RACE 1: MAIDEN PLATE 1100 Metres

CHAIN ROAD – raced wide throughout.

SOMERSET DAWN – began awkwardly.

WE WANT PRENUP – blundered at the start and lost ground. When questioned regarding disappointing performance, App A Van Der Sanden stated the mare did not appear comfortable on the sand surface and never travelled at any stage in the run. Trainer A Hayward stated it was his intention to retire WE WANT PRENUP, however was advised if these circumstances were to change the mare would be required to trial satisfactorily prior to its next race start. A post race vet examination failed to reveal any abnormality.

BABES COPYRIGHT – rider K Gates was reminded of her obligation to ride her mounts out fully to the line.





RACE 2: OPEN HDCP 1100 Metres

COVERT CHAMOUR –when questioned regarding below market performance App H Phillips stated the gelding travelled well to the 600 metres but when placed under pressure did not respond to her riding from that point. Trainer M Reardon also expressed his disappointment and was of the opinion COVERT CHAMOUR did not appreciate the sand conditions and added it was his intention to continue with the geldings preparation. A post race vet examination failed to reveal any abnormality.

JAM TIN – raced wide throughout.




RACE 3: QTIS BM 55HDCP 1100 Metres

The start of this event was delayed when after being loaded MIM’S GALLERY broke through the barriers. Subsequently the mare was examined by the club vet and cleared to start

TROPICAL HEATWAVE – returned to enclosure with small amount of blood in mouth as a result of bumping barrier partition just prior to gates being released.

NUG’S POCKET – rider A Badger reported the gelding had a tendency to hang out for majority of the event.

AYBESEE – when questioned regarding below market performance App J Philpot stated the gelding was under pressure from soon after the start, and was unable to hold a forward position despite her efforts. She added AYBESEE never travelled at any stage of the event and was most disappointing. A post race vet examination failed to reveal any abnormality. Stable representative for trainer D Gardiner gave an undertaking to report any condition which may come to light subsequent to todays event.

MIM’S GALLERY – at scale App A Van Der Sanden reported in her opinion the mare is better suited to races over a shorter distance.

SIR STEPHEN – stood flat footed at the start and lost ground (2L). Trainer J Hearne was advised a warning would be placed on the geldings barrier manners.




RACE 4: CLASS B HDCP850 Metres

HOPETOUN STREET – raced wide throughout.

MYSTERY ANGEL – raced wide throughout.



RACE 5: WONDAI CUP BENCHMARK 65 HDCP1465 Metres

The start was delayed when after being loaded, I’M NO RUBY and ESTEVEZ broke through the barriers. Both runners were subsequently examined by the club vet and cleared to start. In this incident J Missen, rider of ESTEVEZ reported at scale that his left foot had made heavy contact with the barrier partition.

I’M NO RUBY – trainer P Kings was fined $100 for failing to declare a rider by the prescribed time. Tightened for room near 1200 metres and had to be steadied.

FASTA THAN LIGHT – rider W O’Connell was reprimanded for permitting his mount to shift in near the 1200 metres when not clear resulting in tightening to runners to his inside.

ESTEVEZ – obliged to steady near 1200 metres when tightened by another runner.

YANCHA BOY – shifted in on its own accord and struck the inside running rail near the 600 metres.

BAY HERO – raced wide throughout.
