Apprentice S. Tomlinson was fined $200 for failed to claim his full allowance in race 3 and 4.
 
Race 1: BILL & MARGARET HOIBERG MEMORIAL MAIDEN PLATE - 1100M
 
On return to scale, the connections of the third placegetter, NIQUILITY lodged an objection against RIMMSKI being declared second placegetter, alleging interference approaching the 100m. After taking evidence from all parties and viewing the patrol footage, Stewards were satisfied that the shift outwards by RIMMSKI at the time was insufficiently clear of  NICQUILTY resulting in NIQUILITY to alter course to secure clear running and in their opinion exceeded the nose margin. Therefore stewards upheld the objection. Placing’s were amended accordingly.
 
HARRY’S ME BOY – Bumped at the start.
 
BURNING ENIGMA – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout.
 
RIMMSKI -  Raced wide early and middle stages.
 
GOODBYE BEVERLEY – Slow to begin. Performed uncompetitively. Trainer M. Hemming’s wasadvised that a warning would be placed on the filly.
 
GREYT INTENTIONS – Began awkwardly. Laid in, in the home straight.
 
ANGELS LOVE – Raced wide without cover throughout.
 
 
Race 2: GROVE JUICE SQUEEZE BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP (1)– 1100M
 
Race 2 was delayed to allow completion of protest lodged in Race 1
 
TRUE JOY – Trainer P. Webster could offer no explanation  in regards to the performance of the mare and would report to stewards in coming days if anything became apparent.
 
COLPO DI TAMBURO – Began awkwardly.
 
SEA PRAISE – Began awkwardly. Approaching the 1000m had to be steadied from heels when CHAMPAGNE WARRIOR shifted in. Jockey Nathan Evans pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding  under AR137(a) for permitting his mount to shift in at that point when not sufficiently clear. Jockey Evans licence was suspended to ride in races for 8 days, to commence at midnight on Saturday 12 May and expire at midnight on Sunday 20 May 2018. In determining penalty, stewards were mindful of Jockey Evan’s guilty plea and his previous good riding record. Approaching the 800m raced in restricted room and had to steady.  Raced wide throughout.
 
MAN OVERBOARD – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. Shifted in under pressure over the concluding stages.
 
OMISSION – Tightened for room over the concluding stages and had to be steadied from heels when MAN OVERBOARD shifted in. Apprentice M. Shimodaira was advised to exercise more care.
 
MEGGSIE – Began awkwardly, losing ground.
 
DESTINY’S DESIRE –  Slow to begin. Performed uncompetitively Trainer S. Mceawan was advised  that a warning would be placed on the gelding.
 
Race 3: CARR FARMING BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP (2)– 1100M
 
ARLIS – Began awkwardly.
 
KAPACHINO MISS – Tightened for room at the start.  Approaching the 800m shifted out abruptly making contact with SHADWELL FLYER. Lost near hind plate in running.
 
SHADWELL FLYER – Bumped near the 800m.
 
RIDGES PRIDE – Began awkwardly.
 
SPECTACULAR ROCK – Tightened for room at the start.
 
SHE’S WILD – Began awkwardly. Approaching the 800m raced in restricted room and had to be steadied  when  KWANA KING shifted in slightly . Apprentice Rooney was advised to exercise more care.
 
KAWANA KING – Raced 3 wide throughout.
 
CHEVYS DESIRE -  Began awkwardly.
 
RICH TRADITION – When questioned regarding the improved performance Trainer M. Callaghan explained that in his opinion the addition of blinkers and starting from barrier one suited the gelding for today’s event. Stewards noted the explanation.
 
SHADOW SHOW – Began awkwardly. Approaching the 800m raced keen on heels, shifted out abruptly and raced wide from that point onwards. Jockey C. Eaton explained that in her opinion the gelding locked its jaw near 800m and proved difficult to ride for the remainder.
 
Race 4: ERGON ENERGY BATTLE OF THE BUSH QUALIFIER - OPEN HANDICAP- 1100M
 
EXTRA SHOT – Bumped at the start. Raced wide throughout.  Post race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.
 
MUSIC SCENE – Raced wide throughout.
 
 
BAKER BOY – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout.
 
SNUGGLE POT – When questioned regarding the performance Jockey Mrs B. Andrew explained that in her opinion the gelding  is better suited when ridden in the lead or in a position without cover as the gelding tends to not race well when around other horses. Trainer Mr B. Andrew was of the same opinion. He added that that he was disappointed with today’s performance and would report to stewards in coming days if anything became apparent.
 
Race 5: WARWICK AUTOMOTIVE BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP - 1500M
 
WIG WAM BAM – had to be steadied on a number of occasions between the 700m and 600m when SUNSHINY GIRL commenced to weaken.
 
SUNSHINY GIRL – Commenced to weaken leaving the 700m. The veterinary surgeon reported post-race that the gelding had bled from both nostrils. Trainer J. Amory was advised that the horse would be ineligible to race for 3 months and that prior to its next start must gallop satisfactorily over 1000m in the presence of a steward.
 
ROCKY HALO – Slow to begin.
 
HAY LIFE – Kicked behind the barriers subsequently underwent pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start.  Overraced in the early stages.
 
TORONTO FLYER – Raced wide throughout.
 
ARCTIC CIRCLE – Began awkwardly.
 
ROYAL VANQUISHER – Raced wide throughout.
 
Race 6: SOUTHERN DOWNS AG BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP– 1350M
 
MR BOXVALE – Began awkwardly.  Approaching the 900m raced in restricted room, was steadied and became awkward in  its action. Near the 800m had to be steadied from heels. Near the 600m had to be steadied from heels. Held up from entering the home turn shifted out to obtain clear running and was then forced wider by another runner entering the home straight. Apprentice S. Tomlinson accidently dropped his whip near the 100m whip.
 
COCKTAIL THONG - Made the home turn wide.
 
ROBERT’S COMMAND  - Forced wider by another runner entering the home straight.
 
SHEZ OUR DESTINY – Began awkwardly.
 
HENRY’S ON COURSE – Began awkwardly, losing ground.
