Slow to begin. Lost off-hind plate in race. When quest over tactics, particularly leaving 600m. Rdr explained issued no specific instructs, adding that leaving 600m was reluctant to shift wider round home turn, and with the placement of the rail at 12m, was of the view gelding would be better served remaining closer to the rail and save ground at that point of the race. Rdr agreed in hindsight, it would have been a better option to follow eventual winner into race leaving 600m rather than wait until the 400m to allow his mount to improve into the race.
