QUEENSLAND RACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORTWARWICK TURF CLUB – SATURDAY, 18TH FEBRUARY 2017 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – GOOD 3 RAIL – TRUEOFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – L. Reardon Race 1: KERRY SCANLAN CONCRETING/HANSON MAIDEN PLATE 2-Y-O & Up. Set Weights 800m PETE’S BELLE – Became fractious in the stall prior the event. The mare was declared a late scratching at 1:05 pm on veterinary advice. Following the event, stewards ordered that all monies invested on PETE’S BELLE be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers: 0 cents in the dollar for the win #1 5cents in the dollar for place of winner #1 7cents in the dollar for 2nd place #8 5 cents in the dollar for 3rd place #10TRACTION– A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly bled in one nostril. Trainer J. Thomas was advised that the filly would have to pass a 1000m gallop in front of stewards before returning to race. COALBANK CAVIAR – Hung out over the concluding stages. BLAZING BELLE – On returning to scale, Jockey Tomizawa reported that upon jumping his mount was struck on the off side when the barrier suction cap malfunctioned and the gate subsequently shifted back. JARELS’S DRAGON – Raced wide throughout the middle stages and rounding the home turn. JET LIONER – Shifted out abruptly approaching the 150m. FAZZICALY SIDEREUS – Began awkwardly, shifted out abruptly shortly after jumping. Race 2: MCNALLY CONSTRUCTIONS BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 1100m ROGER THAT – When questioned regarding the improved performance, Trainer R. Bremser reported that in his opinion the change to a stronger rider was the cause for the gelding’s improvement. Mr Bremser was also advised that a warning would be placed in the horse regarding its barrier manners. STORM ANCHOR – Eased from heels at the 800m. PRESSWAY – Became restless pre-race. Trainer L. Brynt was advised that a warning would be placed on the horse regarding its pre-race manners. Race 3: R & F STEEL BUILDINGS MAIDEN PLATE 2-Y-O & Up. Set Weights 1200mFRONT FOOT – Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages. LIGHT OF DE WORLD – Hung out rounding the home turn. Shifted in at the 200m tightening a runner to the inside. Jockey B. Appo was subsequently reprimanded for careless riding under AR.137(a). VOLTAIC – Raced wide rounding the home turn. JUST A SEC - Slow to begin. Forced to ease from heels at the 800m.FREEZEN EASY – Difficult to load. Began awkwardly shifting in. Trainer D. Murphy was advised that a warning would be placed on the horse regarding its barrier manners. DUKE OF KINGSFORD – Shifted out and lost ground shortly after the start. Raced greenly throughout the early stages. Race 4: MAGIC MILLIONS MARCH YEARLING SALE BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP 1500mPEGGY LEIGH – When questioned regarding the poor performance of the filly, Jockey N. Evans advised that the he felt the horse travelled well in the early stages but proved disappointing in the run home. SO CHOOSY – Dislodged its rider on the way to the barriers.LUCKY THREE SEVENS - Jumped in the air at the start subsequently losing ground. Race 5: RAHEEN STUD/THE MALT HOUSE BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1350m MAJOR SCOOP – Slow to begin. WIG WAM BAM – Shifted out under pressure over the concluding stages. REDDAMOUR – Hung out in the early stages. HEZA CHUMLEY – Over raced throughout. When questioned regarding the poor performance of the runner, Jockey S. Apthorpe advised that the gelding did not settle throughout the run proving disappointing in the home straight. He also stated that he felt that the gelding may have not run out the 1350m of today event. Race 6: BROWNLIE CONCRETORS OPEN HANDICAP 1100m DON’TCRYARGENTINA – Stewards inquired into a matter brought to their attention by Jockey T. Banks who was claiming compensation for his loss of engagement on DON’TCRYAGENTINA, stating that he was engaged to ride the horse prior to jockey declaration. When questioned regarding the matter, Trainer B. Azel stated that he did officially engage Jockey Banks prior to jockey engagements, however shortly after engaging Jockey Banks he elected to engage another rider for the horse. After taking into consideration the statements of both parties, stewards made a judgment in favour of Jockey Banks, in that he was entitled to a full riding fee and percentage of any prizemoney that is earned from the event.
