Shifted wider on the track passing the 1000m and raced wide for the remainder of the event. Tailed off over the concluding stages and put in an awkward stride when the gelding shied at a shadow from the winning post.

Race 2: SEILER EARTHMOVING CLASS B HANDICAP 850 Metres

Correct weight for this race was delayed when the third placegetter, Jockey T Brooker requested to view the patrol footage to ascertain whether she had grounds to lodge a protest. After viewing the footage, Jockey Brooker advised that she did not wish to proceed with the protest and Stewards declared correct weight on the judge`s placings.

At a subsequent inquiry into the incident, after taking evidence from Jockey M Powell (THE STORM), Jockey T Brooker (JAIN), Apprentice Jockey S Willis (CASH ARTIST) and Apprentice Jockey O Kendall (BALEXIA), it was established that as a result of THE STORM shifting out marginally and causing JAIN to shift wider and CASH ARTIST shifting in under pressure, BALEXIA was placed in restricted room, bumped JAIN on the hind quarters and was obliged to steady. Taking into consideration the racing manners of both THE STORM and CASH ARTIST, Stewards did not consider this incident to be a result of careless riding and took no further action.
