When asked to comment on the disappointing performance, jockey R. Maloney indicated after beginning well he attempted to obtain cover by steadying in the early stages, which he was unable to do so, and, in his opinion, this had a detrimental effect on the overall performance. He added that despite not obtaining cover he was still disappointed with the overall performance in the run to the line as the horse weakened in the final 200m. A post race veterinary examination failed to reveal any significant abnormalities.
