Bumped near the 300m. Rider questioned regarding why he moved from a trailing position wider on track after passing 1500m. He said the horse overraced early and when Usainity was racing 3 wide he elected to trail that runner and improve around the field in the middle stages. He added that the horse was disappointing in its finishing effort when placed under pressure in the early part of the straight. Stewards noted his explanation regarding his tactics.

Hampered soon after the start when tightened for room. Rider questioned regarding tactics rounding the home turn and in the early part of the straight, in particular the reasons he did not progress from a trailing position behind USAINITY around that runner rather than committing to a run to that horse's inside which resulted in him being momentarily held up and obliged to alter course quite suddenly to obtain clear running. Refer Stewards Report.

Inquiry re poor performance. Rider said it travelled comfortably in a forward position in the early and middle stages, and when forced to place the gelding under pressure from the 800m, it immediately began to give ground and proved most disappointing. Vetted and found to be lame in the off hind leg.
