QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT Yeppoon Turf Club 5th August 2023 WEATHER – Fine TRACK RATING – Good 3 RAIL – True OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – Mr E. SuliStewards – Mr G. Meek, Mr M. HeathClerk of Scales – StewardsJudge – Mr W. WelburnVeterinarian – Dr D. LunauStarter – Mr B. Burnell Race 1: LION NATHAN Class B Handicap (1000 Metres) SASSY DIVA – Jumped away awkwardly. Laid out momentarily when placed under pressure near the 200m and had to be straightened. INZAMAM – Bumped on jumping when ACT OF ROYALTY had shifted out. FLAMING ASTEROID – Raced wide in the early stages. Had to be steadied momentarily near the 200m when SASSY DIVA laid out under pressure. GABRIELLE – Bumped on jumping by INZAMAM which was carried out by ACT OF ROYALTY. Raced wide throughout. ACT OF ROYALTY – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted out, bumping INZAMAM and carried it out onto GABRIELLE. TARGET THE STARS – Raced in restricted room passing the 600m. Race 2: STAR LIQUOR YEPPOON QTIS Maiden Plate (1000 Metres) CHLOELLA BELLA – Slow to begin. Raced ungenerously throughout. Laid in when placed under pressure over the concluding stages. Upon returning to scale, Jockey W. Satherley reported that his mount raced greenly throughout. GOLDIE’S POWER – Bumped on jumping by SECRET SONNETS which shifted in. HALARKE – Refused to load and was declared a late scratching at 2:17pm. Stewards ordered that all monies invested on HALARKE be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to successful wagers: 37c in the dollar for the win31c in the dollar for the place Trainer K. Miller was advised that the mare would be required to trial to the satisfaction of stewards and obtain a further barrier certificate prior to its next future race start. MISS GAGA – Raced wide in the early stages. Laid out when placed under pressure in the home straight. ROMAN QUEEN – En-route to the barriers, ROMAN QUEEN dislodged its rider and proceeded to gallop for a short distance before being captured by the clerk of the course. Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after making contact with the outside running rail and was cleared to start. Jockey A. Sewell was cleared by the on-course QAS to ride in the event. SECRET SONNETS – Jumped away awkwardly and shifted in, bumping with GOLDIE’S POWER shortly after the start. SWEET CATENA – Was fractious in the barriers prior to jumping. Raced wide throughout. Race 3: G.J. GARDNER BENCHMARK 60 Handicap (1000 Metres) LIFETIME QUEST – Was fractious in the barriers prior to jumping. Jumped away awkwardly and as a result was slow to begin. FUTURE IDEA (NZ) – Slow to begin. CINDERELLA MAN – Underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after having competed within the previous seven days and was passed fit to start. Slow to begin. SO ODELIA – Laid in when placed under pressure in the home straight. Race 4: REGALS DENTAL BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP (1200 Metres) REAL KEY – En-route to the barriers, REAL KEY dislodged its rider and proceeded to gallop the entire course proper before being captured by the clerk of the course. Was declared a late scratching at 3:28pm. Stewards ordered that all monies invested on REAL KEY be refunded, with the following deductions to apply to all successful wagers: 31c in the win28c in the place Trainer M. Cochrane was advised that a warning would be placed on the gelding’s record for its pre-race behaviour. Apprentice M. Apel was cleared to take her remaining ride for the day by the on-course QAS. Underwent a veterinary examination following the running of the event which revealed the gelding to be lame in the right-hind leg. Trainer M. Cochrane was advised that the gelding would require a veterinary clearance prior to its next future race start. ASHIKO BAY – Shifted in on jumping, bumping NERRINA LOLITA. Laid out when placed under pressure passing the 200m. NERRINA LOLITA – Bumped on jumping by ASHIKO BAY which shifted in. ASTRAL ODYSSEY – Raced wide throughout. Laid in when placed under pressure over the concluding stages. Race 5: HUNTLYS HEAVY EQUIPMENT BENCHMARK 45 Handicap (1400 Metres) RUFFIN’ IT (NZ) – Held up for clear racing room passing the 200m.COSMIC BULLET – Slow to begin. CANTOR – Slow to begin. Stewards intend to speak to Jockey W. Satherley regarding his whip use prior to the 100m. SENSATIONABULL – Took the bend awkwardly near the 700m. SUPER ROOSTER – Raced in restricted room near the 700m. Raced in restricted room near the 350m and had to shift out to obtain clear racing room.
