QUEENSLAND RACING INTEGRITY COMMISSIONSTEWARDS REPORT WONDAI – SOUTH BURNETT RACE CLUBSATURDAY 1st JULY 2023WEATHER – Fine TRACK RATING – Sand RAIL – TrueOFFICIALSChairman of Stewards – R Hanson.Stewards – S Heidke (Steward), S Byatt (Cadet).Clerk of Scales – Stewards.Judge – W SmithVeterinarian – Dr S KellyStarter –P Maloney GENERALJockey C Eaton was unable to ride at today’s meeting due to transport difficulties. Race: 1 PERIES IGA WONDAI CLASS B HANDICAP 1100 Metres LADY WAIRUA – Shifted to the inside passing the 200m to obtain clear running. BOBBYBOUCHE – When asked to comment on the gelding’s performance Jockey M Butler reported that BOBBYBOUCHE travelled well before being crossed approaching the 900m mark and for the remainder of the event resented the kickback from today`s racing surface. RASHEED – Jockey K Gates, rider of RASHEED, was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on six occasions prior to the 100m, one more than permitted. SCRUFF'N'STUFF – Began awkwardly. INVANESS – As Jockey C Eaton was unable to fulfill her ride on INVANESS due to transport difficulties and no other jockey was available to ride in this race, the mare was declared a late scratching at 10.29am. OAKVALE LASS – Raced wide throughout the event. SQUADOM – On retuning to scale Jockey H Richardson reported that the mare felt awkward in its action during the event. A post-race veterinary examination of SQUADOM revealed lameness in the hind legs. Trainer J Williams was advised the mare would require a veterinary clearance prior to its next race start. Race: 2 LEWIS DUFF MEMORIAL OPEN HANDICAP 1100 Metres ANGELS OF FENWAY – Reared as the start was affected and lost ground. Raced wide in the early and middle stages and tailed off in the straight. Trainer B Waldron was advised a warning would be placed on the gelding regarding its poor performance in today’s event. BEEOKAY – Raced three wide throughout the event. Race: 3 KEVIN DUFF MEMORIAL RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 HANDICAP 1000 Metres TAKEMEOUTBACK – Began awkwardly and shifted out shortly after the start. Shifted wide entering the home straight. Apprentice Jockey C Sutherland reported at scale that he was placed at a disadvantage when his saddle slipped back shortly after the start. HOT GLORY – As Jockey C Eaton was unable to fulfill her ride on HOT GLORY due to transport difficulties, Trainer S Noll advised Stewards that a replacement rider had been arranged to ride the gelding, but after becoming fractious whilst being loaded to attend today`s race meeting HOT GLORY escaped his handler and galloped a distance in the paddock. Mr Noll advised Stewards that because of the handler having received an injury and the stress to the gelding he would scratch HOT GLORY from today`s race. HOT GLORY was declared a late scratching at 11.11am. EIL 'N' ALL – Slow to begin. Jockey H Richardson reported that the mare hung out throughout the event. HERO'S TRINKET – Began awkwardly. Raced wide throughout. DANTE ALIGHIERI – Raced wide throughout the event. YES NO MAYBE SO – Slow to begin. Apprentice Jockey S Willis, rider of YES NO MAYBE SO, was reprimanded pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii) for use of the whip on six occasions prior to the 100m, one more than permitted. DANCING TALES – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. Race: 4 STEPHANIE DUFF MEMORIAL QTIS MAIDEN PLATE 2-Y-O & Up. Set Weights. 850 Metres EMPEROR TEIO – Began awkwardly. Hung out under pressure in the home straight. MUSSEL LINES – Shifted in slightly when under pressure a passing the 100m despite the efforts of its rider, Apprentice Jockey S Willis. WINNING DEAL - As Jockey C Eaton was unable to fulfill her ride on WINNING DEAL due to transport difficulties and no other jockey was available to ride in this race, the gelding was declared a late scratching at 11.11am. MISS BONTASTIC – Jumped inwards and bumped METHIL. THE DEVASTATOR – Hung out on the first turn passing the 600m mark. WET FAT CAT – Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Placed in restricted room momentarily passing the 100m when MUSSEL LINES shifted in slightly under pressure. At a subsequent inquiry into the incident Stewards determined that Apprentice Jockey S Willis had made sufficient effort to straighten her mount and reminded her of her obligations concerning the safety of other riders. BLACK SPARROW – Began awkwardly. Raced wide. METHIL – Bumped on jumping. Race: 5 NEAL DUFF MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP 1577 Metres The start of this race was delayed when YOWZA proved difficult to load and COSMIC BULLET reared in the barriers and needed to be inspected by the Veterinarian.YOWZA – Trainer A Briskey was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s barrier manners after YOWZA proved difficult to load and delayed the start of the race. COSMIC BULLET – Reared in the barriers and underwent a pre-race veterinary examination before being cleared to start. Trainer K Sinclair was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s barrier manners. BLAVATSKY – Hung out on the first turn and at various stages of the race. Shifted out over the concluding stages. CASINO CAT – Prior to this race Apprentice C Sutherland was examined by Queensland Ambulance staff on course and was diagnosed as being suffering from dehydration and consequently he was replaced as rider of CASINO CAT by Apprentice R Thorburn. Raced wide in the early stages and middle stages.
