After viewing the Stewards patrol footage, A. Badger, the rider of ALFIE JUNIOR, placed 4th by the Judge, lodged an objection against the 2nd placegetter, THEREES NEMO (B. Appo), alleging interference from the 100m.. After taking evidence from all parties and viewing the patrol footage, Stewards found that whilst THEREES NEMO did shift out over the concluding stages causing ALFIE JUNIOR to steady from heels, Stewards were not of the view that the degree of interference suffered warranted a reversal of the placings, particularly given the proximity of the incident to the finish line.. Stewards therefore dismissed the objection and declared correct weight on the Judgees placings. Nevertheless, Beau Appo was advised to exercise more care in similar circumstances in the future.

FINE EYES Stewards questioned jockey R. Williams in relation to her riding of the mare between the 200m and 100m.. Jockey Williams advised that her mount had a tendency to lay out during the event, and for that reason she was using the whip in her left hand.. She added that near the 150m, MARANETTA, which was racing forward of her mount, shifted out marginally forcing her to shift out away from that runnerrs heels, and in doing so her mount shifted further than anticipated, resulting in the mare being momentarily held up at the heels of COMMAND TROOP..
