted out and bumped. Momentarily held up for clear running before shifting to the outside of heels near the 300m. KOOL BRUCE- Bumped soon after the start. Crowded and bumped when obliged to steady near the 450m. STELLER EAGLE- Began awkwardly. Momentarily crowded and bumped soon after the start. Raced keenly on heels near the 500m. Bumped near the 450m. Held up rounding the home turn before improving into a marginal run along the inside running rail. Race 4: TOOWOOMBA TRUCK SPARES BM70 HANDICAP 1000m GROOVIN' THE MOO- Bumped on jumping. CHARLIE SPHENE- Bumped on jumping. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be exhibiting clinical signs of the thumps. TOKYO SINS- Began awkwardly and bumped. Bumped and placed on restricted room approaching the winning post. PARTY SPIRIT- Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped. GROOMED- Blundered and bumped on jumping. COPPER SUNSET- Shifted out to obtain clear running leaving the 50m and bumped TOKYO SINS, placing that runner in restricted room over the concluding stages. Jockey L Tarrant was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) as a result of this incident. KWAMI- Bumped on jumping. Laid in under pressure down the running. Race 5: TOOWOOMBA BETTA HOME LIVING BM62 HANDICAP 1890m NERANO- Laid out under pressure down the running. KNEZE- Raced keenly on heels near the 1500m. Held up on heels from the 400m to the 300m. TAVIESLASS (NZ)- App M Castle was severely reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(i), in that she did use her whip in consecutive strides (3 strides_ prior to the 100m. In considering the matter Stewards noted App Castles good record in relation to the rule. SKYLON (NZ)- Raced wide in the early stages. Weakened from the 550m and finished tailed off. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer A Park advised that connections would now consider the geldings immediate racing future. Nonetheless, Stewards advised Ms Park that the gelding would be required to satisfactorily trial prior to again being permitted to start in a race. ALERT AND READY- Raced keenly in the middle stages. Bumped the inside running rail near the 900m. ROYAL GEORGE- Began awkwardly. WINSTON BLUE- Slow to begin. Improved onto heels approaching the 900m and was obliged to momentarily steady and shift in. Race 6: HARVEY NORMAN QTIS THREE-YEARS-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200m WELLY- Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer M Sears advised that in light of the disappointing performance the intention would be for the stable veterinarian to examine the gelding in the coming days, inclusive of an endoscopic examination, and undertook to advise Stewards of the outcome. MISSION POSSIBLE- Trainer S Hardy was advised that as the gelding had been scratched with a veterinary condition it would require a veterinary clearance prior to again being permitted to start in a race. APACHE HALO- Began awkwardly. Became awkwardly placed on heels near the 950m. Held up for clear running over the final 50m. AIN'T TELLIN- Bumped near the 500m. Laid in under pressure down the running. MISHANI EXPRESS- Taken in marginally away from heels near the 950m. MISSING BOUNDARIES- Crowded marginally approaching the winning post. PEPPER SPRAY- Began awkwardly. GOOD DAY MAE- Whilst racing keenly near the 950m was bumped and taken in, becoming awkwardly placed on heels for several strides and continued to race keenly for some distances thereafter. SUGAR ISLAND- Shifted in near the 950m taking MISHANI EXPRESS in marginally which crowded GOOD DAY MAE. Jockey N Evans was reprimanded for careless riding pursuant to AR131(a) as a result of this incident. HORRIBLE HANK- Bumped passing the 500m. ROTHWEILER- Obliged to steady off heels near the 950m. Momentarily held up for clear running on entering the home straight. Race 7: SBI -SPRAY, BLAST, INSPECT MAIDEN PLATE 1625m MALECON- Bumped and crowded on jumping. READY TO FLIRT- Began awkwardly. Raced keenly near the 1500m. Shifted out and away from heels near the 1400m. Under pressure from the 700m and commenced to give ground. Jockey L Tilley was unable to offer any tangible explanation for the poor performance. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer R Heathcote was advised the mare would be required to satisfactorily trial prior to again being permitted to start in a race. TOY DANDY- Shifted out and away from heels near the 1400m. Raced keenly near the 1300m. Taken wider by another runner near the 800m. Obliged to momentarily steady from heels leaving the 200m. UNDERINVESTIGATION- Bumped on jumping, became awkwardly placed on heels shifted in and bumped again. CALL SIGN- Shifted out and bumped on jumping. Raced keenly in the early stages, over-racing near the 1400m having to be shifted out away from heels. Continued to over-race in the back straight and hung out for the majority. Trainer M Sears advised the gelding would now likely be sent for an immediate spell with connections to consider its immediate racing future. Nonetheless, Ms Sears was advised the gelding would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to again being permitted to start in a race. LADY BOSSA NOVA- Jockey K Yoshida was reminded of his obligations pursuant to AR131(b) to ensure he rides his mounts out fully to the finish. PARRA- Bumped when crowded on jumping. Shifted out around the heels of a tiring runner near the 800m and raced wide from that point. Improved onto heels leaving the 200m when App Castle dropped her rein, PARRA then shifted out abruptly as a result before App Castle regathered her hold.
