QUEENSLANDRACING INTEGRITY COMMISSION STEWARDS REPORT YEPPOON RACE CLUB INC 3 AUGUST 2024 WEATHER – Fine TRACK RATING – Good 4 RAIL – True OFFICIALS Chairman of Stewards – H. GillettStewards – T. Hudson GENERAL The following horses were declared late scratchings due to no available riders Race 1: – ENTERPRISE MOUSSE @ 8:15am – THE QUICKENING @ 8:15am – TOHUKU @ 8:15am Race 3: – CYBER JAM @ 8:15am– MISS SHALLA @ 2/8 4:01pm – stewards approved the early scratching with no rider available due to the limited number of riders at the meeting and the time that trainer W Winters would have to leave his stable address in order to arrive on time to the course with limited chance he would gain a jockey. Race 5: – TORQUE ESPAGNA @ 8:15am Following a track inspection the track was upgraded to a good 3 at 11:32am Due to the lack of riders at todays meeting stewards extended leniency in relation to the late declaration of riders. Race 1: LION NATHAN QTIS Maiden Plate 1000m CIVIL WAR – Slow to begin and trailed the field thereafter. Approaching the 300m shifted in abruptly in attempt to avoid LOVE ON DISPLAY, which had fallen, and contacted the inside running rail causing apprentice S Nielson to become unbalanced for a short distance. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities. Trainer D Micallef was advised that a warning would be placed on the geldings record for being uncompetitive throughout the event. I’M FAMOUS – Shifted out on jumping and bumped GOTTA HERO. OUT BID ME – Raced keenly in the early stages. Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight. LOVE ON DISPLAY – Apprentice T Orr was permitted to not claim his full allowance as there were no other riders available however Mr Orr was subsequently reprimanded under AR 143(14)(a), when considering penalty stewards were mindful of his unblemished record in relation to this rule and his guilty plea. Raced wide throughout. Fell approaching the 300m dislodging apprentice T Orr. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities. Nonetheless stewards advised trainer L Manzelmann that LOVE ON DISPLAY would require a veterinary certificate prior to racing again. Stewards intend to open an inquiry into the circumstances of LOVE ON DISPLAY falling approaching the 300m at a time and date to be fixed. SHADOW MISTRESS – Slow into stride. GOTTA HERO – Bumped on jumping by I’M FAMOUS. Laid out when placed under pressure in the home straight. SUPER TALON – Raced keenly in the early stages. Following the running of the race apprentice T Orr was assessed by QAS officers and was showing signs of a concussion, he was transported to hospital for further observations. Mr Orr was advised that under the concussion protocol he would be stood down from riding for a period of 12 days. He was also advised that he would require a medical certificate and is to complete a COG test prior to returning to riding again. Race 2: STAR LIQUOR Class 3 Plate 1000m The start of the race was delayed due to the fall in race 1, in which the stewards inspected the portion of the track where the fall had occurred. The stewards had no concerns with the track and deemed the track suitable to continue racing. Prior to the declaration of correct weight jockey T Chambers wished to view the available replays to ascertain if she had grounds for a protest against first placed CHASETON over the concluding stages. After doing so Ms Chambers elected not to proceed and correct weight was declared on the judges numbers. CINDERELLA MAN – Slow to begin. Dipped near the 500m. TUPELAWARA – Raced keenly in the early stages. Raced wide in the early and middle stages. Inclined to lay inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight. CHALKLEY – Slow to begin. JUST FRANK – Slow to begin raced wide in the early stages. Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight. LAST LAUGH – raced wide in the early stages. Race 3: REGALS DENTAL BENCHMARK 45 Handicap 1200m FROSTWOOD – Began awkwardly. Over raced in the early stages. JEWELMAE – Began awkwardly. Raced wide in the early stages. Inclined to lay inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight. MISS DAURIAN – Brushed the running rail when laying inwards near the 200m. PEAKING TOM – Shifted wider on the track entering the home straight. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities. VALENTINA EXPRESS – Began awkwardly and slow to begin as a result. Over raced in the early stages. Raced wide throughout. DAWN REBEL – Declared a late scratching at 2:05pm as there was no rider available to replace injured apprentice T Orr. TELMESOMETHIN’GIRL – Slow into stride. MISS TEAK – Jumped outwards at the start. Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight. Race 4: G.J. GARDNER HOMES (YEPPOON) BENCHMARK 65 Handicap 1300m As apprentice T Orr was stood down from the remainder of his rides trainer L Manzelmann made application to stewards for apprentice S Nielson to replace Mr Orr on CHICKERARTIE and for Ms Nielson to be replaced on DIASONIC by jockey Colin Lennon as he was the last rider available. He made this application as he would have preferred an apprentice to ride CHICKERARTIE. Due to the lack of jockeys at todays meeting stewards approved the request and the rider changes were disseminated by the race day broadcaster. CHICKERARTIE – Apprentice S Nielson was approved as the replacement rider by stewards. Shortly after the start bumped with BRAZEN BRECCIA. Raced keenly in the early stages. Laid inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight. DIASONIC – Jockey C Lennon was approved as the replacement rider by stewards. Bounded on jumping. DRAGON’S SNIP – Began awkwardly. Raced wide in the early stages until obtaining a position in the lead near the 700m. GOLDEN ATHENA – Slow into stride. Shifted wider near the 500m in an attempt to improve. When questioned in relation to the performance jockey A Spinks stated that the mare had travelled well throughout the event and when asked for an effort GOLDEN ATHENA was slow to respond, he further added that he was was not overly disappointed with the run given the drop back in distance today. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities. HOLLYWOOD PARK (NZ) – Raced keenly in the early stages. MISHANI MYSTIQUE – Began awkwardly. BRAZEN BRECCIA – Bumped shortly after the start with CHICKERARTIE. Shifted wider on the track entering the home straight. Race 5: HUNTLYS HEAVY EQUIPMENT BENCHMARK 50 Handicap 1600m TYCOON BABY – Declared a late scratching at 2:05pm as there was no rider available to replace injured apprentice T Orr. CHILLI PALMER – Jumped inwards at the start. ALL BUSINESS (NZ) – Began awkwardly and bumped with LYNRIC LASS. When questioned in relation to the seemingly poor performance jockey C McIver stated that the gelding did not appreciate the track surface and that ALL BUSINESS (NZ) has had success on dirt tracks in its most recent starts, he further added that the gelding may derive benefit from being ridden by apprentices in future starts. When questioned Trainer A Jones stated that he could offer no explanation to the performance of the gelding and that he was confident of its chances, he also provided evidence that had supported ALL BUSINESS (NZ). Mr Jones further added that he concurred with jockey McIvers statement that the gelding may be better suited to race on dirt tracks. A post-race veterinary examination failed to reveal any apparent abnormalities. BANKONAJET – Slow to begin. Race wide in the early stages. Inclined to lay inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight. LYNRIC LASS – Jumped outwards at the start bumping ALL BUSINESS (NZ). Slow into stride. SILENT ANGEL – Over raced in the early stages. Bumped on a number of occasions with ADMIRAL ASH near the 800m. Inclined to lay inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight. ADMIRAL ASH – Slow into stride. Improved wider on the track from the 1000m until finding a position behind the leader near the 600m. Bumped on a number of occasions with SILENT ANGEL near the 800m. Inclined to lay inwards when placed under pressure in the home straight. When questioned in relation to the seemingly improved performance trainers representative H. Manzelmann stated that the drop back in distance in today’s event proved beneficial in ADMIRAL ASH’s chances.
