Brooker reported that she had intended to position her mount closer to the lead, however the horse did not muster early speed and when the pace was only steady in the middle stages, this did not suit her mount, and given that it was carrying 58kg on a heavy track the horse was unable to sprint when asked for an effort. She indicated that the horse would appreciate a firmer racing surface.
