Slow to begin. When questioned regarding the performance of the gelding Jockey N. Day stated that his mount was disappointing and he was at a loss to explain the performance. He said that the horse was under pressure in the early stages in an endeavour to take up a midfield position and when placed under pressure in the home straight failed to respond to his riding. A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities. Trainer J. McConachy agreed with the comments of Jockey Day and said that it was his intention that the horse be removed from his stables
