After racing in a rearward position for the majority of the event, rider C. Bayliss desisted from pressuring his mount over the final 300m as he was of the opinion that something may be amiss with the gelding. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be lame in the off foreleg. Trainer W. Kuskopf was advised that the horse will require a veterinary clearance prior to racing again.
