QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT SOUTH BURNETT RACE CLUB SATURDAY 15th October 2022 WEATHER – Fine TRACK RATING – Sand RAIL – True OFFICIALS Chairman: K DalyStewards: S CoulthardClub Steward: P RyanClerk of Scales: J GatesJudge: P ChiltonVeterinarian: Dr S KellyStarter: K Dennien GeneralAs there was no rider available at the allotted weight, Stewards permitted Gemma Steele to ride BRING THE ROMANCE in Race 2 at 58.5kg (+2kg). Race 1 – Benchmark 60 Hdcp (1000 Metres) HARD LANDING – Jumped in the air as the start was effected and lost ground. TONY’S DECREE – Began awkwardly. Shifted in under pressure in the home straight. OAKFIELD COMMANCHE – Raced three wide for the majority of the event. GOSSIAUX – Jumped out at the start and bumped OUTASTEP. OUTASTEP – Bumped at the start and lost ground. Race 2 - QTIS Maiden Plate (850 Metres) GORGEOUS KING was declared a late scratching at 2:09pm by order of Stewards when unable to be loaded into the barriers. On declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered all bets on GORGEOUS KING to be refunded in full and deductions of 17 cents win and 15 cents place face value of winning bets prior to 2:09pm to apply. Trainer R King was advised the horse would require a further barrier certificate prior to its next race start. BRICKSTER – As the horse had not started for an extended period, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination, and was cleared to start. Bumped at the start and lost ground. Raced wide for the majority of the event. DAULAT MACHTIGNAGA – Raced wide in the early stages of the event. Laid in under pressure in the home straight. BRING THE ROMANCE – Jumped out at the start and bumped BRICKSTER. RAINBOW DREAMS – Raced wide for the majority of the event. Raced ungenerously when resenting the sand kickback between the 600m and 400m. Race 3 – Class B Handicap (850 Metres) VIZONE was declared a late scratching at 2:47pm on veterinary advice after the horse reared and cast both front legs on the barrier partition. On declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered all bets on VIZONE to be refunded in full and deductions of 22 cents win and 17 cents place face value of winning bets prior to 2:47pm to apply. Trainer K Roon was advised the horse would require a further barrier certificate prior to its next race start. DAULAT ULTI MAIORA – Slow to muster speed in the early stages of the event. TROPICS – Jumped away awkwardly. ALCASO – Raced wide for the majority of the event. LOVE CLASS – Raced wide for the majority of the event. M Cox, rider of LOVE CLASS, was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(i) for use of the whip in consecutive strides prior to the 100m. Race 4 - BENCHMARK 50 Handicap (1577 Metres) HAIRY LOVER – After racing in a forward position in the early and middle stages of the event, weakened noticeably from the 500m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. Trainer P Sexton advised he was of the opinion HAIRY LOVER failed to handle the sand track conditions, adding this was the horse’s first start on a sand surface and that going forward it would be his intention to limit racing HAIRY LOVER on grass tracks only. Acting on this undertaking Stewards took no further action. CLAIRVUE JET – Slow to begin. CRAIGLEA BANDIT – Shifted in at the start crowding both FOXY ROSE and MR MAHARAJ, before shortly after blundering and becoming unbalanced and losing ground. MR MAHARAJ – Crowded on jumping. DINNY’S A SUSPECT – Slow to begin. KILKENNY DAZZLER – Raced wide in the early stages of the event. FOXY ROSE – Crowded on jumping. B Moffat, rider of FOXY ROSE, was fined $200 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on 8 occasions prior to the 100m, 3 more than permitted. TOP MELODY – Raced wide in the early stages of the event. SUDDEN SUSPECT – After being slow to begin and unable to muster speed in the early stages, settled at the rear of the field before finishing some distance behind the main body of the field. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. Trainers’ representative for Mr B Murray advised it was the intention of the stable to give the horse one more start in a race over a longer distance than that of today and then to spell SUDDEN SUSPECT. Acting on this undertaking Stewards took no further action other than to advise connections a warning would be placed on the horse for a poor performance. Race 5 - Open Handicap (1577 Metres) CREDENZA was declared a late scratching at 4:00pm acting on veterinary advice after its off-hind leg became cast on the back barrier partition. On declaration of correct weight Stewards ordered all bets on CREDENZA to be refunded in full and deductions of 31 cents win and 28 cents place face value of winning bets prior to 4:00pm to apply. Trainer G Richardson was advised the horse would require a further barrier certificate prior to its next race start. NOT LIABLE – A short distance after the start laid out hampering both FEND OFF and DAUNTING WARRIOR. Hung out despite the efforts of its rider turning out of the home straight on the first occasion near the 1200m resulting in FEND OFF, which was racing to its outside, being inconvenienced when crowded onto the hindquarters of DAUNTING WARRIOR. DAUNTING WARRIOR – Hampered shortly after the start. FEND OFF – Hampered shortly after the start. Inconvenienced near the 1200m. Apprentice R Wilson, rider of FEND OFF, was fined $200 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on 9 occasions prior to the 100m, 4 more than permitted. BELLICOSE – Raced three wide throughout the event. Adam Spinks, rider of BELLICOSE, had his licence to ride in races suspended for a period of 7 days to commence midnight 22nd October until midnight 29th October under AR132(5) for use of the whip on 17 occasions in totality during the race.
