QUEENSLAND RACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT YEPPOON TURF CLUB – SATURDAY 2nd NOVEMBER 2019 WEATHER – FINE TRACK RATING – Good 3/ Upgraded to a FIRM 2 prior to race1.RAIL – TRUE ENTIRE OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – J AdamsStewards – T Hudson, M Heath Clerk of Scales – W WelburnJudge – W Welburn, K PitcherVeterinarian – Dr P McCoskerSwab Official – E BurgessStarter – J Wilson SUPPLEMENTARY REPORT – ROCKHAMPTON 25th October 2019 Trainer G Green reported that MISS CLAIR underwent x-ray scans on her knees following her last performance at Rockhampton on the 25th October 2019 which showed no abnormalities. He added that the mare had a loose cap on a back molar which was removed. Race 1: LIONS NATHAN XXXX CLASS B HANDICAP – 950m OUR GIRL TAMIYA – Raced greenly when placed under pressure in the straight. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. TIME FOR LILLI – Reared as the start was effected. NOCK WITH YA ELBOW – Laid out under pressure in the straight. Trainer A Albert reported on return to his stables that gelding was lame in the near fore leg and will be retired. Stewards advised that a veterinary clearance would be required if the gelding was to resume racing and would also be required to pass a barrier trial. Trainer A Albert was reprimanded under AR165(3) for leaving the course within 30 minutes after the geldings event. SPECIAL RECRUIT – Slow to begin. SPOT ON – Laid out under pressure in the straight. Race 2: KEPPEL BAY SAILING CLUB MAIDEN PLATE – 950m CHLOE KINKY TOES – As no other rider was available, permission was granted for R Oakford to ride the horse half a kilo over its allotted weight. CRAIGLEA LORELEI – Raced greenly when placed under pressure in the straight. JET CITY – Stood flat footed as the start was affected. Trainer C McIver was advised that JET CITY would be required to obtain a barrier certificate prior to the mare’s next start. SUMMER LEA – Jumped away awkwardly. Laid out under pressure in the straight. Became awkwardly placed on the heels of MIRACULOUS over the concluding stages. CARRARA GOLD – Laid in under pressure in the straight. LA REMINISTA – As no other rider was available, permission was granted for M Milford to ride the horse half a kilo over its allotted weight. Stood flat footed as the start was affected. Trainer C McIver was advised that a warning would be placed on the record of the filly. MIRACULOUS – Became awkward in its stride and blundered as a result shortly after jumping. Laid out under pressure in the straight. Race 3: REGAL’S DENTAL / MEMORIES OF DAVID HALL QTIS 3YO MAIDEN HANDICAP – 1300m The start of this race was delayed due to the late arrival of POINT THE WAGON into the saddling enclosure. Trainer V Heading was fined the sum of $200 under 165(3) for failing to present the filly into enclosure by the prescribed time. GLOBAL FUGITIVE – In the vicinity of the 700m, had to be steadied after improving onto heels of SIR SKYWALKER. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities MISS CLAIR – Jumped away awkwardly. THE GIRL IS WILD – Raced wide without cover throughout. Hung out rounding the home turn. TALES OF EPSILON – Raced wide without cover throughout. Laid in under pressure in the straight. Race 4: COUNTRY CUPS CHALLENGE QUAL / GJ GARDINER HOMES YEPPOON CUP OPEN HANDICAP – 1400m LEVEL EIGHT – Slow to begin. THE BAKER – When questioned regarding the gelding leading in today’s event. Apprentice E Smith stated that after beginning well was trapped wide in the early stages and was not able to find cover. She added that rather being trapped wide throughout elected to push forward and lead. Stewards noted her explanation. DON’T WE LOVE IT – Slow to begin. MONO LAD – A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. Trainer G Bell stated in her opinion the gelding does not travel well and in future would attempt to restrict MONO LAD to tracks closer to her home training base. HELLUVA HOFFA – When questioned regarding the gelding racing in a prominent position in today’s event, Jockey M Stephens stated that he was under no specific instructions but after beginning well elected to make use of his mounts early gate speed and was able to find a position behind the leaders. Trainer P Burke stated that even though he provided no instructions was surprised to see HELLUVA HOFFA racing in a forward position as in his opinion the gelding is better suited settling midfield with cover. Stewards advised Trainer P Burke that in future he is to provide clear instructions to his riders. Race 5: STAR LIQUOR RAILWAY HOTEL BENCHMARK 50 HANDICAP – 1400m RESET EXPRESS – Raced wide without cover throughout. MAGIC SCENE – Jumped away awkwardly. Laid in under pressure in the straight. QUEEN CONSORT – When questioned regarding the poor performance of QUEEN CONSORT, Jockey R Oakford stated that the mare travelled comfortably throughout but when placed under the pressure in the vicinity of the 600m, failed to respond to his urgings and was disappointing over the concluding stages. Trainer W Melvin added that the mare is better suited to sand based tracks and would now tailor QUEEN CONSORTS future races to suit. A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
