GENERAL
 
Stewards permitted the following weight variations at Appr Jky T Noble + 1.0kg no claim, Race 1 and race 2- Appr R Wedrat Kroezen- only claim 1.5kg of her 3.0kg claim.  Race 4 and Race 5- Jky T Banks +1.0kg.
 
 
Race 1: RDO EQUIPMENT MAIDEN PLATE 825M
 
BILYARA- Slow to begin and raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
CHECKPOINT CHARLIE- Bumped with RAZZAMAGAZZ shortly after the start.
 
TUANAKI CREEK- Bumped with ICONIC MUSIC shortly after the start.
 
ZESTY BIOY- Clerk of the Scales reported to Stewards that Appr Jky was not able to claim her full allowance. After considering the evidence and Ms Wedrat- Kroezen’s inexperience in race riding, Stewards acting under the provision of AR 143(14) Reprimanded Appr Jky R Wedrat- Kroezen for not being able to claim her full allowance in Race 1 and 2.
 
DASHES OF COLOUR- Stood flat footed at the start and lost significant ground, the ran at the rear of the field for the majority of the event. Stewards acting under AR75(1) advised Trainer J Banks the Mare would be required to obtain a barrier pass prior to the next start.
 
RAZAMAGAZZ- Bumped with CHECKPOINT CHARLIE shortly after the start was affected. Raced wide from the 300m for the remainder of the event.
 
URBAN JEWELL- Became fractious in the barriers after being loaded then began awkwardly with the rider losing an iron becoming unbalanced with the horse hitting the ground with its head taking no further part in the event from the 800m point. Stewards delayed the declaration of correct weight to ascertain if URBAN JEWELL was afforded a fair start. Stewards were satisfied the Mare was a starter and then ordered a post-race veterinary examination to be undertaken. This examination revealed mild skin abrasions on the cranial aspect and the right-hand fetlock, no swelling, evidence of bleeding nor any lameness was apparent. No Veterinary Certificate was required. Stewards acting under AR75 (1) Trainer representative for the R Tyrell and T Button stable was advised that the horse would require a barrier pass prior to its next start.
 
ICONIC MUSIC- Bumped with TUANAKI CREEK shortly after the start and then raced greenly from the 700m for a short distance.
 
Race 2: FUTURE3 FUELS QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 1200M
 
LEROY LION- Raced wide for the majority of the event and extremely wide when entering the home turn for the remainder.
 
SUDDEN SUSPECT- Bumped by another runner shortly after the start and lost ground then raced at the rear of the field for the majority of the event.
 
THE SNUGGLER- Began awkwardly and bumped WALLY’S REVENGE shortly after the start.
 
WALLY’S REVENGE- Bumped at the start by THE SNUGGLER and lost ground then raced at the rear of the field for the majority of the event.
 
LIPSTICK LIES- Was fractious in the barriers after being loaded then began awkwardly. Dislodged the rider at approximately the 600 m point. On returning to scale prior to the declaration of correct weight Appr Jky T Noble and Trainer K O’Neil made application to Stewards for the mare to be declared a non-runner due to being denied a fair start when a barrier attendant continued to restrain the horse as the barriers opened eventually damaging the bridle which resulted in the rider not being able to control the horse from that point and becoming dislodged as the race progressed. After viewing the film and hearing the evidence Stewards considered the application and acting under the provision of AR204 (1) subsequently declared LIPSTICK LIES a non- runner, and ordered that all monies invested on the horse be refunded less the following deductions to apply - Winner RED SHIRAZ- 0c win, 7c place, 2nd place- THE SNUGGLER- 6c and 3rd placing -AMAZING JOURNEY- 10c.
 
RUIHI- Began awkwardly and bumped SUDDEN SUSPECT at the start. Prior to the 600m rolled out marginally and brushed LATTE PARTAE.
 
SHOTGUN SIXTYFOUR- Raced at the rear of the field for some distance began to improve into the race from the 200m, laid out under pressure for a short distance before being corrected by the rider and ran on strongly over the final stages of the event.
 
LATTE PARTAE- Raced wide for the majority. Approaching the 600m was brushed by another runner which tended to roll out for a short distance. Began to become unstable in its action prior to the 300m point and shortly after entering the home straight the rider dismounted, and the filly collapsed. A Veterinary examination was undertaken, this examination confirmed the horse was deceased potentially of catastrophic heart failure. Due to this incident the start of Race 3 was amended to 2.45pm.
 
Race 3: MAXUM FOODS CLASS B HANDICAP 1200M
 
TERMITE- Slow to begin and after a short distance failed to go the early speed and raced at the rear of the field for the majority of the event.
 
HUSSONHOFF- Began well but raced at the rear of the field for the majority before improving into the race from the 300m, raced in restricted room at approximately the 100m point when LADY WAIRUA laid in under pressure and ran on strongly over the final stages of the event.
 
GIDGET- After beginning fairly raced at the rear of the field for the majority of the event despite the best efforts for the rider to improve into the race it failed to do so. Stewards ordered a post- race veterinary examination be undertaken for the seemingly disappointing performance of the horse today. No abnormalities were detected. As Trainer Mr. C Geran was not on course, he was later advised that stewards acting under the provision of LR67(1) a fine of $100 would be applied. Mr. Geran later advised stewards that the mare had pulled up well after the race and wasn’t suited to the hard racing surface at the meeting. Stewards noted his comments.
 
LADY WAIRUA- Bumped VALONIA shortly after the start. Laid in when under pressure at the 100m point before being corrected by the rider resulting in HUSSONHOFF being held up at that point.
 
DOUBLE COCO- Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
MORABY GIRL- Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
VALONIA- Trainer D Baker advised Stewards his horse had bumped its head in the tie up stall prior the running of Race 3. Stewards ordered that a Veterinary examination be undertaken this examination revealed a small abrasion located above the left eye with minimal oozing. The horse was subsequently passed fit to start. Bumped by another runner at the start.
 
EMIRATE PRIDE- Raced wide from the 500m for the remainder of the event.
 
BOBBYBOUCHE- Slow to begin and dropped back from the 600m and raced at the rear of the field for the majority.
 
Race 4: ELDERS WARRA CUP BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1100M
 
HARRYANDTHETIGER- Leaving the 100m raced up on the heels of LITERMOUNT.
 
GAZZMAN- Began awkward then raced at the rear of the field during the early stages. Began to improve into the race from the 800m while racing wide and then raced wider for the remainder of the event.
 
TOURMASTER- Bumped with another runner shortly after beginning. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
DREAMSEEKER-Began awkwardly and was inconvenienced momentarily when TAKEMEOUTBACK rolled in marginally. Raced at the rear of the field for some distance and ran on strongly over the final stages.
 
TAKEMEOUTBACK- Began awkwardly, then when approaching the 1000m laid in for a short distance before being corrected by the rider hampering DREAMSEEKER momentarily. Raced wide for the majority.
 
LITERMONT- Began awkwardly and bumped with TOURMASTER shortly after the start. Tended to lay in during the early stages of the event.
 
GHETTO- Fractious in the barriers, after beginning okay raced at the rear of the field for the majority of the event.
 
Race 5: BLACK TRUCK & AG BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1400M
 
ARTHUR IN CHARGE- Bumped by CRAIGLEA BANDIT as the start was affected.
 
CRAIGLEA BANDIT- Began awkwardly and bumped ARTHUR IN CHARGE at the start. At approximately the 1350m point when the rider tried to urge his mount to improve into the race the gelding began to buck for a short distance dislodging the rider then jumped the inside running rail and completing the journey on the inside of the track riderless. After some time post-race was eventually caught after it attempted to jump the inside rail of the track again. This resulting in the running rail being damaged and dislodged from its footings. A post-race veterinary examination was undertaken this examination revealed skin lacerations and abrasions above the right eye and on all four limbs with some lameness apparent. Stewards later contacted Trainer Ms. K Johnston who was not present on race day and advised her that the horse would require a Vet Certificate and obtain a Barrier Pass prior to its next start. Ms. Johnston advised Stewards that the gelding may be retired. Jky P Hamblin later sought attention from the QAS and was passed fit to continue riding in coming days. Jky Hamblin gave Stewards an undertaking that should his condition deteriorate over coming days that he would notify the Chairman of Stewards.
 
AVOCA- Bumped with LASCO shortly after the start. Began to weaken after entering the home straight. On returning to the mounting yard Trainer A Park advised Stewards that her gelding had bled from both nostrils. A post-race veterinary examination was undertaken confirming a bilateral bled and acting under the provision of AR 79 a mandatory 3 month ban from racing was imposed by Stewards.
 
BARRYMORE- Began awkwardly.
 
LASCO- Dislodged the rider in the barriers when fractious. Began awkwardly and bumped another runner shortly after the start. After being dislodged Appr Jky D Bennett advised he was fit to ride. Began awkwardly ran on well over the final stages of the event. Stewards requested QAS to examine Appr D Bennett and was passed fit to continue to ride in coming days. Appr Bennett gave an undertaking that should he have any adverse effects following today’s meeting he would seek medical attention.
 
PERSIAN FRONT- Began awkwardly jumping out at the start and raced at the rear of the field for the majority of the event. Post race Appr Jky T Noble complained of soreness in her right shoulder and sought examination from the QAS. Advise and treatment was provided to her by QAS Ms. Noble was advised to contact her doctor and treatment was provided to her. Ms. Noble was advised that a medical certificate would be required prior to returning to race riding.
 
NOW OR NEVER- Broke through the barriers and after going only a short distance before being pulled up by the rider underwent a Veterinary examination and was subsequently passed fit to race. Began awkwardly and dipped in its action shortly after the start. Raced wide for the majority of the event. Tended to roll in marginally before being corrected by the rider in the back straight at approximately the 600m point.
