SUPPLEMENTARY REPORTS:
Toowoomba Turf Club December 26, 2009 Race 4 – Jockey P Wolfgram (REVERSE RULER) was reprimanded for striking his mount in 2 consecutive strides under AR137A(5)(a)(i).
Race 1: JEWELS OF THE RANGE CLASS 3 HANDICAP – 1100M.
1st – Stop Lying 2nd – Fille De Neige 3rd – Love Hit Me 4th – Nobbys Mate
Track temperature: 30 degrees celcius
Trainer B Baldwin (FILLE DE NEIGE) was fined $100 for late declaration of rider under LR70.
Trainer T Pascoe (LOVE HIT ME) advised Stewards that there would be a change of riding tactics adopted today. Trainer Pascoe said he wished the horse to be ridden quietly and for the horse to be placed off the speed and travelling comfortably if at all possible. Trainer Pascoe said he would instruct jockey M Dorrington to endeavour to ride the mare in this position if possible depending on conditions of the race. Stewards noted the mares record to be up on the pace however advised all avenues of the change of tactics.
HARDACTTOFOLLOW (J Kehoe), which jumped away awkwardly and out, commenced to buck shortly after the start and took no further part in the race. Trainer T Malseed’s representative was advised the gelding is to pass 2 official barrier trials to Stewards satisfaction prior to next racing.
STOP LYING (R Goltz) jumped inwards at the start.
Approaching the 950m IMAGINED (A Taylor) was steadied when taken in by FILLE DE NEIGE (N Evans) and in so doing both COSMIC CRUZ (C Eaton) and TAMILDA (D Green) were crowded for room by CHEQUE FOR FREEDOM (P Wolfgram) which shifted in and away from FILLE DE NEIGE. In this incident N Evans (FILLE DE NEIGE) was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances.
CHEQUE FOR FREEDOM and IMAGINED both raced wide throughout.
NOBBYS MATE (A Best) raced wide from leaving the 350m onwards.
Jockey C Eaton (MYTHICAL KING) was reprimanded in regard to her failure to parade past the judge prior to going to the barrier as required under AR125
Jockey D Green (TAMILDA) reported he felt that his mount was sore during the race. A post race Veterinary examination of TAMILDA failed to reveal any significant findings.
Race 2: 7 SUNRISE CLASS 1 PLATE – 1625M.
1st – Rogues 2nd – Plain Skar 3rd – Chief Cheron 4th – Mythical King
Track temperature: 27 degrees celcius
Jockey A Taylor (DELICIOUS) was struck in the mouth when her mount threw its head up on the way to the start.
DELICIOUS (A Taylor) and DE VILLE (A Best) were both tightened for room between MAVERICK MAN (R Hurley) and PLAIN SKAR (J Cook) which jumped out.
DE VILLE raced ungenerously in the middle stages of the race.
MAVERICK MAN raced wide throughout the event.
Stewards questioned jockey P Wolfgram as to the instructions given to him with regards to the ride on ROGUES. Jockey Wolfgram stated that he was instructed to obtain a sit off the pace if at all possible because of the early speed of the other runners in the race however, at the 1350m mark when he was caught wide, jockey Wolfgram said he made the decision to allow the horse to go forward and to slow the pace once in front. He believed that by using his initative he would allow the horse to obtain the best possible run in the race. Stewards noted the comment.
Jockey J Cook (PLAIN SKAR) was reprimanded for a breach of AR137A(5)(a)(ii) in that he used the whip in a forehand manner on more than 5 ocassions.
Race 3: XXXX GOLD QTIS THREE-YEARS-OLD CLASS 3 HANDICAP – 1050M.
1st – Pacific Express 2nd – Street Stall 3rd – Secrets 4th - Ruffled
Track teperature: 25 degrees celcius.
SHELDON (A Taylor) began awkwardly and was slow into stride.
Shortly after the start INDIANA (D Green) and JAM TIN (R Goltz) made minor contact and a short distance latter made contact again.
SWIFT SANDS (K Yoshida) and STREET STALL (P Wolfgram) bumped leaving the 900m.
INDIANA (D Green) raced wide throughout.
SECRETS (A Best) raced wide rounding the home turn.
RUFFLED (J Letherby) shifted out under pressure down the straight.
Race 4: 7 TODAY TONIGHT CLASS 2 HANDICAP – 1300M.
1st – Sofie Fatale 2nd – Just A Glamour 3rd – Mother Russia 4th – Shot Of The Rails
Track teperature: 23 degrees celcius.
Trainer J Bannon (JUST A GLAMOUR) was fined $100 for late declaration of rider under LR70
MIND STAR (D Green) jumped with its head in the air.
BRONZE TINKA (S Apthorpe) was slowly away.
Shortly after the start MISTER MAVERICK (K Yoshida) shifted out taking BART’S PRIDE (C Eaton) across the heels of WOOROOROOKA (A Best).
MIND STAR over raced and got its head in the air in the early stages of the race.
MIND STAR, BRONZE TINKA and MOTHER RUSSIA (A Taylor) all raced wide throughout.
ARGENTEUM (R Goltz) was held up for clear running from leaving the 500m until entering the home straight.
Near the 50m MISTER MAVERICK and BRONZE TINKA came together making heavy contact.
BART’S PRIDE (C Eaton) was held up for clear running from leaving the 400m until the early stages of the home straight.
Jockey C Eaton (BART’S PRIDE) accidentally dropped her whip leaving the 150m.
Jockey P Wolfgram (SHOT ON THE RAILS) was fined $100 under AR137A(5)(a)(i) for using the whip in consecutive strides.
Jockey K Yoshida (MISTER MAVERICK) was cautioned in regard to his style when using the whip in terms of AR137A(5)(a)(iii).
Trainer J Crompton was questioned regarding the seemingly improved performance of SOFIE FATALE (B Thomson). Trainer Crompton stated the mare was only beaten 1len at her previous start at Chinchilla and had previously raced exceptionally well at Roma where she was only beaten 1.3lens over a shorter distance. Trainer Crompton further stated the mare has always worked well on this track and a forward showing was expected. Stewards noted the comments.
Race 5: XXXX BITTER MAIDEN PLATE – 1300M.
1st – Easy Knight 2nd - Truce 3rd – Kates Courage 4th – Miss Ichi
Track teperature: 23 degrees celcius.
TRUCE (A Best) jumped out making heavy contact with KATES COURAGE (J Letherby) becoming unbalanced and then shifted in tightening MEDICI (J Cook) onto SHREWD HOSTESS (C Eaton) which was taken out by CRÈME LATTE (K Banks).
SUNDAY ADVICE (R Goltz) and KATES COURAGE (J Letherby) raced wide throughout.
EASY KNIGHT (K Yoshida) which was over racing, raced wide throughout.
Approaching the 400m MISS ICHI (N Evans) was hed up for clear running behind KONSTANTIN (P Wolfgram) which was tiring.
TRUCE was inclined to lay in under pressure over the concluding stages of the race.
Race 6: PSP VIDEO CLASS 1 HANDICAP – 1000M.
1st – Ottens 2nd – Street Sign 3rd – She’s Dreamin’ 4th – Cramps

Stewards opened an inquiry into a request by jockey B Thomson to claim a riding fee on MOLLO (S Apthorpe). After taking statements from trainer T Godfrey’s representative (MOLLO) and from jockey B Thomson, Stewards found that through a miss-understanding and a failure in communication there was no reasonable grounds and under the circumstances the request was denied and no further action taken.
At the start AL’S IMAGE (D Green) began awkwardly.
AFLING (N Evans), which was fractious in the barrier, was slow to begin.
STREET SIGN (P Wolfgram) raced wide in the early and middle stages of the race.
Approaching the home turn AFLING laid in tightening and making contact with CRAMPS (J Letherby).
Jockey S Apthorpe (MOLLO) was reprimanded in regard to her failure to parade past the judge prior to going to the barrier as required under AR125
Race 7: SOUTHERN CROSS AUTOMOTIVE CLASS 4 HANDICAP – 1500M.
1st – Professor 2nd – Released 3rd – Canadian Poppy 4th – Stefenick
Track teperature: 20 degrees celcius.
At the start PROFESSOR (J Letherby) jumped in making contact with CANADIAN POPPY (R Goltz) which began awkwardly.
PROFESSOR brushed the running rail of its own accord leaving the 900m .
Jockey P Wolfgram was questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of NANIWA. Jockey Wolfgram stated that the horse travelled well up until the 1000m then after this point the horse seemed to lose concentration and was hard ridden. The horse was then under pressure for the remainder of the race and failed to run on. Stewards noted the comments.
