Race 1: JOHN MILNE MEMORIAL MAIDEN PLATE 1200 M GULF OF SIDRA – Bumped by MR GRAY upon jumping as a result slow into stride. MADANCER – Began awkwardly and slow into stride as a result. MR GREY – Jumped inwards at the start bumping with GULF OF SIDRA. Raced wide in the early stages. Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight. TEENAGE DIRTBAG – Raced keenly through the middle stages. Raced wide throughout. Laid inwards under pressure in the home straight. BREAKER BREAKER – Bumped nearing the 700m when DIVINE KAMEHALANI laid in momentarily. DIVINE KAMEHALANI – Raced wide early. Laid in nearing the 700m momentarily and bumped with BREAKER BREAKER. Over raced throughout. Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight. GOLDIE'S POWER – Fractious prior to the start. Bumped by MAGNUSDOTTIR upon jumping. LUVIN' OUR GRACE – Bounded in the air at start and was slow to begin as a result. MAGNUSDOTTIR – Began awkwardly and bumped with GOLDIE’S POWER at the start. Over raced in the early stages. Race 2: SLB INVESTMENTS BM70 HANDICAP 1400 M SIDEARM – Apprentice J. Doolan was fined $300 under the terms of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for her use of the whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted. MAKEDON – Bounded in the air upon jumping and was slow to begin as a result. Bumped entering the home straight when ZELSON shifted out momentarily. Jockey W. Satherley was spoken to advisedly in relation to his whip use when out of contention. LETMELETGO – Raced greenly throughout the event. NASHA – Factious prior to the start. Began awkwardly and slow into stride as a result. ZELSON – Slow to begin. Shifted out momentarily when entering the home straight and bumped with MAKEDON. Lay inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight. Race 3: SEVEN NEWS OPEN HANDICAP 1100M The start of the event was delayed when ASPEN LAD became fractious bounded forwards resulting in the front barrier opening. Immediately thereafter the bridle came off the gelding. The bridle was replaced, and ASPEN LAD underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Correct weight was briefly delayed when J. Stanly rider of second placed JETSKI wished to view the photo. After doing so was satisfied and correct weight was declared. KNIGHT'S SWORD – Slow to begin. When passing the 700m over raced onto the heels of NO BETTER AFFAIRE and had to be restrained for some distance. When questioned into the performance of the gelding jockey R. Wiggins stated that in his opinion KNIGHT’S SWORD was first up today since May 2023 and would derive benefit from today’s run. ASPEN LAD – Underwent a pre-race veterinarian examination and wad cleared to start. JETSKI – Slow to begin. NO BETTER AFFAIRE – Jumped outwards at the start. Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight. FAV'S FLYER – Began awkwardly. Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight. Race 4: GRAEME DUGGAN MEMORIAL QTIS THREE-YEARS-OLD MAIDEN HANDICAP 1000M The start of the event was delayed to allow the running of race 4 at the Horsham gallops meeting. ARBAT – Jumped outwards at the start. Impeded and carried wider shortly after the start by COBBO. SWITCH AND SLIDE – Jockey A. Layt was fined $400 under the terms of AR132(7)(a)(ii) for his use of the whip 6 times prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted. AGNES WATERS – Slow to begin. Was eased out of the race from the 800m and took no further competitive part in the race. Jockey A. Sewell reported upon returning to the scales that in his opinion the gelding may have been shin sore in today’s event. A subsequent post-race veterinarian examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Connections were advised that AGNES WATERS would be stood down to a trial due to poor performance. HE'S SO READY – Very slow to begin. Failed to show any speed throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no apparent abnormalities. Connections were advised that the gelding would have a warning placed on his record for poor performance. THE CRANOCH – Factious prior to the start. Began awkwardly. Jockey J Murphy reported that his mount raced greenly throughout. COBBO – Jumped outwards at the start impeded and carried wider ARBAT and QUARTERSHARE. Raced greenly throughout. Lay inwards noticeably when placed under pressure in the home straight. QUARTERSHARE – Impeded and carried wider shortly after the start by COBBO. Slow into stride. Over raced in the early stages. ERRONEOUS – Lay inwards when placed under pressure. LEIBERT LASS – Began awkwardly. Race 5: GREAT NORTHERN 0 - 55 HANDICAP 1400M The start of the event was delayed to remove kangaroos from the track. DOOTHAKARMICHAEL – Laid inwards when placed under pressure and commenced to yield ground in the home straight. Trainer R Vale advised that the gelding had proved disappointing, and the immediate racing future would be assessed. NATIVE BEE – Slow into stride. Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the early stages of the home straight. DESERT MOON – Began awkwardly and slow to begin as a result. Over raced in the early and middle stages. Approaching the 700m became unbalanced and shifted out bumping with FROSTY BEAR. FROSTY BEAR – Slow to begin. Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight. LEICA BITA FUN – Attempted to improve wider through the middle stages. SWEET FANTASY – Began awkwardly. Cast off fore shoe in running. Race 6: CUB 0 - 58 HANDICAP 1200M SWISS ELEMENT – Slow into stride. Raced wide in the early stages. Jockey A. Sewell reported that his mount never let down throughout the event and in his opinion the firmness of the track was a factor in today’s performance. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any abnormalities. STEP THIS WAY – Shied and shifted out near the winning post resulting in CHANTISS being inconvenienced. Jockey J Murphy was fined $400 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using the whip on 6 occasions prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted. CHANTISS – Slow into stride. Inconvenienced near the finish. Jockey R Wiggins was fined $500 under AR132(7)(a)(ii) for using the whip on 7 occasions prior to the 100m, 1 more than permitted. ASTRAL ODYSSEY – Began awkwardly. A post-race veterinarian examination revealed the gelding to have some abnormal lung sounds and the horse was coughing. ASTRAL ODYSSEY was stood down pending a veterinarian certificate of soundness. Race 7: TAB QTIS CLASS 1 HANDICAP 1000M RUBUNKAR – Slow to begin. Lay inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight. THE LAST SAGA – Jockey J. Stanley reported that his mount became unbalanced for some distance between the 700m and 500m. LOVE MY LOUIS – Slow to begin. SPOT THE DOT – Over raced in the early stages. VALENTINA EXPRESS – Blundered on jumping and slow to begin as a result. I'M PINKER – Over raced in the early stages. DRAGON'S SNIP – Slow to begin. Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight. Jockey J. Murphy reported that he felt that his mount may have jarred up during todays run. A post-race veterinarian examination revealed the gelding to be sore in front. A veterinary certificate is required prior to its next start. MISS DAURIAN – Lay inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight. A post-race veterinarian examination revealed the mare to have tied up, treatment was administered and no stand down was issued.
