QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT WARWICK TURF CLUB SATURDAY 12TH OCTOBER 2024 WEATHER – Fine TRACK RATING – SOFT 5, Upgraded to GOOD 4 after the running of Race 1. RAIL – TRUEPENETROMETER – 5.62 OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – T. PrestonStewards – B. Wright, J. Childs, W. Glass, F. Hartford GENERAL Stewards permitted the following overweights.Race 1: Jockey W. O’Connell +½ Kg Race 6: Jockey H. Phillips + ½ KgRace 7: Jockey J. Stanley + 1kg After the running of Race 1 Stewards ordered that the Track be upgraded to a GOOD 4. Race 1: SUB-ZERO AIRCONDITIONING, INSTALLATION & SERVICES MAIDEN PLATE 1350 M HOKITIKA was a late withdrawal at 12.25pm when the gelding refused to load. Prior to the declaration of correct weight, all monies invested on HOKITA were ordered to be refunded with the following deductions to be applied to all successful wagers placed prior to 12:25pm: 19 cents in the dollar for the win16 cents in the dollar for the place11 cents in the dollar for 2nd place19 cents in the dollar for 3rd place Trainer R. Beaton was notified HOKITIKA would be required to trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards prior to racing again. DANNY'S BOY: Raced wide without cover. QUALITY MISS: Laid out under pressure down the home straight. AS EXPECTED: Raced keen during the early stages. JUST WANT YOU BACK: When turning into the home straight, shifted out to obtain a clear run. When questioned, jockey W. O’Connell explained the filly showed no early speed & settled at the rear. He advised that JUST WANT YOU BACK put in a few awkward strides near the 700m, obliging him to balance the filly until straightening, when under pressure, made good ground over the final stages of the event. SECRET CAVIAR: Slow to begin. Held up approaching the home turn. Race 2: GLOBE ACCOUNTING MAIDEN PLATE 1350 M DOWNEY: Raced three-wide without cover early. When TWOPOINTFOUR refused to proceed to the start, Stewards subsequently ordered the late scratching l of the gelding at 12.57pm. Drysdale was notified TWOPOINTFOUR would be required to perform to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a jump out, prior to racing again. DOWNEY: Raced three-wide without cover early. CATCH CRIES (NZ): Slow to begin. CONTRICK: Raced wide round the home turn. MONTAGLIARI: Raced wide round the home turn. PREVARICATE: Raced wide without cover from the 1000m. ROSEFINCH: Began awkwardly. SLIM PICKINGS: Began awkwardly. CABO CASANOVA: Bumped shortly after start. Shifted in under pressure leaving the 100m. DARK RED: Bumped shortly after start. Race 3: GROSS WHOLESALE MEATS CLASS 3 PLATE 800 M FLYING RUPERT: Tightened between runners shortly after the start. Tightened leaving the 600m. Approaching the winning post, was momentarily tightened between ALBION AQUARE and LOADED GUN, which was shifting out. GERETY: Raced wide in the home straight. Laid out in the home straight, KOGA NINJA: Began awkwardly. Jockey H. Phillips reported her saddle slipped back for a short distance after the start. Hampered when approaching the 600m. LOADED GUN: Passing the 600m shifted in inconveniencing runners to his inside. STOP THE ROT: Inconvenienced passing the 600m. MISSY'S READY: Raced wide in the home straight. ELLE OF A BELLE: Passing the 600m, had to be eased when tightened by FLYING RUPERT, which steadied after shifting in and away from LOADED GUN (App J. Molloy), which shifted in at an acute angle, when not quite clear. KOGA NINJA, which was following was hampered and STOP THE ROT inconvenienced. Stewards considered all the evidence before them and comments from all riders involved. Acting under the provision of AR131(a) issued apprentice J Molloy with a reprimand under AR131for careless riding. Race 4: BLACK TOYOTA BM60 HANDICAP 1500 M PRIVATE BANKER: Bumped on jumping. BARCLAY'S BANK: A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding was ordered by Stewards due to it weakening badly in the straight. This examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. SHOWDRA: Approaching the 100m, laid out when under pressure. BRINGME: Raced wide without cover for majority. THE BOI: Began awkwardly. Race 5: WARWICK VET CLINIC CELEBRATING 75 YEARS BENCHMARK 60 HANDICAP 1200 M HEROIC CHIEF: Raced wide without cover. Jockey W. O’Connell was fined $100 under the provision of AR227(a) for negligence in that he failed to attach stirrup irons to his saddle when weighing out for this event. LITTLE SHOW: Began awkwardly. Raced wide down the home straight. NEW YORK GAL: Raced wide early without cover. From the 400m turning into home straight raced wide. Approaching the 200m Laid in under pressure. PITAVAGO: Slow to begin. LUMIERE: When making ground approaching the 150m shifted out into improve in an effort to obtain clear running. CHISUM: Began awkwardly, making contact outside barrier gate. Near the 600m when racing keenly, steadied off heels of REGGAE FIRE. Approaching the 200m momentary inconvenienced when REGGAE FIRE shifted to the inside of LUNAR EIGHT. Race 6: SCOTT ELLIS MEMORIAL / RANBUILD WARWICK NEWMARKET BENCHMARK 70 HANDICAP 1200 M BOWRIDER: Held up approaching 400m.Stewards opened an inquiry into the horses racing pattern between the 400m and the competition of the race. After hearing initial evidence from Jky D Turner, Stewards elected to adjourn the inquiry to consider a number of factors until a date to be fixed. HIRAISHIN: Knuckled shortly after the start was affected. Raced wide without cover. FUN SPONGE: Approaching the 200m shifted in under pressure. HILL BILLY FLYER: Began awkwardly. SIR CARTER: Began awkwardly after making contact with the barrier on jumping. Raced wide without cover. Race 7: WARWICK CREDIT UNION WARWICK CUP OPEN HANDICAP 1500 M REJOICED: Raced keenly outside leader in the early stages. PAGATO: Stewards ordered a post-race veterinary examination be undertaken due to the seemingly disappointing performance of the horse. This examination revealed a condition known as the “Thumps” a poor post-race recovery. No vet certificate was required. Stewards will contact Trainer Mr J Bellamy in coming days regarding the horse’s condition. JUBAI PRIDE: Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination at the barriers and was passed fit to start. MICRO: Stewards allowed Jky W O’Connell to ride the horse overweight after hearing submissions from Trainer Mr D Groves and with no other suitable riders available at the weight. Held up approaching the 400m until straightening. After this event Jky W O’Connell pulled up physically exhausted and distressed. Stewards ordered that he be examined by QAS. Jky W O’Connell was stood down by Stewards acting on medical advice. He was subsequently advised that he would require a medical certificate prior to race riding again. Jockey W. O’Connell was fined $200 by Stewards acting under the provision AR190(3) being overweight. SELLING SUNSET: Slow to begin. WOWIT'S WILLYWONKA: Lost off hind plate in running. SHADYVALE STORM: Raced wide without cover early. SUPER DUCK: Held up prior to the home turn for a short distance before being straighten. I PROMISE YOU: Raced wide without cover early stages. LITTLE VAIN: Began awkwardly. Held up from approaching 400 till near the 300m Race 8: WARWICK HOTEL BM62 HANDICAP 2000 M KNEZE: Race ungenerously during the early and middle stages. CHASING JACKLEY: Utilised whip in consecutive strides near the 200m Jockey D. Peisley was severely reprimanded by Stewards acting under the provision of AR132(7)(a)(1). TRAUTMAN: Carried wide around the home turn and then laid in, in the home straight. RADEGAST (NZ): Began awkwardly with head up in air. App R. Thorburn reported he believed that the gelding felt sore and consequently eased REDEGAST down from the 100m. A post veterinarian examination revealed no significant findings. Stewards will follow up in the coming days. LOUVRE LIL: Slow to begin. SAYS WHO: Raced wide without cover throughout. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
