When questioned regarding the tactics adopted and also his riding from the 600m, apprentice C. Gallagher stated that after being caught wide in the early stages he elected to restrain and obtain a position with cover at the rear of the field. He added that approaching the 600m the gelding was left flatfooted when the pace of the race increased, and for this reason he elected to improve to the inside and save ground rather than shift wider on the track at this stage. He further added that once entering the home straight he was able to obtain clear running and the gelding finished the race off
