When questioned regarding his riding of SANTA CRUZING, jockey Fradd stated that his instructions were to ride the horse in a forward and possibly leading position, however from its wide barrier, after beginning very well, was unable to muster enough speed to cross runners and raced further back in the field than was anticipated. He added that he tested the horse in the early stages of the straight, however it failed to let down and as such he refrained from punishing the horse over the concluding stages.
