Williams Race 1: LION Class B Handicap 1000 metres During the running of the event, the photo finish camera failed to operate. Using available footage, stewards were comfortably satisfied with the judge’s placings and correct weight was declared on the numbers 2-3-4-1. ROSTRUM – Jumped away awkwardly. Laid in when placed under pressure down the home straight. PURPOSEFUL MISS – Raced wide throughout. BORNEES LAD – Raced wide in the early stages. Laid in when placed under pressure in the straight. SHESAYSTHANKS – Trainer Zoe Hohn reported that en route to the track, SHESAYSTHANKS had lost its near-side rear shoe. As a result of being unable to be reshod, the other rear shoe was removed, and the filly raced bare in the rear hinds. Slow to begin. Raced generously when entering the home straight and laid in when placed under pressure in the straight. ONLY EMMA – Slow to begin. Laid out rounding the home turn. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities. Race 2: STAR LIQUOR YEPPOON Maiden Plate 1000 metres BAGGER TWISTIES – Slow to begin. Raced wide throughout. Shifted in momentarily approaching the 300m.EMPEROR OF LIGHT – Approaching the 300m, had to steady and restrain to avoid the heels of HENRY’SATAR which shifted out and BAGGER TWISTIES which shifted in. HENRY’SASTAR – Slow to begin. Overraced in the early stages. Shifted out momentarily approaching the 300m. SHE’S OUT THERE – Slow to begin. Approaching the 200m, had to shift out around ZAKHEERA to obtain clear running. Raced ungenerously throughout the home straight. Race 3: HUNTLYS HEAVY EQUIPMENT QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1200 metres ART BY CONCORDE – Was declared a late scratching at 7:45am due to no available rider. CACAO – Dipped on jumping. Upon returning to scale, Jockey Justin Stanley stated that his intentions were to try and settle in a position on the rail, however after beginning awkwardly, was unable to do so. He also stated that approaching the 800m, he had to restrain to avoid the heels of ANTIQUE LACE and in doing so elected to shift out, obtaining a three-wide position for the remainder of the race. BAY’S SPIRIT – Raced ungenerously in the home straight, shifting in slightly carrying ALITA in onto BETTER THAN BAMS. DABILDOYA – Passing the 300m, had to steady to avoid the heels of BETTER THAN BAMS. SACRED GEM – Laid in when placed under pressure in the straight. ALITA – Jumped away awkwardly. Passing the 300m, was carried in onto BETTER THAN BAMS by BAY’S SPIRIT. BETTER THAN BAMS – Hampered on jumping by CACAO. Approaching the 500m, had to steady to avoid the heels of ALITA. Carried in passing the 300m by ALITA. Rolled out over the concluding stages. Race 4: COUNTRY CUPS CHALLENGE QUALIFIER/ G.J. GARDNER YEPPOON CUP Handicap 1400 metres AMMOUDI BAY – Slow to begin. Laid in when entering the home straight. Laid in when placed under pressure in the straight over the concluding stages. JAY JAY – Was declared a late scratching at 7:45am due to no available rider. PROANE – Raced wide in the middle stages. Laid in when placed under pressure in the straight. QUIDNI – Had to check off the heels of AMMOUDI BAY which shifted in over the concluding stages. GEOFFROY – Jumped away awkwardly. LOUIE THE LEGEND – Slow to begin. Approaching the 1200m, had to steady to avoid the heels of RATHER SALUBRIOUS. Brushed the running rail passing the 800m. Laid in when placed under pressure in the straight. Race 5: REGALS DENTAL Class B Handicap 1400 metres I AM CLEVER – Raced wide throughout. Apprentice Jockey Tahlia Fenlon was fined a sum of $300 for using her whip on 8 occasions prior to the 100m, 3 more than permitted, pursuant to AR132(7)(a)(ii). Stewards took into account this was Apprentice Jockey Fenlon’s first breach of the respective rule. NAVARRE – Jumped away awkwardly. Laid in when placed under pressure in the straight. TRICKY BEANS – Was declared a late scratching due to an abscess found in the gelding’s offside forefoot. Trainer Glenda Bell was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to any future race or trial starts. CHESTER’S ANGEL – Overraced in the early stages.
