SUPPLEMENTARY

Toowoomba 25 November 2023

Race 7- SUBZERO AIRCONDITIONING QTIS 3o MAIDEN HANDICAP 1200m

HIT- Trainer J Phelan advised on 27 November that the filly had pulled up well following the event and been tendered to by the chiropractor who was unable to detect any significant abnormalities. Trainer J Phelan added that the stable had been disappointed with the performance and in light of the fillies recovery would continue with the preparation as planned.


GENERAL

Trainers S Sixtus pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR122(3)(a) in that on 22 November 2023 she did ride trackwork wearing a helmet which was no longer serviceable due to its date of manufacture. Mrs Sixtus was subsequently fined the sum of $300, $200 of which was suspended under the provisions of AR283(5) for a period of 12 months under the proviso that Mrs Sixtus not reoffend under this rule of any similar rule as pertains to any riding gear, horse gear or tack in terms of its serviceability, condition or adherence to any relevant standard. Mrs Sixtus was advised of her right to an appeal.

Trainer N Hemmings pleaded guilty to two charges under the provisions of AR122(1)(b) and AR123(1)(a) in that on 22 November 2023 she did ride trackwork in a helmet which was found to be in an unsatisfactory condition and a safety vest which did not comply with the prescribed standards. Mrs Hemmings was subsequently fined the sum of $100 for the breach of AR122(1)(b) and $300 for the breach of AR123(1)(a), $200 of which was suspended under the provisions of AR283(5) for a period of 12 months under the proviso that Mrs Hemmings not reoffend under this rule of any similar rule as pertains to any riding gear, horse gear or tack in terms of its serviceability, condition or adherence to any relevant standard. Mrs Hemmings was advised of her right to an appeal.


Stewards permitted the following over-weights at todays meeting;

Race 5- Jockey C Taylor +1kg


As Jockeys C Bayliss and M Savva were unable to fulfil their riding engagements due to personal and medical reasons respectively, rider replacements were permitted as per Stewards race day summary. Jockey Savva was advised she would require a medical clearance prior to again being permitted to ride in a race.


Race 1: MARCH OF THE DUNGAREES CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1500m

DAZZLING FLASH- Momentarily awkwardly placed on heels when racing keenly near the 1300m. Raced keenly down the back straight and over-raced for a short distance near the 900m.

MASTERPLAN- Began awkwardly. Laid out near the 1300m.

GRANNY'S REWARD- Began awkwardly. Raced keenly near the 1100m.

WHO'S IN WINNY- Raced keenly passing the 1200m and again passing the 1100m.

PERSIAN FRONT- Began awkwardly.


Race 2: RED POPPY MAIDEN PLATE 1500m

A BIT BAZARRE- Laid in away from another runner leaving the 1200m and raced keenly for some distance thereafter.

OXFORDSHIRE- Finished tailed off. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer L Derecourt advised that, in her opinion, the gelding would derive a significant fitness benefit from the run having resumed from a long spell.

REDVEDEV (NZ)- Laid in under pressure down the running. App S Willis was reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that she did use her whip on 6 occasions, 1 more than permitted, prior to the 100m.

VISCOUNT SYDNEY- Jockey M McDonald was fined the sum of $400 under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he did use his whip on 9 occasions, 3 more than permitted, prior to the 100m.

CAPE CRUSADER- Blundered on jumping. Momentarily held up on entering the home straight before shifting in. Marginally crowded and eased approaching the winning post.

PANDA DRUM- Restrained approaching the 1000m I an effort to obtain cover and a position nearer the inside running rail.

RED VEGAS- Began awkwardly and was slow into stride. Unable to muster the speed to maintain a position within the field and consequently settled in a trailing position.

SIMPLY ROSE- Trainer M Dunn was reprimanded under the provisions of LR67(1) for the late declaration of rider on the mare. Stewards noted Mr Dunn’s good record in relation to the rule and the circumstances surrounding the breach. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start.

JUST A HERO- Momentarily awkwardly placed on heel passing the 700m. Performed below market expectations. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Trainer M Currie stated that the stable were disappointed with the performance and was unable to offer any tangible explanation for the performance. Mr Currie undertook to advise should anything become apparent regarding the fillies condition in the coming days.

LADY PARVATI- Obliged to shift in approaching the 100m to obtain clear running. Harmlessly dislodged Jockey K Zechner on returning to the mounting yard.

SNAKESKIN- Shifted ground under pressure down the running. Raced wide for the majority.


Race 3: REMEMBRANCE DAY QTIS THREE-YEAR-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP 1350m

THE BOI- Began awkwardly and bumped. Shifted in leaving the 300m and tightened BEEN A SECRET. Jockey M McDonald was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) as a result of this incident.

ALLEZBEC- Began awkwardly and bumped.

BEEN A SECRET- Disappointed for a run and tightened for room having to be restrained leaving the 300m, obliged to shift wider leaving the 200m as a result and bumped.

BRING THE CHAOS- Bumped on jumping.

SWITZERLAND SUN- Slow into stride. Raced wide for the majority.

TEQUILA STEALER- Raced keenly when being restrained in the back straight in an effort to obtain cover. Shifted ground under pressure down the running. Bumped leaving the 200m. Raced wide for the majority.

MIDNIGHT IN AUSTIN- Raced keenly when crossed passing the 1100m.

MOS OUT- Marginally crowded leaving the 200m.

ZOU ZOU ZOEIA- Began awkwardly and bumped. Shifted out tightening BEEN A SECRET leaving the 300m. App R Thorburn was reprimanded as a result of this incident. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. App R Thorburn pleaded guilty to a charge pursuant to AR131(b) in that he did fail to ride his mount out to the finish of the race, an action which was determined by Stewards to have had a tangible effect on the placings and cost the filly 3rd place. App Thorburn’s license to ride in races was subsequently suspended for a period of 10 days to commence 3rd December, up to and including 12th December 2023. In determining penalty Stewards noted App Thorburn’s excellent disciplinary record, his status as a 3kg claiming apprentice and his guilty plea to be mitigating factors. App Thorburn was advised of his right to an appeal.

HOPETOUN SUNRISE- Momentarily steadied off heels and shifted in approaching the 200m.

THREDBO- Restrained in the early stages in an effort to obtain cover and a position nearer the inside running rail. Over-raced approaching the 800m.


Race 4: LEST WE FORGET BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 800m

MR BROSE- Began awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority.

STORMTROOPER- Bumped soon after the start and became momentarily unbalanced.

BAG OF WHITT- Taken in and obliged to ease passing the 600m.

CHEVAL DE COURSE- Shifted out and bumped soon after the start. Took charge of its rider passing the passing the 500m and shifted out across heels bumping LIVELY LASS. Laid out rounding the home turn. App S Champkin advised on returning to scale that her mounts head had struck her face on exiting the barriers. App Champkin was examined by QAS officers and a concussion assessment carried out under the QRIC concussion protocol with App Champkin subsequently being stood down as a result. App Champkin was advised she would not incur a 12 day standdown from all riding activities unless a medical clearance citing the results of the initial examination clearing her of concussion was obtained as per the QRIC concussion protocol. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have displaced its near-hind plate in running.

HAYAI UMA- Bumped heavily on jumping. Raced keenly passing the 600m.

STEEL MY THUNDER- Obliged to restrain off heels when crowded passing the 600m.

BEITSOO- Bumped heavily on jumping. Taken in passing the 600m crowding runners to the inside. Awkwardly placed on heels passing the 400m.

SUPER EXCEPTIONAL- Bumped passing the 500m. Raced wide for the majority.

LIVELY LASS- Shifted in passing the 600m crowding runners to the inside. App O Kendall was reprimanded pursuant to AR131(a) as a result of this incident. Bumped and taken wider passing the 500m and bumped a further runner. On returning to scale App Kendall advised she had struck her right elbow on exiting the barriers.


Race 5: ARMISTICE CLASS 3 HANDICAP 1200m

Declaration of correct weight was delayed to allow Jockey D Thornton to view the patrol footage of the home straight to ascertain whether grounds for an objection existed against 1st placegetter FLYING ANNIE. After viewing the official footage Jockey Thornton elected not to proceed with any objection and correct weight was declared on the Judges semaphored numbers.

SUBSTITUTION- began awkwardly. Shifted out under pressure down the running taking FLYING ANNIE wider. Bumped passing the winning post.

GROOVIN' THE MOO- Slow into stride.

FLYING ANNIE- Taken wider by SUBSTITUTION which laid out under pressure down the running. Bumped passing the winning post.

MIDNIGHT GUN- Began awkwardly.

TEMPTRESS KATIE- Momentarily held up on entering the home straight before shifting in to obtain clear running.


Race 6: BATTLE OF AMIENS RATINGS BAND 0 - 58 HANDICAP 1200m

NOTHING SILLY- Bumped on jumping. Shifted out and away from heels passing the 900m.

THIEF BY NIGHT- Became awkwardly placed on heels soon after the start. Shifted out and away from heels leaving the 300m. Laid in under pressure down the running. App C Sutherland was reprimanded under the provisions of AR132(7)(a)(ii) in that he did use his whip on 6 occasions, 1 more than permitted, prior to the 100m.

PHARAONIC- Began awkwardly and was crowded on jumping. Shifted out and away from heels passing the 900m.

TRUE PATRIOT- Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. Bumped on jumping.

OUT BACK BOOM- Raced wide for the majority.

TEQUILA DANCER- Shifted in a bumped on jumping. Shifted in and away from another runner passing the 900m crowding runners to the inside despite the efforts of its rider.

UNIQUE ELLE- Began awkwardly and bumped before shifting in and bumping again. Taken wider by another runner which shifted out away from heels passing the 900m.

GOOD'N'LUCKY- Crowded on jumping. Raced keenly approaching the 600m.

BIE'RES- momentarily held up on entering the home straight before being shifted out around heels to improve passing the 300m.

BIRAGUE- Began awkwardly. Raced wide for the majority. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.

DREAM ENTITY- Bumped on jumping. Inconvenienced passing the 900m. Held up in the early stages of the home straight until a point leaving the 250m.


Race 7: CLUB WARWICK RSL BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 2000m

ELIZANO- Slow into stride. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Jockey P Hamblin stated that whilst the weight impost may have been somewhat telling in the finish, in his opinion, the gelding doesn’t see out a strong 2000m.

SPIRIT'S CHARM- Raced keenly from the 1500m-1300m when being restrained in an effort to obtain cover and a position nearer the inside running rail.

NITROGLYCERINE- Stood flat footed and was slow into stride. Trainer B brown was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding as a result.

FOXY FRAULIEN- Bumped approaching the 800m.

BOULT- Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. Bumped approaching the 800m.

PRITI PIPER- Laid in under pressure down the running.

LOUVRE LIL- When queried regarding the improved performances Trainer G Thwaite stated the mare had been working well leading into the event and with the step up to 2000m at its home track on a rain effected surface the stable had expected a forward showing.

LICENCE TO THRILL- Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to start. Began awkwardly. Raced keenly near the 1300m when the pace slackened. Laid in approaching the 800m.
