Began awkwardly. Approaching the 600m was bumped by Redaktor. Shortly after when awkwardly placed at the heels of Dovana, blundered of its own accord, resulting in apprentice M. Shimodaira becoming unbalanced and then being dislodged. At a subsequent inquiry, stewards were not satisfied that any one rider was careless in their actions and took the matter no further. A post race veterinary examination revealed a laceration to the off fore tendon.
