Began awkwardly. Crowded for room shortly after the start, bumped the hind quarters of MASLOW and lost ground. Improved onto heels when racing in a rearward position passing the 1000m and had to be restrained. Failed to respond when placed under pressure after passing the 400m. Rider K. O’Hara reported that she desisted from pressuring her mount over the final 150m as she had concerns that something may be amiss with the gelding. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings.

Bumped on jumping. After leading for the majority of the event, when placed under pressure passing the 600m commenced to weaken and finished at the rear of the field. When asked to explain the horse’s performance, rider K. O’Hara stated that the mare travelled well until passing the 600m and failed to respond when placed under pressure and she desisted from riding the mare out over the final 200m as she had concerns with its action. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have poor post-race recovery and to be exhibiting signs of being in season.
