SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT


GENERAL
 
Stewards accepted the following overweight for today’s racing:
 
Race 3: Les Tilley +0.50kg (56.5kg)
 
Routine breath testing was carried out with several riders being selected. After initially displaying a reading above the accepted threshold, Rider A. Thompson was tested on two more occasions returning a level again above the accepted threshold. On this basis, Rider A. Thompson was stood down from his riding engagements at the meeting and after taking some initial evidence, the matter was adjourned to a date to be fixed. Rider A. Thompson was advised that prior to him resuming riding, he must provide a sample of his breath analysis, which is below the accepted threshold.

Race 1: TAYLOR BUILDING GROUP QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1000 M

 KING OF GERALDINE – Raced 3 wide without cover. When under pressure in the home straight laid in. Trainer D Stanbridge was notified a warning would be placed on the gelding for being difficult to load.
 
OKANUI –Tightened after the start for several strides. Bumped with Kachina Girl passing the 800m.
 
SPIRITOFTHEWORLD – Became unbalanced after contacting the rail near the 700m. When under pressure in straight laid in. Passing the 200m, shifted out taking LADY BARBAROSSA wider.
 
KACHINA GIRL –Passing the 800m was bumped by OKANUI and became unbalanced. Lost near fore plate in running.
 
LADY BARBAROSSA – Began awkwardly. Raced 3 wide throughout. Taken out slightly passing the 200m. Trainer K Kemp was advised a warning would be placed on the filly for being difficult to load.
 
TRADING ROOM – Began awkwardly, shifted in and tightened KACHINA GIRL and OKANUI for several strides. Near the 700m shifted in and steadied from the heels of OKANUI. Raced 3 wide with cover.

Race 2: FLAIR BUILT HOMES QTIS TWO-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN PLATE 1000 M

 MHASAHN – Near the 400m became badly unbalanced and turned sideways when tightened.
 
MISHANI IMPACT – Slow to begin.
 
NASIRON – On jumping, shifted in and bumped SWEET HESITATION, which in turn shifted in and inconvenienced UP OVER’NGONE. Laid out from 800m to near the 600m.
 
UP OVER'N GONE – Upon arrival to the barriers underwent a veterinary examination after making heavy contact with the enclose gate when entering onto the track. Inconvenienced at the start. Raced greenly in the straight.
 
BRAIDWOOD ROSE – Late withdrawal by order of Stewards at 11:53am due to transport difficulties.
 
KVAS – Near the 400m, tightened onto the rail and severely checked by MHASAHN, which laid in and away from SWEET HESITATION(App B Wheeler), which was racing tight to the outside and momentarily shifted in before being corrected. In this incident MHASAHN became badly unbalanced and turned sideways. Whilst noting the racing manners of MHASAHN, app B Wheeler was reprimanded and advised he must ensure he give sufficient racing room for inside runners in similar circumstances.
 
 
PINK VIXEN - Slow to begin.
 
SWEET HESITATION – Bumped at the start.

Race 3: LIVEWIRED ELECTRICAL MAIDEN HANDICAP 870 M

HUKA FALLS – Slow into stride. Raced 4 wide without cover.
 
JEROME – Slow to begin. Raced 4 wide without cover.
 
TOO MANY THOUGHTS – Held up for a run from the 500m until the 300m. For a short distance approaching the 100m, raced tight to the inside of DATA LEAK (A Jones). Rider A Jones was advised to exercise more care.
 
PLEA – Slow to begin.
 
TWOPENCE – Late withdrawal @ 11:32am on veterinary advice after a floating incident prior to arriving on course. Trainer P Randall was advised a veterinary clearance would be required prior to racing again.
 

Race 4: KENNARDS HIRE MAIDEN HANDICAP 1300 M

 DEL TITO – Raced 3 wide without cover.
 
STOCKS 'N' BONDS – Slow into stride.
 
JAYEMAH - Slow to begin. In the early stages, despite the urgings of rider R Payne, was reluctant to tack onto the field and tailed out by a considerable distance from the 600m. Trainer R Hardy was notified the gelding would now be restricted to racing at non-TAB or country venues, until it establishes acceptable form.  A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had a poor respiratory recovery. Trainer R Hardy was also advised JAYEMAH would require a veterinary clearance including results of an endoscopic examination prior to racing again.
 
STELLA ROSA - Whilst parading behind the gates, STELLA ROSSA became fractious, lunged forward and dislodged rider J Stanley. Bumped on jumping. For some distance approaching the 1000m raced keenly with its head up. After the race, rider J Stanley advised he was feeling slight discomfort in his right shoulder, however; could continue his riding engagements.
 
ROTHECATE– Bumped on jumping.
 
DARLING TAKE CARE - When under pressure in the home straight laid in.

Race 5: WAGNER CIVIL CLASS 1 PLATE & MAIDEN PLATE 2150 M

FLASH PRINCE – Steadied passing the 500m. Passing the 150m, App J McMurray lost the use of his offside reign for several strides before regathering.
 
LUPINE (NZ) – Slow into stride. Passing the 500m, shifted out after steadying off the heels of FLASH PRINCE, which steadied when tightened by SO YOU ARE. On two occasions when under pressure in the straight, shifted out, obliging app B Wheeler to stop riding and correct the gelding.
 
THEBARBEROFSEVILLE – Passing the 2000m, got its head up and over-raced. NAVILLUS HELLFIRE, which was following, raced keenly and close to the heels of THEBARBEROFSEVILLE, shifted out abruptly and inconvenienced ADELAIDES LACE. Continued to race keenly and wide without cover for some distance in the middle stages.
 
ADELAIDE'S LACE – Inconvenienced passing the 2000m.
 
MAKE HASTE – Slow to begin. Approaching 400m, checked when tightened between THEBARBEROFSEVILLE & FRIJOLES, which shifted out after being bumped by LUPINE (App B Wheeler), which commenced to shift out before being straightened. App B Wheeler was severely reprimanded for this incident.
 
NAVILLUS HELLFIRE – Jumped awkwardly and lost ground.
 
RODEO LEGEND – A post-race veterinary examination on RODEO LEGEND, which tailed the field from the 800m, revealed the gelding had a irregular heartbeat. Trainer G Barbierato was advised a veterinary clearance, including the results of an ECG, was required prior to racing again.  
 
 
Race 6: HARVEY NORMAN COMMERCIAL TOOWOOMBA BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP 1625 M

 
CONNEWARRE – Carried to a 4 wide position without cover approaching the 1000m when ARCHERS GAME shifted out before being corrected. When questioned app O Kendall stated she was asked to have the gelding settled midfield, which she was able to do, however; approaching the 1000m was carried wider when ARCHERS GAME shifted out. She said she attempted to come back to find cover, however; as other horses improved to her inside, was obliged to settle at the rear of the field. She added CONNEWARRE then despite her riding, failed to respond until approaching the home turn where again she was obliged to race wide to improve and with the gelding only having a short sprint, responded moderately in the straight. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
LIETUVA – Lost near fore plate in running.
 
ROMAN HEIR – For a short distance in the middle stages was obliged to race 3 wide without cover.
 
JETPACK VERDI (NZ) – Approaching 50m, steadied when racing in restricted room between LIETVA and ROMAN HEIR. Lost off hind plate in running.
 
Race 7: ELEGANT BLINDS TOOWOOMBA BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1300 M

 GOT YOURSELF A GUN – Slow to begin. Raced 3 wide without cover form the 800m.
 
EARL OF DEVON (NZ) – In the early stages hung in.
 
TOO MUCH MAKEUP – Began awkwardly with its head up, then inconvenienced by KEWELL, which shifted out.
 
HARD TO DISMISS – App R Thorburn stated the gelding may not have been suited by today’s track conditions. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
KEWELL – From a short distance near the 250m, steadied when awkwardly placed between EARL OF DEVON and RUBAAHY.
 
Race 8: HANNAS BENCHMARK 58 HANDICAP 1300 M

MASTER GEE– Raced 3 wide without cover from the 800m.
 
MYSTERY POWER – Bucked shortly after the start and took no further competitive part in the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer L Hatch was notified the gelding is required to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again.
 
ALL VALOUR – When under pressure in the straight, laid in proving difficult to ride.
 
ALONTRO – Approaching the 1000m, steadied when tightened by BURNETT, which was taken in by I PROMISE YOU (App K Lenton), which shifted in when not clear. App K Lenton was severely reprimanded for this incident.
 
HUMAN TOUCH – On leaving the gates, checked when ALL VALOUR began awkwardly and shifted in abruptly.
 
Race 9: COOPER COMMERCIAL BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP 1000 M

XERRI – Raced 3 wide without cover.
 
RUSSIAN MINT– Raced keenly early and middle stages.
 
UCHI –When under pressure in the straight, laid in. App R Thornburn was spoken to advisedly about raising his whip arm above shoulder height passing the 50m.
 
AFFINITY FLYER – Jumped awkwardly, shifting in bumping LEVAR. Raced 3 wide without cover.
 
REIGNING ALPHA – Approaching the 50m, laid in towards the heels of UCHI and steadied.
 
PITAVAGO – Jumped awkwardly. Held up passing the 250m and went to the end of the race without being tested.
 
LEVAR – Bumped on jumping.
 
ASTIN LANE – Held up for a run from the 200m and went to the end of the race without being tested.
 
App O Kendall, rider of VAST KAMA, pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that she used her whip on 9 occasions prior to the 100m and on 17 occasions in totality. App O Kendall permit to ride in races was suspended for a period of 9 days to commence midnight the 16th of February and to expire midnight the 25th of February 2025. In determining penalty, account was taken of her guilty plea, record in this area and the QRIC whip penalty guidelines.
 
Race 10:CARPET ONE TOOWOOMBA BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1200 M

GROOVIN' THE MOO – Slow into stride. Raced 3 wide without cover.
 
PESHWA – Rider K Wilson-Taylor reported the gelding didn’t fell right in its action when placed under pressure and was eased down from the 150m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with the stable in the following days.
 
MEAN APPROACH – Reared as the gates open.
 
CRACKER ESSGEE - Raced 3 wide without cover from the 800m.
 
BEIRUT MISS - Underwent a veterinary examination behind the barriers at the request of the rider.
 
BUTT HEADS – Passing the 800m contacted the rail and became unbalanced.
