Began awkwardly and lost ground. Put in an awkward stride, and shifted in abruptly, when racing between runners near the 800m and then overraced for a short distance.

Proved very difficult to load. Became fractious in the barriers and reared as the start was effected, resulting in the gelding losing considerable ground. Trainer S. Burns was advised that he must obtain a further barrier certificate for the gelding prior to its next race start.

Raced 3 wide without cover throughout. Jockey W. O’Connell reported that the gelding commenced to hang in when placed under pressure rounding the home turn, placing him in some difficulty. He added that upon straightening, the gelding continued to hang in which resulted in him being unable to fully pressure the horse for the remainder of the race. As the horse had left the course prior to the required time, a veterinary examination was unable to be performed. Stewards will interview Trainer S. Burns in relation to this matter, and the horse’s post-race recovery, at a later date.
