GENERAL
 
As App M Castle, W Peel and Jockey J Murphy were not riding at todays meeting rider changes were made as per race-day summary. Additionally, App W Peel was advised she would require a medical clearance prior to again being permitted to ride in a race.
 
 
The race start times were amended as follows:

Stewards permitted the following overweights:
 
Race 4- J Stanley +0.5kg

Race 1: SOUTHERN DOWNS REGIONAL COUNCIL MAIDEN PLATE 800m
 
Declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow Stewards to view footage of the start. After viewing the official patrol footage it was determined all runners were afforded a fair start and correct weight was declared on the Judges numbers.
 
JAZZY AWARD- Due to a clerical and administrative error the mare may not have been displayed as wearing blinkers, this is incorrect and the mare was to race in blinkers. This was advertised by way of oncourse announcement and social media address.
 
JET SPINNER- Due to a clerical and administrative was displayed as wearing earmuffs during the event, this was incorrect and the filly was to wear pre-race earmuffs only. Due to a communication error Jockey G Geran was initially declared as rider of the filly however, Jockey S Lacy was a late alteration. Trainer P Webster was fined the sum of $100 under the provisions of LR67. This was advertised by way of on course announcement and social media address. Began awkwardly and became awkwardly placed on heels soon after.  
 
 
WICKED’N’ LOVIN’IT- Fractious in the mounting yard. Trainer T Bowman was advised a warning would be placed on the mares pre-race manners. Inclined to race greenly down the running and bumped with OUR MAGNUS approaching the 200m.
 
MISTER QUICKSTEP- Refused to exit the barrier and took no part in the race. Trainer J Brown was advised the gelding would be required to obtain two further consecutive barrier certificates prior to again being permitted to start in a race.
 
SHOELACE SOUP- Bumped on jumping. Laid out passing the winning post, despite the efforts of its rider, momentarily hampering WINTERSTEIN.
 
WINTERSTEIN- Began awkwardly and bumped. Momentarily hampered by another runner which laid out passing the winning post.
 
OUR MAGNUS- Began awkwardly and bumped. Bumped with WICKED’N’ LOVIN’IT approaching the 200m.
 
MISS DU PRE- Began awkwardly. Finished tailed off. Trainer J Munce was advised a warning would be placed on the mares competitiveness.
 
BONA DEA- Raced wide for the majority.
 
 
 
 
Race 2: GMS AG SPREADING QTIS 3yo MAIDEN HANDICAP 1100m
 
JACK BE LUCKY- Knuckled on jumping.
 
DON’T DISS AROUND- Dwelt in the barrier and was slow into stride. Over-race on heels leaving the 600m before shifting wider and continuing to race keenly. Inclined to lay out down the running proving difficult to ride out. Trainer J Hanna was advised a warning would be placed on the geldings racing manners as a result.
 
SINGLE MALT- Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped.
 
MOFEED WARRIOR- Began awkwardly and bumped.
 
PICCOLO NIKKI- Bumped on jumping.
 
FIERY EXCHANGE- Bumped on jumping.
 
STREET CAUSE- Raced wide from the 500m.
 
HOLLYWOOD SCANDAL- Raced wide for the majority.
 
 
 
 
Race 3: HAPPY 60th BIRTHDAY DAVE HYNES QTIS 3yo MAIDEN HANDICAP 1100m
 
UNCLE BUD- Reluctant to load. Began awkwardly before blundering, shifting in and bumping heavily with BOLD RANSOM. Raced wide from the 600m.
 
BOLD RANSOM- Bumped heavily on jumping and became awkwardly placed on heels having to be steadied as a result.
 
GOLD PEGASUS- Slow to begin. Finished tailed off. Trainer P Bobic was advised a warning would be placed on the geldings competitiveness.
 
HIMSELF- Bumped on jumping.
 
MORE MAX- Began awkwardly. Momentarily keen on heels approaching the 900m. Improved onto heels having to be restrained passing the 600m. Inclined to shift ground under pressure down the running.
 
KEFA- Began awkwardly and bumped. Bumped with NO GOING BACK passing the 100m.
 
NO GOING BACK- Inclined to lay out under pressure down the running, bumping with KEFA passing the 100m.
 
REAL DRAMA- Inclined to lay out passing the 800m. Raced wide for the majority.
 
 
Declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow connections of 2nd place getter KEFA (K Yoshida) to view the patrol footage to ascertain whether grounds for an objection existed against 1st place getter NO GOING BACK (J Molloy) for interference in the home straight. After viewing the official patrol footage connections elected not to proceed with any objection and correct weight was declared on the Judges semaphored numbers.
 
 
 
Race 4: THE JUICE BAR CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1200m
 
LAURIE- Shifted out and bumped on jumping.
 
DRAGON PINS- Bumped on jumping and became awkward on heels having to be eased soon after. Over-race on heels from the 1000-800m.
 
COMFORTABLY NUMB- Trainer T Dougall was reprimanded under the provisions of AR227(a) for failing to comply with the rider over-weight directive. Bumped on jumping. Shifted in passing the 900m inconveniencing ALBANJO. Jockey N Fazackerley was severely reprimanded and advised to exercise greater care when shifting ground. Jockey N Fazackerley was fined the sum of $300 under the provisions of AR211(1) for weighing-in in excess of the permitted amount.
 
ALBANJO- bumped on jumping. Restrained off heels passing the 900m.
 
SIR PICCOLO- Over-raced on heels passing the 1000m before shifting out approaching the 900m.
 
TITRATION- Blundered soon after the start was effected. Inclined to lay in under pressure down the running.
 
KUZCO LAD- Stewards questioned stable representative Mr B Currie as to the seemingly improved performance of the gelding. Mr Currie advised that since arriving at his stable the gelding had been working well and freshened up for todays event. Mr Currie also noted that the gelding had previously shown a disposition for races over similar distances. Stewards noted the explanation.
 
 
 
Race 5: BENZ AUTO DISMANTLERS COLTS, GELDINGS and ENTIRES CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1350m
 
FIORENTE STAR- Was declared a late scratching on veterinary advice at 7:45am. Trainer B Lockwood was advised the gelding would require a veterinary certificate of fitness prior to again being permitted to start in a race.
 
ROACCI- Due to a clerical and administrative error the gelding may not have been displayed as wearing blinkers, this is incorrect and the gelding was to race in blinkers. This was advertised by way of oncourse announcement and social media address. Began awkwardly. Performed below market expectations. App J Molloy stated that, in his opinion, the gelding may be better suited to races over further distances. App Molloy added that when attempting to improve into a run between runners in the home straight his mount was reluctant to do so but finished off fairly after shifting wider into clear running. Trainer L Hatch concurred with App Molloys assessment adding that he believes todays surface may have been somewhat firmer than the gelding ideal going. Stewards noted the explanations.
 
TWILIGHT BOOM- Began awkwardly.
 
GENGHIS KHAN- Began awkwardly.
 
PORTAFORTUNA- Began awkwardly.
 
HISGRACE- Inclined to race keenly down the back straight. App E MacPherson was reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii)  in that she did use her whip on 7 occasions, 2 more than permitted, prior to the 100m.
 
CANNY CAT- Improved onto the heels of another runner soon after entering the home straight having to be steadied and shift out.
 
CAMARILLO- Inclined to shift ground under pressure down the running.
 
THE CROW MAN- Raced wide for the majority.
 
 
 
Race 6: WARWICK SAND & GRAVEL FILLIES & MARES CLASS 1 HANICAP 1350m
 
Declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow Stewards to view the patrol footage of the start to ascertain whether all runners were afforded a fair start. After viewing the official footage Stewards were satisfied that all runners were afforded a fair start and correct weight was declared on the Judges numbers.
 
BLAVATSKY- Due to a clerical and administrative error the mare may not have been displayed as wearing the near-side blinker, this is incorrect and the mare was to race in with the near-side blinker. This was advertised by way of oncourse announcement and social media address. Raced keenly on heels approaching the 900m.
 
SHEINDLIN- Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start.
 
MISS PIXIE- Fractious in the mounting yard. Co-Trainer D Lane was advised a warning would be placed on the mares pre-race manners as a result. Raced keenly on heels at times throughout the back straight.
 
CITRUS BURST- Delayed the start when difficult to load. Stood flat footed and lost considerable ground. Trainer B Smith was advised the mare would be required to officially trial prior to again being permitted to start in a race.
 
FEAR THE NIGHT- Stood flat footed and lost ground. Trainer T Button was advised the filly would be required to obtain a further barrier certificate prior to again being permitted to start in a race.
 
DISCO BEATZ- Raced keenly on heels at times throughout the back straight before shifting out near the 1000m.
 
IDLING BY- Momentarily hampered by another runner which shifted out whilst racing keenly near the 1000m.
 
NO CHOICES- Raced wide passing the 600m.
 
VERY SOON- Obliged to ease and shift out passing the 100m. Raced wide for the majority.
 
LEMON LOVER- Shifted out under pressure passing the 100m hampering VERY SOON. App J Cornish was reprimanded and advised to exercise greater care as a result of this incident.
 
LOUVRE LIL- Raced wide for the majority.
 
 
 
Race 7: THE DAIRY LOUNGE CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1100m
 
ESPANYOL- Slow to begin. Checked approaching the 900m.
 
DUNKIRK- Began awkwardly and became awkwardly placed on heels soon after having to be eased.
 
BEST SONG- Bumped on jumping.
 
SIR BULLEE- Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped another runner becoming awkwardly placed on heels soon after. Raced wide for the majority.
 
MANDALAY BLONDE- Began awkwardly, shifted out and bumped.
 
WIDE LOAD- Bumped on jumping. Obliged to ease approaching the 900m.
 
RODIAN BULL- Proved difficult to load. Trainer P Richardson was advised a warning would be placed on the fillies barrier manners. Shifted in passing the 900m when not fully clear causing WIDE LOAD to be eased. App S Champkin will be reprimanded as a result of this incident. Stewards adjourned an inquiry into App Champkins riding of the filly over the concluding stages.
 
MAHA MUSTANG- Jockey T Banks advised that, in his opinion, his mount would be better suited to events over further distances.
 
GEOTIME- Raced wide for the majority.
 
NORTHERN EXPRESS- App J Lloyd was found guilty of a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR131(a) in that he did permit his mount to shift in approaching the 900m when insufficiently clear of DARCIE GIRL (App M Savva), dictating the line of that runner in onto the running of ESPANYOL (App I Teh) causing that runner to be checked and lose its rightful running. App Lloyds license to ride in races was suspended for a period of 8 days to commence upon the conclusion of an additional suspension on the 18th May 2022 up to and including the 25th May 2022. In determining penalty Stewards considered the incident to be in the low range in terms of both carelessness and severity. App Lloyd was advised of his right to an internal review.
 
 
 
 
Race 8: WARWICK SANDSTONE BENCHMARK 62 HANDICAP 1500m
 
MISTA BUSY- Stewards accepted the reasons tendered by Trainer L Wanless for the late scratching of the gelding.
 
PURE PURGATORY- After being fractious in the mounting yard and refusing to proceed to the barrier was declared a late scratching at 4:36pm. All monies invested on the mare were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions applicable to all successful wagers placed prior to 4:36pm:
 
9cents in the dollar for the win
9cents in the dollar for the place on the winner
9cents for 2nd place
9cents for 3rd place
 
Co-Trainer C Geran was advised the mare would be required to trial prior to again being permitted to start in a race.
 
BEACH CLUB- Inclined to race keenly down the back straight.
 
SCILAGO- Raced keenly passing the 1000m.
 
VLADKING- Raced wide from the 600m.
 
KELLERS SHELTER- Raced wide for the majority. App O Webb was fined the sum of $300 under the provisions of AR211(1) for weighing-in in excess of the permitted amount.
 
GOTTA BE FIRST- Raced wide for the majority.
 
OCTOBER JOY- Raced wide for the majority.
 
MILITARY KINGS- Jockey G Geran was reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he did use his whip on 6 occasions, 1 more than permitted, prior to the 100m.
 
CARLIN TREND- App A Jones was reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that she did use her whip on 6 occasions, 1 more than permitted, prior to the 100m.
