Passing the 300m laid in despite efforts of its rider. Trainer explanation re seemingly improved performance - gelding only been in his care for last couple of runs and at its last start was not suited over the shorter distance and did not appreciate dirt racing surface. Added in previous run performed quite well in Townsville Cup and with the small field today over a more suitable distance did expect a better performance however, was quite surprised by the win.

Rider reported gelding travelled comfortably albeit somewhat keenly however, when placed under pressure failed to respond to his riding and proved disappointing in the home straight. Added in his opinion may not have backed up from its most recent start last Saturday. Vetted - no abnormalities.
