Stewards sought an explanation from rider regarding the horse settling towards the rear of the field, which is in contrast to its most recent racing pattern. He explained that he was instructed to settle the horse in a midfield position with cover one off the rail, however he was unable to comply with these instructions as another runner, after being slow to begin, improved quickly to his inside which resulted in him having to restrain in the early stages to gain a position closer to the rail. Stewards noted his explanation.
