Nipperess stated that at its most recent start the horse was ridden off the speed and when asked to improve into the race, it had runners to its outside, which he believed the gelding may resent. Currie’s stable representative reported that the colt may have got its tongue over the bit during the race.

After racing in a prominent position throughout the gelding commenced to weaken after passing the 600m and finished in a rearward position. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the horse to be suffering from cardiac arrhythmia. Connections were advised that before racing again the horse must trial satisfactorily and a veterinary clearance, including the results of an ECG, must be produced.
