GENERAL
 
Due to Apprentice Tahlia Fenlon not riding at the meeting due to injury, the following rider changes were approved as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
 
App Melea Castle pleaded guilty to a charge under AR113 for using a mobile phone while mounted during trackwork on 24/09/22. Considering Ms Castle was fined $200 in July 2022 for a breach of the same rule, stewards imposed a $300 fine.
 
Overweight permitted as per the Stewards Race Day Summary.
 
Race 1: GRAEME DOUGAN MEMORIAL BENCHMARK 70 Handicap 1800 metres
 
TEZOFF – App Jake Molloy was fined $200 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for applying the whip to his mount on 7 occasions prior to the 100m (2 more than permitted).
 
SPRINGTHORPE – Raced wide during the initial stages to obtain the lead near the 1500m. Laid in under pressure for the majority. Jockey Adam Spinks was reprimanded under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for applying the whip to his mount on 7 occasions prior to the 100m (2 more than permitted).
 
TENNESSEE WHISKEY – Slow to begin.
 
Race 2: JOHN MILNE MEMORIAL OPEN Handicap 1400 metres
 
BARACHIEL – Slow to begin.
 
BOOM BOOM BECKER – Slow to begin. Raced keenly during the early stages.
 
No further racing incidents.
 
Race 3: CQ PROSTATE SUPPORT & AWARENESS GROUP Maiden Handicap 1400 metres
 
The start was delayed by 3 minutes due to SMART RUBICK having to be resaddled upon arrival to the barriers.
 
CAERUS (NZ) – Jockey Ashley Butler advised that the gelding travelled well throughout however proved to be disappointing at the finish. Trainer Jamie McConachy advised that CAERUS (NZ) is likely to be spelled.
 
OSLEN (NZ) – Slow into stride and settled at the rear. Raced in restricted room for a short distance near the 800m.
 
AIR LIFTED – Began awkwardly.
 
VANA STAR – Held up for clear running rounding the home turn and in the early part of the home straight. Trainer Kevin Miller was fined $100 under AR106(1) for presenting the mare into the mounting yard wearing gear that was not correctly notified. App Jake Molloy was fined $400 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for applying the whip to his mount on 6 occasions prior to the 100m (2 more than permitted).
 
SMART RUBICK – Bumped on jumping.
 
TURF EDITION – Began awkwardly bumping SMART RUBICK.
 
PANGU DYNASTY – Ryan Wiggins, who was originally granted permission to ride 1.5KG overweight, pleaded guilty to a charge under AR190(3) and fined $200, in that after accepting the ride at approved overweight he was unable to make the weight declared, resulting in PANGU DYNASTY carrying an additional 0.5KG overweight (no other available rider). Slow to begin. Steadied off heels near the 800m and shifted inwards briefly tightening OLSEN.

GALAXY GEM – Slow to begin. Laid in under pressure.
 
SUPER ROOSTER – App Cody Collis was reprimanded under AR143(14)(a) for failing to claim his full allowance when only claiming 2KG.
 
Race 4: HAPPY BIRTHDAY GREG STURGISS QTIS Three-Year-Old Maiden Handicap 1200 metres
 
The start was delayed approximately 3 minutes when GRAND ASCENT was resaddled immediately prior to proceeding to the barriers. After speaking with Trainer Angela Stephens and Jockey Ashley Butler, Stewards could not be satisfied that either party were at fault to a degree that warranted a penalty being applied and therefore took the matter no further.
 
SIRENE – Began awkwardly bumping HELLFIRE BILLY. Laid in under pressure in the home straight.
 
UNDER THE LIMIT – Began awkwardly.
 
 
GOOGAZ – Jockey Ryan Wiggins was fined $200 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for applying the whip to his mount on 7 occasions prior to the 100m (2 more than permitted).
 
HELLFIRE BILLY – Bumped on jumping. Raced wide for the majority.
 
ANNIE'S TOP – Raced wide for the majority.
 
PINOCCHIO LASS – Raced 3 wide early.
 
Race 5: ORDER YOUR PLATTERS FOR CAULFIELD TODAY BENCHMARK 58 Handicap 1300 metres
 
The start was delayed due to MILITARY FORCE proving difficult to load.
 
BONDURANT – Raced wide during the early stages before obtaining the position outside the leader near the 700m.
 
MILITARY FORCE – Delayed start when difficult to load.
 
SHALUNA – Began awkwardly.
 
HYPERION STAR (NZ) – Slow to begin.
 
Race 6: TAB RATINGS BAND 0 - 55 Handicap 950 metres
 
CACAO – Began awkwardly.
 
RUTTO – App Jake Molloy advised that the neck strap on his breastplate broke soon after the start.
 
CHARLOTTE RULES – Began awkwardly. Hung out and raced wide throughout.
 
SHEZROYAL – Slow to begin. Lost contact with the main body of the field between the 800m and the 400m. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities.
