When questioned re leading Jockey said that he had been instructed to take up a leading position from the inside barrier. He stated he had to make some use of his mount in the early stages to comply with instructions and after establishing a considerable lead his mount travelled comfortably. He then placed his mount under pressure and it ran to the finish fairly. Trainer confirmed the instructions however he was surprised that the gelding was able to establish such a significant lead. Trainer was reminded of his obligation to notify Stewards of any change in tactics.
