RACE 1: HICKEY FAMILY/DEL JAMES PATRON BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP – 900m
 
The start of the race one was delayed until 1:42pm.
 
FERRINGNO – The start of the race was delayed when FERRIGNO reared and broke through the barriers. FERRIGNO was declared a late scratching at 1:41pm on veterinary advice. Stewards advised trainer C. Rogers that a warning would be placed on the runner. Following the event Jockey J. Rudd was assessed by the Queensland Ambulance service and due to an injury to his right leg, he was stood down for the remainder of the meeting. Jockey Rudd was advised he would need to obtain a medical certificate prior to returning. Replacements as per Stewards Summary.
 
SNAKE ATTACK – The start was further delayed when SNAKE ATTACK broke through the barriers completing a lap of the track at full pace. SNAKE ATTACK was declared a late scratching at 1:41pm by order of the stewards. Following the event, Jockey N. Evans stood himself down due to suffering an injury to his left arm. Jockey Evans was advised he would need to obtain a further medical certificate prior to returning. Replacements as per Stewards Summary.
 
JEPTOO – Upon returning to the mounting yard, Trainer B. Hudson requested to view the patrol footage to determine if JEPTOO was awarded a fair start. After viewing, Mr Hudson made application for the MARE to be declared a non-runner. After deliberating over the available footage, Stewards were of the opinion that Jeptoo was denied a fair start when the barriers bounced back upon opening, hitting the mare in the head, causing the runner jump outwards towards the outside fence taking no competitive part in the event. JEPTOO was declared a non-runner by order of the stewards.
 
 
Stewards ordered that all monies invested in FERRIGNO, JEPTOO and SNAKE ATTACK be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
 
 
23 cents in the dollar for the win #9
35 cents in the dollar for place of winner #9
27 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #5
31 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #10
 
 
NOT A BAD JOKER – Refused to jump taking no competitive part in the event. Upon returning to scale, Jockey R. Faehr reported that on a number of occasions prior to the start his barrier opened, causing the runner to not be prepared for the start. Due to the circumstances, Trainer C. Vick was advised a warning would be placed on the horse.
 
COALBANK CAVIAR – Began awkwardly.
 
AL HAMZA – Reared in the air at the start and lost ground. Raced wide in the home straight.
 
MOWER – Raced wide in the home straight.
 
 
RACE 2: WESTERN DOWNS REGIONAL COUNCIL/ELDERS WANDOAN OPEN HANDICAP – 900m
 
Prior to the running of race two, Stewards re-assessed the Barriers and ordered that further maintenance be conducted prior to the running of the second event.
 
The start time of race two was amended to 3:00pm.
 
KING OF THE FLAME – Hung out rounding the home turn. Laid in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
TYCOON ZIP – Began awkwardly making contact with a runner to the outside.
 
BRADY ‘N’ ME – Began awkwardly making contact with the inside barrier petition.
 
SQUEEMI – Raced wide throughout.
 
 
RACE 3: MULLINS & MURILLA HARDWARE MITRE 10/P&Y WEBSTER QTIS MAIDEN PLATE – 1000m
 
The start time of race three was amended to 3:27pm
 
ELLEGENT MISS – Refused to load. Declared a late scratching at 3:26pm by order of the stewards. Stewards declared that all monies invested in ELLEGENT MISS be refunded with the following deductions to apply:
 
0 cents in the dollar for the win #5
4 cents in the dollar for place of winner #5
6 cents in the dollar for 2nd place #3
5 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #1
 
Trainer B. Fitzgereald was advised the mare would need to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to returning to race.

 
COCKTAILSALLAROUND – Blundered at the start and lost ground.
 
SPEZIA LADY – Began awkwardly.
 
BACKUP BILLY – Began awkwardly.
 
MIZ NAZAR – Raced wide throughout the early and middle stages.
 
STASH THE SILVER – Jockey C. Rogers was permitted to ride half a kilogram overweight due to no other rider being available.
 
 
RACE 4: WINDMILL VILLAGE WANDOAN/LANDMARK WANDOAN CLASS B HANDICAP – 1200m
 
The start of race four was amended to 4:10pm.
 
SIR TITANITE – Raced in restricted room from the 700 to the 900m.
 
HARLEY HOG – Slow to begin. Upon returning to scale Jockey J. Hoopert reported that the filly did not feel sound in her action. A post-race veterinary examination found the filly not to be lame.
 
BALLINA BAY - Raced wide throughout. Blundered approaching the 350m. A Post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
TAUGHT BY THE BEST – Apprentice N. Morton was permitted to ride half a kilogram overweight due to no other rider being available.
 
RACE 5: RIVERINA STOCKFEEDS WANDOAN CUP BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP – 1200m   
 
The start of race five was amended to 4:50pm
 
DEL DIAVOLO – Upon returning to scale Apprentice Schrapel reported that the step up in class and the firm surface of todays event contributed to the geldings disappointing performance. In his opinion the gelding would also be more suited to an event over a longer distance.
 
ROBERT’S COMMAND – Began awkwardly making contact with another runner to the outside.
 
GUD ONYA - Raced three wide no cover throughout.
