Laid in under pressure in the home straight. Whilst being restrained to avoid heels near the 700m, the gelding commenced to lay in for a number of strides despite the efforts of its rider resulting in DOMINANT WITNESS, which was racing to its inside, being forced to race in restricted room. Apprentice B. Nothdurft advised that the gelding improved into the race from a rearward position from the 500m, however in the home straight it failed to run on as he had expected and, in his opinion, proved disappointing. A post-race veterinary examination of the gelding revealed no apparent abnormalities.
