Leaving 1000m shifted out abruptly whilst over-racing. raced wide throughout. When questioned regarding the disappointing performance of MARDI GRAS, S. Galloway stated that the mare was never travelling like a winner and he believed that the disappointing performance could be attributed to the weight and hard track, which MARDI GRAS was never comfortable on. A post race veterinary exmaination of MARDI GRAS failed to reveal any abnormalities and a swab sample was taken from the mare.
