Race 8- CORPSURE CYBER INSURANCE CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1540m
 
ROCK WAR- Jockey W. D’Avila was fined $400 pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using the whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100m, two more than permitted.
 
 
GENERAL
 
Following a Stewards inspection the racing surface was downgraded to a Soft 5 at 10:30am. Stewards then conducted a further inspection following additional showers with the racing surface being downgraded to a Soft 6 at 12:30pm. The course proper crossing was identified as an area of concern, with notable water pooling on the crossing itself. After consultation with the riding group, trainers and Club officials, remedial efforts were undertaken with further inspections of the area being conducted. After continued showers and these remedial efforts proving ineffective further consultation between the Stewards, Club and Racing Queensland officials, trainers and the riding group was carried out. In accordance with the QRIC Race-Meeting Abandonment Protocol, the decision was made to abandon the meeting in the interest of rider and horse safety at 1:30pm.
