ISLA'S DAY – Raced keenly on heels for some distance passing the 700m. When asked to comment on the tactics adopted on the mare, particularly in the home straight, Jockey J. Stanley advised that he was being particularly mindful of runners immediately advanced of him shifting ground, and when his mount was not finishing off the event strongly, he was reluctant to improve between those runners. Jockey Stanley stated further that, in his opinion, if his mount had been afforded clear running at an earlier stage of the home straight, it would have likely have proved more competitive in its finishing efforts.

Hunt was severely reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(b) for failing to ride her mount out fully to the finish. In assessing penalty, Stewards noted Apprentice Hunt’s good record in relation the rule and apprentice status as well as being comfortably satisfied that Apprentice Hunts actions did not have any tangible effect on her mounts chances to finish in the best possible position. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant abnormalities.

Shifted in when not fully clear of FLYING ROTHE near the 900m which was obliged to steady when over-racing. Apprentice T. Wheeler was advised to exercise greater care.
