When questioned regarding tactics from the 600 metres, rider J Lyon stated gelding was not suited by the slow pace of the race and was reluctant to come wider rounding the home-turn as was of the belief he would be forced very wide on track. He then elected to seek a run back to the inside to secure clearing and when passing the 200 metres BRUMBY JACK commenced to lay in and was of the opinion the geldings run had come to an end.
