GENERAL
 
Stewards permitted the following weight variations at today’s meeting:
Race 4: EXPENSIVE TO KEEP – Michael Murphy 55kgs (+1kg)
 
As apprentice Jake Molloy was not riding at the meeting for personal reasons, Stewards permitted riding changes as per the Race Day summary sheet.
 
NICE WATER and TEQUILA NIGHTS were declared late scratchings at 1:28pm due to transport issues. BETTER SPRINGS was declared late scratching at 2:09pm due to transport issues.
 
Following a routine check of the jockey rooms during the course of the meeting, Stewards acting under AR22(d), took possession of mobile phones belonging to apprentices Jayden Lloyd, Cody Collis and stable hand Sebastian Galea. Stewards subsequently adjourned an inquiry into this matter to a time and date to be fixed.
 
 
Race 1: TAB Maiden Handicap 800 metres
 
DON'TKICKAMOOCOW – Began awkwardly. Unable to muster speed in the early stages.
 
XTRAVAGANT PARTY – Raced greenly when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
DRUMS ON FIRE – Slow to begin.
 
KINGDOM REIGN – Began awkwardly shifted in and bumped XTRAVAGANT PARTY. Taken wider rounding the home turn. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
ELLE OF A BELLE – Raced greenly when placed under pressure in the home straight.
 
KUROBUTA – Began awkwardly. Bumped with SPOOKY SPECTRE near the 50m. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
SPOOKY SPECTRE – Bumped with KUROBUTA near the 50m.
 
MISSY'S READY – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
SUPER GYPSY – Slow to begin.
 
TWOSEY – Began awkwardly and lost ground. Rounding the home turn shifted out to improve taking KINGDOM REIGN wider on the track. Raced wide with cover for the majority of the event.
 
 
Race 2: TAB VENUE MODE QTIS Three-Year-Old BENCHMARK 62 Handicap 800 metres
 
AL PAL'S GAL – Jumped in at the start.
 
BAG OF WHITT – Bumped at the start between FLANK SPEED which jumped out and AL’S PAL GAL which jumped in. Leaving the 200m had to be steadied and obliged to shift back to inside when BREAKWATER BOY shifted out under pressure.
 
BREAKWATER BOY – Near the 600m raced ungenerously for a short distance when crowded between runners. Shifted out under pressure in the home straight.
 
FLYING RUPERT – Bumped heavily at the start.
 
ARTIE PANTZ – After becoming fractious when being transported to the track, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination, and was cleared to start. Shifted in abruptly at the start and bumped heavily with FLYING RUPERT. Apprentice B Wheeler was reminded of his obligations under AR131(b) to ride his mounts out fully to the end of the race.  When asked to comment on the performance rider B Wheeler advised the horse travelled comfortably until the home turn, however when placed under pressure in the home straight ARTIE PANTZ was disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
 
FLANK SPEED – Jumped out at the start.
 
CHAMPAGNE TORQUE – Raced wide throughout the event.
 
 
Race 3: TAB Maiden Plate 1200 metres
 
BELPHEGOR – Jumped in at the start. Raced greenly when placed under pressure in the home straight and near the 200m, when being corrected, shifted out and bumped MARLEEDOONE on the hindquarters which became unbalanced.
 
BOOM THE GREAT – Jumped out at the start.
 
JOKIC – Checked at the start between BOOM THE GREAT which jumped out and BELPHEGOR which jumped in.
 
DIS IS DUKE – Near the 1000m improved onto heels and had to be restrained. Inclined to layout throughout the event.
 
GOLDEN GROOVE – Bumped at the start.
 
MARLEEDOONE – Near the 200m bumped on the hindquarters and became unbalanced.
 
SEA SHELL FLY – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
FREEMAN FURY – Bumped at the start.
 
INSTANT RESPONSE – Jumped in at the start and bumped FREEMAN FURY.
 
QUEEN OF ADELAIDE – Jumped out at the start and bumped GOLDEN GROOVE. Held up for clear running rounding the home turn. Near the 200m disappointed for a run between FREEMAN FURY and BELPHEGOR. DIS IS DUKE, which was following, was obliged to steady from the heels of QUEEN OF ADELAIDE as a consequence.
 
 
 
Race 4: TAB VENUE MODE Class 3 Handicap 1200 metres
 
LIGHTFAST – Inclined to lay out in the early and middle stages of the event when racing keenly. Shifted out under pressure in the home straight.
 
ANYWAY YOU WANT IT – Crowded shortly after the start and lost ground.
 
ASCOT EXPRESS – Slow to begin.
 
BY BY MUSIC – Inclined to shiftout under pressure in the home straight.Apprentice S Champkin, rider of BY BY MUSIC, pleaded guilty to a charge under AR131(b) for failing to ride her mount out fully to the end of the race and was fined $300.
 
EXPENSIVE TO KEEP – Over-raced in the early stages.
 
RUN RAMPANT – Jumpedout at the start.
 
SUNNY EKCELS – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
SARODEC – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
 
Race 5: TAB Maiden Plate 1350 metres
 
AGRO AGAIN – Jumped out at the start. Rider J Stanley reported the horse is a one paced type and was not suited by the slow early pace of the race, however was happy with the manner in which AGRO AGAIN finished the race off. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality.  
 
HALLSIDE WILDTHING – After being kicked on the near hind fetlock in the tie up stalls underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was declared a late scratching at 1:32pm on veterinary advice. Trainer S Sixtus was a advised the horse would require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race start.
 
VAIN LUKE – Began awkwardly and lost ground.
 
REDVEDEV – Laid in approaching the 800m and crowded FRIJOLES for a short distance.Raced wide for the majority of the event.

MOVE BEYOND – Raced keenly in the early stages of the event.
 
RUGGED WOMAN – Slow to begin.
 
FRIJOLES – Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
THERMATIC – Crowded on jumping and lost ground.
 
 
Race 6: TAB VENUE MODE RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap 1350 metres
 
Correct weight was delayed allowing Stewards to view the start of the event to confirm that LEXI’S CHOICE was afforded a fair start. After doing so correct weight was declared on the semaphored placings. Trainer V Heading was advised LEXI’S CHOICE would require a further barrier certificate prior to its next race start.
 
HERECUM DA DRUMS – Shifted out under pressure in the home straight.
 
OUR SPIDER – Slow to begin. L Sykes, rider of OUR SPIDER, was fined $200 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip 8 times prior to the 100m, three more than permitted.
 
TRUE PATRIOT – On arrival at the barriers the saddle on the horse was readjusted. Over-raced in the early and middle stages of the event. Shifted out under pressure in the home straight.
 
LEXI'S CHOICE – Stood flat footed as the start was effected.
 
SIZZLING BABE – Over-raced in the early and middle stages of the event.
 
 
Race 7: TAB RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap 1350 metres
 
HOT PROFIT – Jumped out at the start and bumped ASSERTIN LADY.
 
DRAGON PINS – Rider J Stanley advised it was not his intention to lead however after beginning well and with no speed shown by runners to the outside, he elected to allow the horse to maintain momentum and lead the event.
 
NIRVANA NINJA – Began awkwardly. Bumped RAINS APLENTY near the 600m when shifting out to improve. C Collis, rider of NIRVANA NINJA, was fined $200 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip 7 times prior to the 100m, two more than permitted.
 
ABB ROY – Raced keenly in the early stages of the event.
 
ASSERTIN LADY – Bumped at the start.
 
MISTER WARD – Slow to begin.
 
COFFEE COMING – Began awkwardly. Raced keenly in the early stages of the event.
 
RAINS APLENTY – Bumped passing the 600m when NIRVANA NINJA shifted out to improve. Raced wide for the majority of the event.
 
 
Race 8: TAB VENUE MODE BENCHMARK 60 Handicap 1350 metres
 
MASON'S CHANCE – Raced wide throughout the event.
 
MADAM CHA CHA – Slow muster speed in early stages.
 
DAZZLING FLASH – Over-raced in the early stages. Near the 700m improved onto heels and had to be staedied.
 
MY PINS – Began awkwardly.
 
SURREEL – After being slow to begin was then shifted across heels to obtain a rearward position closer to the rails.
 
ROADHOUSE – Declared a late scratching at 3:17pm on veterinary advice after becoming fractious when being transported to the track and sustaining an injury to its nearside nostril. Trainer O Cairns was advised the horse would require a veterinary certificate prior to its next race start.

IT'S A MISTAKE – Slow to begin.
 
MURRAJONG ROAD – Change of tactics, to be ridden with cover if circumstances permit. Ridden accordingly.
 
DECOR DEELS – Began awkwardly.
 
 
Race 9: TAB BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 2000 metres
 
HEART OF A LION – Slow to begin. Raced wide from the 800m. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
IDLING BY – Bumped with TOKYO BLOSSOM approaching the winning post on the first occasion.
 
TOKYO BLOSSOM – Bumped with IDLING BY approaching the winning post on the first occasion.
 
OCTOBER JOY – Jumped in at the start and bumped ROCK PEARL. A post-race veterinary examination of the horse revealed it to have bled from both nostrils for the first time. Co-trainer C Geran was advised under AR79(4) OCTOBER JOY must gallop 1000m in the presence of a Steward prior to its next race start.
 
EVRYNOW'N'THEN – Bumped at the start. Over-raced in the middle stages.
 
ROCK PEARL – Bumped at the start. Raced keenly in the early stages.
 
KIBBIT RAHEEB – Jumped out at the start and bumped EVYNOW’N’THEN.
