Race 1: Pacific Hotel Class 3 Plate - 900 metres
1st – ONCE AGAIN MELADY 2nd – BAGGER BONES 3rd – CRYSTALS ‘N’ PEARLS 4th- BEL SHANDY

MACHO CAT (T. Bannon) was slow to begin.

ONCE AGAIN MELADY (D. Evans) began awkwardly, jumped out and hampered OUR FLAIR (J. Stephens).

On the 600 metre turn, BAGGER BONES (C. Pye) laid in for a short distance.

From near the 300 metres to near the 100 metres, CRYSTALS ‘N’ PEARLS laid in when being ridden along and Jockey Usher was required to stop riding and straighten his mount.

Race 2: Ray Slasberg Family QTIS Maiden Plate- 900 metres
1st – DEDEAL 2nd – TUNING 3rd – DOTHRAKI WARRIOR 4th – MIDNIGHT STALKER

Stewards declared PEPPERMINT SAGE a late scratching at 12.38pm acting on veterinary advice that the mare had been injured whilst being transported to the course.

MASTER ROSHI (C. Pye) was fractious and broke through the barriers riderless. After being captured and returned behind the barriers, Stewards declared the gelding a late scratching at 2.25pm on veterinary advice. A warning would be placed against MASTER ROSHI.

Prior to the declaration of correct weight, all bets on MASTER ROSHI were ordered to be refunded, and winning bets to be subject to the following deductions;

7 cents WIN 12 cents Place DEDEAL
11 cents Place TUNING
10 cents Place DOTHRAKI WARRIOR

DANIALSON (E. Heinemann) began awkwardly.

GRAND HOTEL (App K Gates) and DAM FLASH (S. McGovern) were slow to begin.

KING PEM (M Usher) hung out from near the 600m until the 300 metres.

Jockey C. Pye reported some bruising to her left arm, however was satisfied to continue her riding engagements.

Race 3: Ward Operations Open Handicap- 1300 metres
1st – SHOW ME AN ACE 2nd – SPEEDSKATER 3rd – SCHRAPNEL GULLY 4th – KLITSCHKO

ENDLESS TOWER (J. Stephens) pulled hard in the early stages to obtain the lead.

SHOW ME AN ACE (App K Gates) raced three wide throughout

Near the 700 metres, KLITSCHKO (D. Evans) hung in despite the efforts of the rider and caused TY SEEKER (T. Bannon) to be tightened and steadied.

Stewards sought an explanation regarding the performance of SCHRAPNEL GULLY. Jockey C Pye explained that her instructions had been to lead and she had anticipated obtaining this position however the gelding had begun awkwardly when its head was turn in the barrier, and took up a position at the rear of the field. Jockey Pye further stated that she shifted wider from near the 600 metres and placed the horse under pressure at which time SCHRAPNEL GULLY found the line strongly.

Race 4: Yeppoon Panel and Paint Class 4 Handicap- 1200 metres
1st –STAY THE NIGHT 2nd – BLAZING LION 3rd – SOCIETY LASS 4th – GREYWIN

MACEDON (C Pye), which has been a little slow to begin, was further hampered by SOCIETY LASS (D. Evans) which was taken in when TEDIKA (App K Gates) jumped inwards.


Race 5: J&C Legh General Engineering and Fabrication Class b Handicap- 1200 metres
1st –DON’T TELL ALI 2nd – VELONMAARA 3rd – FRENCH GARRISON 4th – HIGHLY CONTAGIOUS

Stewards declared REENA a late scratching at 3.45pm on veterinary advice when it was found to have blood present in one nostril, after striking its head in the float en route to the course. As betting on this event had been suspended pending the outcome of the veterinary inspection, no deductions were applicable.

HAYIL METRO (D. Philpot) was slow to begin.

VENNOM (App K Gates) was tightened between HAZY HUNTER (E. Heinemann) and GOLD ARMANI (C. Pye) which both shifted ground.

HAYIL METRO was further hampered when VENNOM shifted in further.
