Forced wider after passing the 700m. When questioned regarding the tactics he adopted, particularly after passing the 800m, jockey J. Byrne stated that when the tempo eased at the 1000m he elected to improve his position passing the 800m, however GO ON RED, which was being steadied, shifted out near the 700m, forcing him wider on the track. The explanation was noted.
